Legendary New York DJ/producer Danny Tenaglia is known for his deep connection with his fans. If you've ever seen him play one of his marathon sets, you'll know that he often gets on the mic — something of a rarity in dance music culture — and addresses his flock a few times throughout the night. Taking to Facebook yesterday Tenaglia posted a long, heartfelt post asking "please, just LET me BE, LET me BE!... The Time Has Come for ME to "finally" BE MYSELF!!" "As of this day, I am 'resigning' (not retiring) and [...]
Facebook post last night confirms legendary DJ to take a break in order to 'be himself'...

It is a very sad day for house music fans everywhere as the legend Danny Tenaglia announced that he is 'resigning' (found on his facebook ). After 30+ years of manning the decks all over the world and touching the hearts of many 'Il Maestro' is taking an open ended hiatus from the DJ booth. It is fair thing to say that he has played a key role in building the EDM community for what it is today, from the humble beginnings as a tight nit community in dungeon clubs throughout New York City to the massive festivals worldwide [...]
Danny Tenaglia isn't a name we often cover on Dancing Astronaut , but the heartfelt message he just posted to his Facebook page caught our attention. The 51 year-old DJ is "'resigning' (not retiring)" from the world of DJing after 26 consecutive years of WMC and 12 years in Ibiza. In his own words, "I HAVE SEEN THE MOUNTAINTOP as a DJ and I just need to STOP and smell the roses of my life." He will be playing one final show for his belated birthday at Pacha NYC on April 28th, but all future gigs will be cancelled [...]

I am just getting around on this Monday afternoon. It feels really strange to have today off of work. I didn't know what day it was when I first woke up. My cats are confused too. Let's start the day right with a little house music. Both tracks being from Canadian - Gray Moonen . The first is a bootleg of Danny Tenaglia's original track Elements , just retitled. I've never really listened to much Danny Tenaglia but maybe I should start after listening to this one. Danny Tenaglia - Tarantula's Elements [...]

Take a nostalgic walk back with us to that innocent, carefree era of a couple of weeks ago, when all we were able to give you were the most basic of logistics about this year's Electric Zoo Festival. Remember how excited we - and presumably you - were at the mere prospect of Electric Zoo [...]

New York City's festival scene is all but dominated by hip-hop and indie music (and now Dave Matthews ). Over the past two Labor Day weekends, however, Electric Zoo has done it's part to bring the electronic scene to the forefront, and it just keeps getting bigger. This year's edition continues the expansion by adding a day and featuring a lineup of over 100 acts. 30 more of those have just been added, and according to the press-release, they're all headliners. Joining the already announced Tiësto on Friday, September 2nd will [...]
Touch down Miami, 9:30am. Day One of Ultra Week was a full day of thumping beats, beach, and sunshine. Forecast for the next five days, high in the 80s, low in the 60s. Perfect. Alongside the usual, Ocean Drive fare of seafood, Cuban sandwiches and mojitos, Sabra was out in full force distributing free, single-serving [...]

Yes . Sam Sparro's new Pink Cloud EP is a pure rose-tinted glasses throwback to Danny Tenaglia / Paradise Garage late '80s-early '90s house. Throbbing stabs of organ and horns (in accompanying track "You's A Nasty") are complimented by "Housequake"-pitched vocals, updated percussion and synth squiggles to create two just about perfect jams. While I didn't expect the "Black & Gold" singer to go in this direction and release a mostly instrumental Prince meets CeCe Penniston EP, it does seem like a [...]

Just in case you were wondering what you should do with yourself this weekend and the next, rest assured, we have a solution. David Guetta will be kicking off the festivities this Friday the 3rd, followed by Kaskade on Saturday [...]
