Editor's Note: This post was written by Pacific Northwest band, Saturna . This is part of a series of posts that they are doing today. See below for links to the rest. We thought that we’d leave you with a taste of the best indie rock that is currently out there. If you haven’t heard these bands, then step out of the dark ages and pull your fingers out of your ears. [...]

San Francisco, CA Darker My Love has the nice privilege of sharing a label with acts like Silversun Pickups . Dangerbird Records has just put out their debut and the band is currently touring in support of it. I'm going to try and catch them at The Ottobar in Baltimore on November 9. [...]

Ive been cheesin' over Darker My Love for about two years now, and they've finally released their full length on Dangerbird Records . I hate waiting. For me anticipation doesn't build. It starts at it's high point and stays somewhere around there until the thirst is quenched. I equate it to the limbo between when I figured out what sex was to the time I first had it. If Darker My Love works in the same way I will always have it on my mind. A parrot on my shoulder squaking. [...]
Didn't grow up in the 60's? That's OK, take a listen to Darker My Love 's self-titled album and you'll feel like you've been transported there instantly! Even if you weren't around to crash Woodstock (the first OR second), if swirly, hazy, grungy, fuzzy, drug-induced, psychedelic rock is your thing, you are going to want to give this album a spin. (if you can think of more adjectives, please let me know) Darker My Love first formed five years ago in L.A., but it wasn't until last year that [...]

I was only just recently introduced to the band Darker My Love. Which makes me rather sad, as they have a damn fine blend of dirty rock and roll with shoegaze elements that makes me jump into a car and drive about 90. They remind of a harder Sereena Maneesh or maybe a more shoegazey Raveonettes possibly. However you describe it, it rokcs, pure and simple. I've only heard a couple songs so far off this album but what I've heard so far I really like. What makes them even cooler is they are going [...]
Here are some new tracks from releases on August 22nd, which was not a bad day for new music. mp3 Keep Us Together (Starsailor-On The Outside) mp3 In The Morning (Razorlight-S/T) mp3 Hello Traveler (Darker My Love-S/T) mp3 When The Night Turns Cold (Tobias Froberg-Somewhere In The City) mp3 We're Gonna Boogie (Primal Scream-Riot City Blues) mp3 Still Feels Like Tears (Broadcast-Future

Oppenheimer / Oppenheimer ( Bar/None ) The self-titled debut from Irish duo Oppenheimer is indie-pop by the numbers - soft vocals, bleeping and whirring synths, jangle-fuzz guitars and upbeat hooks galore. There's nothing here that will change anyone's life but by god it will get those skinny, indie kid non-asses on the dance floor who will ask, "who is this?" and then forget they even cared the moment the song is over. Required milk crate fodder for everyone who fancies themselves an [...]
FUCK YEAH FEST III IN ECHO PARK THIS WEEKEND I would be remiss not to inform you of the mayhem about to be unearthed in my backyard this weeked. FUCK YEAH FEST IS FUCKING BACK MALL TRUCKERS!!! MP3: DARKER MY LOVE "What's a Man's Paris" ( Dangerbird ) If you're a bit of a hippie, Darker My Love provides a great selection for your West Coast roadtrip mix tape for your Volkswagon van with this psychedelic guitar rock track from their self-titled debut CD, out Aug. 22. tags: music | mp3 | indie rock | rock

"What's a Man's Paris?" What a peculair title. Do men not like heavy sauces, wine, and fancy cheeses? Maybe not. I'm a man and I like wine a bit, yet I'm not so crazy about the heavy sauces and fancy cheeses. I'll tell you what I do like. That's rock and roll, and more relevant to this post, I like Darker My Love and this tune, "What's A Man's Paris." I like fuzzy distored guitars and layers upon layers of sonic expansion. I like songs where I can turn the speakers to destroy and [...]

Summer has been insanely brutal in Los Angeles this year. I know, I know I really have NO PLACE to complain. I'm sure you readers in Las Vegas, AZ, and The Southwest are having a wonderful season as well. In the past two weeks Los Angeles has seen temperatures well over 90 degrees and triple digits this weekend (as high as 119 degrees in the valley). My apartment doesnt have air conditioning and with temperatures like this it's been super hard to sleep. OY! In place of a music post today I thought I would [...]

FEATURED ARTIST: THE SHYS official site myspace [MP3] The Shys - Easy On The Eyes I love the summertime. The weather is warm, the beach bums are tanned, and all over Los Angeles there are FREE SHOWS popping up like daisies. I don't think I've had this much FREE Stuff to do on a Monday Night...well...ever. There are six, COUNT THEM, SIX [...]

I'll be at Spaceland here in Los Angeles tonight to see Darker My Love who are in the middle of their July Monday night residency. Most descriptions I've read describe them as 60's psych-rock which I can't stand, but I've seen these guys a couple of times now and really like them. Two of the members filled in last minute on The Fall's last tour so they've picked up quite a few new fans. This is a live cover of Can's “Mother Sky†from their Spaceland performance last Monday. Special thanks to Crashingbeat for the recording. Download: [...]

With the release of debuts by Silversun Pickups (July 25) and Darker My Love (August 22), Dangerbird Records could have a very fruitful summer. The similarities between the two bands are pretty evident; they both have updated takes on the shoegaze/psych-rock sound. To me, Darker My Love recalls a little Kyuss with driving melodies of British Invasion era (especially on Summer Is Here ). The bio cites My Bloody Valentine, The Velvet Underground and The Dandy Warhols, so I may be way off. I only know what I hear. [...]
