Nowadays, I have this pressure to be on my "A" game at all times. I can clearly see every mistake I'm making, before I make them, knowing fully well what the consequences will be. Needless to say I am making less and less mistakes everyday and becoming somewhat of a champion at things. I can see clearly, how to obtain results. What kind of results? Any results. I know that if I party the night before, and choose to drink to get drunk, when I wake up the next day, I will have to pile up more work and manage [...]

Robin Thicke - Dreamworld "I wouldn't be so damn sensitive, I'd let things go by No matter what the weather, I'd learn to change, I'd change with the time" So ladies, we all know how Robin Thicke's voice just makes us melt inside. Like how does he know exactly what to say and what tone to hit that just makes your lady parts tickle??? (don't be nasty haha) In your mind ladies, in your mind. But he does it right for sure, and this sultry sound that he has in his voice just [...]

I purchased Amy Winehouse's debut album, Frank , the week it came out. Not because I knew of her before or because someone recommended it to me, but because I fell in love with the artwork and I have an affinity for female vocalists. I have picked up albums previously purely because of the sleeve and they have become some of my greatest friends along the musical way. Little did I know that the plastic case I had before me would hold some of the freshest and most soulful music I would ever come across. As I [...]
nice lil mp3 leakage form he-soul-pop-singer the DANIEL MERRIWEATHER . brighten up your Sunday AM via the A LITTLE BIT BETTER choon. wotyougot
It's a gloriously rainy day here in DC, so I was especially pleased that the first email I opened today, was this delight from the Melbourne-based duo Diafrix . The song is bouncy, the plot is heartwarming, and that backyard party looks like one hell of a good time. It's hard to go wrong with any song that includes the line I got no money, no dental plan, and I don't even care, I got my weed and I got my lady . Diafrix [...]

A week from today, Arthur , the upcoming film starring comedian Russel Brand hits theatres. The movie's soundtrack is packed with tracks featuring big names, including two original tracks by Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard , as well as four tracks by the ever popular Mark Ronson . Three out of Ronson's four tracks include vocals provided by his muse, Australian singer Daniel Merriweather. Below, you can listen to the premiere, courtesy of Vulture , of one of the Ronson-Merriweather tracks, titled "A Little Bit Better." [...]
Who's Medi? Since I just found out, let me tell you! He is basically the French equivalent of Matt Costa mixed with Daniel Merriweather and with a dash of Jamiroquai here and there. Expect to hear a mix of soul, 702s inspired funk, and smooth rock. His debut album You Got Me (Moving) comes to us after ten years of music [...]

The Americans - "The Antidote" If Belle & Sebastian re-imagined themselves as a soul/R&B band, I believe the sound wouldn't be too far off from The Americans' "The Antidote." It's a tightly-knit tune, backed by the magical brass of the Dap-Kings. The Americans marry their influences well, exuding an old school feel -- and a jazz sort of cool. They even manage to fit in a '70s-style guitar solo without compromising the song's soul charms. With the Dap-Kings support, "The Antidote" switches moods without losing the song's sharp consistency. "The Antidote" [...]

Brooklyn based five piece R&B indie rock outfit The Americans , are set to rock out at the 2010 CMJ Festival in New York City with several anticipated headlining gigs. Returning to NYC after a hugely successful London tour, performing at such London staples as The Flower Pot and Yo Yo, the band is now gearing up for the release of their new single "Requiem" featuring Sean Lennon on October 25th. Lennon and lead singer/guitarist Charlie Klarsfeld produced the track. [...]

A little joint post from EB and myself right here. Wale's highly anticipated mixtape, More About Nothing dropped this afternoon, and it satisfies all expectations. The DC-bread rapper brings it with 21 tracks of money beats and lyrical wit. Hit a couple of the standouts below, and be sure to download the mixtape in it's entirety. P.S. We're coming up on the one year anniversary of The Chuckness, and we've got something brewing here behind the scenes for the event. Keep your eyes peeled in the coming weeks. Wale- The War Feat. Daniel Merriweather: [...]

Walé Folarin is back with a brand new installment in his mix tape series, this time titled " More About Nothing ". Some usual suspects return to rock with Walé on this 21-track effort, including Daniel Merriweather, Tré of UCB , and what I personally believe made Walé as hot as he got, the incomparable production from Best Kept Secret . Check out The Soup below, then partake & hit the jump for the track listing. Yep! Walé - The Soup [...]
I must admit I wasn't a fan of Mark Ronson's second record, 2007's Version. I was of the opinion that the Smiths cover he did with Daniel Merriwether of Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before was tepid at best and downright pointless at worst. Though I love Ronson's work as a producer, guiding the likes of Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, Robbie Williams, etc... his work as an artist never measured up. Perhaps that may change a bit now after hearing his new single called Bang Bang Bang . It's simple mindless [...]

Last Monday I finally saw La Roux at my least favorite venue in town, Terminal Five. It was like old times, getting to the show before doors opened to get up close and personal with Elly Jackson (except for the fact that the venue gates you away from the stage and you can't actually get up close and personal with anyone besides the other sweaty folks in the crowd). Thankfully everyone in the crowd was looking to have a good time, dancing through all the upbeat songs and giving Elly full attention when she pulled out her acoustic [...]
Up until now, I've been unable to check submission emails for the past couple weeks. So here's what I thought was good. Also, a video from Moulinex. Pretty cool. Catch it all after the jump... A-ux - Neon Generation AEONS - Where the Sky Meets the Sea AEONS - Beyond [...]

seems all the rage for producers to throw out monikers more suitable to a different style of music instead of confusing core fans with bouncing genres. in the case of cold blank he's figured Fifth Column V would fit his new jacking house sound. the mark ronson lick is an oldie but has been injected with some serious dance heat and comprised the softly spoken original. Givin' myself to you is like giving myself to a Chainsaw/ You keep cutting me open wide, Is that the only thing you're good for?/ Indeed. Been there. Scratch that. I live there! But seriously, tell me what it is. What is so enticing about self-inflicted pain. I understand being intrigued by something you have no knowledge or understanding of. You know, like when toddlers all inevitably go after electric sockets. The epitome of an ignorant-ass thing to do. But can you blame the baby? No. A [...]
