Darwin Deez is simply amazing. His minimalistic approach to indie rock is something that is rarely seen in successful bands and much less in obscure artists like Darwin Deez himself. Somwhat of a fusion between Bombay Bicycle Club and TDCD, Deez mixes indie rock with simple rhythms and repetitive drum tracks. However, the formula works: a guitar, drums and a couple keys equals great music! His self-entitled debut album was released just last year. Darwin Deez - Constellations Darwin Deez - DNA [...]

While we have brought you some awesome Podcasts already, this one might be my favorite. When I say Danny Brown is one of my favorite emcees on the rise, I think I speak for just about every Potholer out there. With that being said, you would have expected to hear some great hip-hop on this mix, right? Think again! Instead of slinging some expected raps our way, he went the indie route and dropped a rather eclectic blend of new and old. With artists like Darwin Deez, Prince, Radiohead and Camu Tao, you get the complete opposite side of [...]
That loveable, curly haired beat maker and unusual guitar stringed player Darwin Deez has posted up a cool video of the track "Lights On" which features a video of them performing at T In The Park last summer. To be precise it shows a sped up clip of their set from the point of view of centre stage behind the drum kit. It's a nice insight to see what it looks like for a band who are loved on the festival circuit and you also get to see some of the guys' crazy dance routines in [...]

Darwin Deez ? More like Darwin 'Unreal' Steez. Just look at this guy, he's the perfect blend between Napoleon Dynamite and his brother Kip but he totally rocks the look Anywho, hailing from New York City Darwin Deez brings us their infectiously brand of quirky indie rock tunes with this gem, Radar Detector [...]

Well my tan has faded and the allure of 3am Kebabalicious has worn off. I’m left with only great memories from a music-filled week and a multitude of killer new sounds to keep me going until 2012…well probably not that long, at least until my next festival. Can you say… Pitchfork Fest? I can. What I have for you is just about every act I caught at SXSW 2011. From dupstep to soul, hip hop to good old rock and rock. All of what makes the SXSW experience so incredible. Enjoy! [...]

So I went down to Texas for SXSW again this year, and a lot of stuff happened. It was like one hot blur from which it's hard to recall specific instances out of the general mayhem of it all. It's difficult to register much when you're being constantly shuffled between 30 minute sets, and I repeatedly found myself referring to the experience as a marathon. Luckily I took a few notes on some particularly special shows. Here we go. My first show of the festival was Darwin Deez , which was [...]
Darwin Deez hung out with us at the Gibson Guitar Showroom before his show at the Black Cat to talk to us about touring, his growing presence in the states and what the future holds in store for him. Another superb production job from Sebastien Tobler and Tara Kocourek . MP3: Darwin Deez - "Up In The Clouds (Jake Bullit Remix)"
Darwin Deez stopped by the Gibson Guitar Showroom before his show at the Black Cat to talk and play some music for us. Check out this intimate performance of "Bed Space," one of the more emotional tracks off his eponymous debut album. Seriously, great stuff. Many thanks to the always-awesome Sebastien Tobler and Tara Kocourek for making this happen. MP3: Darwin Deez - "Bed Space"

I have a friend crush on Brooklyn's Friends Might be a little late on this one, but I'm obsessed with this track, " Friend Crush " by Brooklyn's FRIENDS . Sultry frontwoman Samantha gives you the come hither as she beckons like a siren, “ I wanna be your friend ", which almost has that warm fuzzy vibe of The Stone Roses' " I Wanna Be Adored" to it. They have been signed to the label, Lucky Number, which also claims props for the launch of DARWIN DEEZ. [...]

Friends From: Brooklyn, New York, United States New York, Friends and not a coffee shop in site. No the Devil hasn't given up reviewing music for a life as a TV critic these New Yorkers are an ice pop band from Brooklyn. They're apparently bosom buddies of Darwin Deez but please don't let that put you off. They are also the most difficult band to find on Myspace. Try googling them. Every Myspace page in the [...]

Last Thursday, Painted Face opened for New York’s geek-chic pop stars Darwin Deez at the Black Cat’s main stage. The show was initially set to be held at the smaller backstage, but was moved to the main stage last minute. This was a good move. The main stage was packed with energetic teenagers as soon as Darwin Deez started playing. The crowd for the opening band, however, was smaller, but supportive. Their glam electro-pop synth-heavy songs were as delightful and dreamy as I remember they were in January, but the crowd didn’t seem too [...]

Thursday First, get ready to throw down some knowledge at Rock n' Roll Hotel's trivia night . Then celebrate your victory by checking out Baltimore's Double Dagger at the Black Cat . Hold on, the night isn't over yet. You've still got time to cut a rug or two at Trouble & Bass over at U Hall . Friday Ready to get your metal on? ![DARWIN DEEZ – Constellations (T.E.E.D. / SBTRKT Remixes) [Lucky Number]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3229426_lg.jpg)
If a track sounds very familiar to you.... then it probably is. But if it still sounds recognizable and you know to yourself that this is the first time that you’ve heard that song, then hey! – thats the same thing I thought when I first heard this D.D. Original! For the mixes on ‘Constellations,’ top marks go out to SBTRKT who go sideways left: joyful & voyager and then sideways right: tribal & emotional! T.E.E.D (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs) have lots of fun going all spacey and melancholy, but keep things on course to traverse that excellent [...]
