We gave you the Is Tropical remix of You Can't Be My Girl a while ago, but somehow the video got forgotten. Shame on us cos it was directed by one of our fave directors Keith Schofield. Darwin Deez has the best 'photobombing' skills ever ;)

In a Moveable Feast, Ernest Hemingway says “Since I had started to break down all my writing and get rid of all facility and try to make instead of describe, writing had been wonderful to do.” I am not Hemingway (in case there were any doubts). But I am going to do my best to follow his advice to say what is true, without reverting to adjectives/metaphors/compariso n, to epitomize Darwin Deez . “He is tall in a two-dimensional way. He sings feelings but not in a serious manner. He inspires moustaches. He exudes fun. He [...]

On Wednesday, April 3rd, Darwin Deez and Caged Animals performed at Bowery Ballroom in New York, NY. See more images from this post.

Darwin Deez comes to DC from Asheville via NYC via Wesleyan University, where he was a classmate of the guys from MGMT, the lead singer of Francis and the Lights, the guys in Yeasayer, the guys in Bear Hands, the guys in Das Racist, etc. (Can you imagine the house parties that were going on in those years at Wesleyan? You could see a Yeasayer/MGMT/Darwin Deez triple billing in front of 12 people in someone's basement. Tickets would cost $0 unless you didn't want to be a jerk and contributed to the keg fund.) Deez plays smart indie [...]

Cheers Elephant are back in their old stomping grounds after an extensive national tour and stop at SXSW. Their most recent release Like Wind Blows Fire is rock through rose-colored glasses - the same rosy pink that dominates the LP's cover art. The pop-rock outfit keeps their sound relatively simple and put together. It's the effects-laden guitar, played by Jordan Del Rosario, which gives them their psychedelic feel. Combine this with a tight drum kick by Travelin' Matt, deep bass lines from Robert Kingsley, and dreamy, low-key vocals by Derek Krzywicki, making for [...]

Darwin's set featured songs from both his debut album and this year's Songs for Imaginative People , plus a little choreography and other theatrics. For Caged Animals it was a chance to debut [...]
Indie rockers Darwin Deez play the First Unitarian Church tonight. The Asheville, North Carolina band formed in New York City in 2009, feeling at home at the Sidewalk Cafe, a launching pad for off-beat pop acts including Kimya Dawson and Adam Green. The band released their self-titled debut of upbeat, dance-along tracks shortly after in ... Continue reading

As spring begins to cycle into summer, we look to our trend-streaming leaders for entertainment and thrills of any sort. We saw Tyler the Creator taking selfies with Letterman on their televised performance of "Rusty", Vampire Weekend's Modern Vampires Of The City release date delays on account of "unanticipated delays" gave time for front bro Ezra Koenig to reflect and compare N-Dubz to The Beatles, while Rick Ross's "U.O.E.N.O"-rape-lyrics-gate scand...

Delicate Steve @ Subterranean From Chicago to Columbus to Austin, FP saw a lot of awesome shows in March. Today we continue our live music roundup for the month that was supposed to be warm but wasn't -except for the week we spent in the land of free beer and barbecue. Five of the bands I am most looking forward to at Live At Leeds, the city music festival taking place over May Bank Holiday…for the price of what, 4 pints in London? 1975 Huw Stevens, Zane Lowe and Fearne Cotton all love The City by 1975 , and I am inclined to agree that as upbeat summer struts go, it’s not at all bad. Now let’s find some summer. Little Comets Thundering slaps, wailing and whirring, jangling [...]
