Dark Captain's 'Right Way Round' is a stretched out hypnagogic groove, a river of blissful rhythms, build on a powerhouse percussive base. A fine single, even with an unexpected hint of baggy Blur pop in the chorus. Of the slew of remixes attached to the main feature, their own Balearic take on 'Jealous Enemies' is the one that stands out.
Formerly known as Dark Captain Light Captain, the now truncated Dark Captain make the same brand of breathy nostalgia, rich in all sorts of textures and sights suited for old Pine forests and Oak groves. "Submarines", off their new album Dead Legs & Alibis, is a wonderful example of this, giving room for the piano [...]

Dark Captain: Dead Legs & Alibis Dark Captain have lost a shade and a rank but the second album is a finer offering than the debut album by Dark Captain Light Captain in 2008. The woozily atmospheric folkatronic textures are still in place but so many other things now complement them, like the motorik Germanic rhythms that pulse constantly and the acid-folk stylings of Midlake. The first single 'Submarines' stands out still for its melancholic [...]

Let your thoughts drift away into the open with the angelic sound of East London five-piece Dark Captain , whom recently released the first single on their upcoming second album Dead Legs & Alibis . Mixing folktronica with melancholic pop harmonies (and even throwing in some traces of soft rock), Dark Captain can easily be compared with the likes of Thomas Dybdahl or King Creosote, to mention a few. The album is out on LOAF recordings on October 17th, and can be pre-ordered right here . You can also download "Submarines" and "Bellcurve" for free [...]

The East London quintet, Dark Captain (formerly Dark Captain Light Captain), is set to release their second LP, Dead Legs & Alibis on October 17. The change in name doesn't mean a departure from the sound that made Miracle Kicker , their 2008 debut, such a great record. The first single, Submarines , laments over the difficulties of love. It's an airy, melancholy piece accented by delicate piano and wonderful guitar rhythms. Dark Captain will formally release Submarines next week, and we have an advanced copy to [...]

Dark Captain is the new name for what used to be Dark Captain Light Captain , and "Submarines" is the first single from their forthcoming album 'Dead Legs & Alibis" (out October 10th on Loaf Recordings ). Thankfully, it's only the name that has changed, and the sound we love so much is still the same. Their debut from 2008, "Miracle Kicker" is one of our absolute favourite albums, and I can't wait to listen to this new one. Beautiful, warm music, with a tiny little bit of darkness [...]
