Another new thing here??? I often feel that I start columns, - keep them up for a few weeks, and then realize that I haven't got the capacity to keep them updated, - so I just leave them. I hope I will manage to keep this column updated... This is made mainly because my time is limited and the days are too few to tell you about all the good things that my ears experience during one single week. HERE are some good things that has passed my ears and eyes the last few weeks: [...]

Dark Captain Light Captain - 'Miracle Kicker' (LoAF Recordings) This debut LP is a real treat. Sitting down to listen to it again before writing this review, I couldn't help myself, and at the end, had to play it all over again... Supported by the likes of Zane Lowe, Rob Da Bank and Mark Radcliffe, amongst others, DCLC specialise in a gorgeous sort of trippy folk-music. The press release mentions both The Strawbs and Can, and that seems appropriate. I'd be willing to bet that the people who fell in love with the Erland Oye-Royksopp-Kings Of [...]

'questions' | dark captain light captain i can barely keep my eyes open right now [rough night's sleep, or rather lack of sleep, last night], so i apologize for the brevity of this post. and i apologize to whoever took this picture i stole from someone's flickr account. i really like these guys . it's surprising 'cos i don't normally dig this kind of music; but 'questions' is such a beautiful song that i could help but love it. [...]
Dark Captain Light Captain are newcomers from East London, and they pack quite a punch in their debut release, Circles EP . They play music full of intricacy, full of texture. It's a beautiful folk sound that's been turned on its side, brimming with creativity. We have hushed vocals sung over lush acoustic guitar at the core of their sound, but this is complimented by their clever arrangements. I love all of the four songs included on the EP, and I can't wait to hear more. Which is good, since Circles EP [...]

Dark Captain Light Captain sounds like a melancholy sunset. Like summer unwillingly coming to a close. Like a star that knows it is seconds away from exploding, but wants to exist a few moments more. They are a newly formed six-piece out of London who create sweet, harmonious psychedelic folk with whispery vocals, soft acoustic guitars, and subtle electronic elements. Their Circles EP made its way into my regular rotation with ease, and it is but a taster for the band's forthcoming full-length album "Miracle Kicker," out on Lo Recordings this fall. With good representation and [...]
Dark Captain Light Captain's label describes their sound as "acid-tinged psych-folk". I have no idea what that means, but i know this song sounds pretty good. The minimal vocals and acoustic guitar give it a folky feel, while the atmospherics of the background electronic noises and piano make it a bit ethereal. So if that's acid-tinged psych-folk, then consider myself a fan. The London band's debut EP, Circles , came out yesterday. You can pick it up here . their full length album is expected to come out in the fall. [...]
It is hard to believe that a couple of years ago Dark Captain Light Captain were a mere two-piece; recent additional limb growth has enabled them to become a big-kicking twelve-shoed behemoth. This seemed to have been prompted by their realisation that what they had been lacking all along was an ex-Quickspace drummer and a flugelhorn [...]

LO recordings has become one of my favourite labels this year. LO is a London based label, with 2 sublabels, where LOaf recordings is my favourite. They release mainly electronic music somewhere between pop and experimental. Interesting music, melodic music, surprising music. LO's latest releases has been a wonderful album from The Chap (one of my favorite electronic albums of the year), the new Black Devil Disco Club and now the awesome new ep from Dark Captain Light Captain , "Circles". The EP is a taster [...]

Dark Captain Light Captain is a cool name for a band. Sorry for not posting in awhile. I will make an effort to find more music to share with you beautiful people. Here are some songs that I enjoy. I think I may start reviewing albums here. Mostly to force myself to listen to more albums. They will actually probably just give you, the reader, insight into why I am not a good music blogger. Dark Captain Light Captain - They Be Underwater Takka Takka - Everybody [...]

UK label Lo Recordings/LOAF are sending forth Dark Captain Light Captain to stake claim to their piece of the recording industry in the USA. DCLC's Circle EP marks the first North American release from Lo Recordings and the East London 6-piece. We're promised delicate psych folk, something "They Be Underwater," confidently brings. Dark Captain Light Captain - "They Be Underwater" Dark Captain Light Captain weave these songs into a haunting web of psychedelia with sweet harmonies, chiming guitars, spaced out brass and touches of [...]
