I admire people like Toby who stick to genuine singles for their year end lists, but I can't do it. It's harder and harder to know what it means anyway. The Fresh & Onlys made a fancy video for "Waterfall" but didn't release it as 7" -- is it still a single? (It's not on list anyway, but another of theirs is.) I don't worry about it, clearly, as my #1 was an album cut. An AWESOME album cut. I do still feel singles are meant to be ephemeral. If I'm not listening to some of these tracks [...]

Darwin's cry face My last bad day was on Monday. We had a torrential rain here in São Paulo, with floods of water running down the streets that also somehow managed to find a hole in the roof of the office, filling the lamp bulb full of water and causing it to smash onto the floor. We got sent home to finish work, and having forgotten my umbrella, had to walk 5 blocks in the pouring rain. The whole day was a wet mess! The last day that I wished somebody else [...]

Purchase Darwin Deez - Radar Detector @ iTunes | Amazon Can't believe this song has been out since April. It's an instantly catchy tune. Simple and effective. At the end of the first listen you're already singing the words and dancing along. In addition to the up-beat and melodic qualities of the song, the video is just plain fun. If you dislike this song then there must be no warmth in your heart and soul. Darwin Deez - [...]
Having trained as a molecular biologist, I considered Darwin Deez 's 'DNA' video dubiously at first, especially considering the lyrics to the song: "but you don't care, or understand / how it feels to be a single double strand." Uh huh. I suppose if it makes people more interested in science, all the better. Watch the sunny promo video for 'DNA' below. Click here to view the embedded video.

Seems like she's been around forever. She got tons of play this year, and I just don't see what differentiates her pop from everyone else's. Unless it's the right one and the left one. 20. The Sunshine Underground 'Nobody's Coming To Save You' - The punk-funking may be relevant no more, but this is still so plausible. 19. Jimmy Eat World 'Invented' - Probably their greatest stab since 'Futures', its classic sentimentality proves that JEW fans can still believe. 18. Darwin Deez 'Darwin Deez' - A buoyant and snappy record that, yes, is ideal for the [...]

Christmas came early for football fans here in town. I feel kind of bad relishing in the misery of others, but Josh McDaniels made his own grave, and subsequently, he has gone from Denver to lie in it. They say it was because he had too much say/power in all aspects of the team. I wonder how he would've done if he had only spent his time drawing up x's and o's, instead of making bad personnel decisions. One thing I do know, is that any change is an immediate improvement. Thank God the [...]

"DNA" by Darwin Deez. I listened to quite a lot of Darwin Deez's self-titled record this year, having to double check that indeed it hadn't come out yet (while considering records for my best of 2010 list). We'll have to wait until Feb 22nd of next year when it officially hits shelves and online stores.

Darwin Deez ' forthcoming double A side (accompanied on one side by 'DNA') 'Bad Day' was one I became familiar with before the album came out; accompanied by the cutesy cute animated video from Anika Mottershaw . I had it on repeat, and I'm sure of the total plays this video has, I'm responsible for at least 100 in the course of my obsession with it. Check it: Bad Day by Darwin Deez I guess I related to that [...]
[mp3] Darwin Deez: "Radar Detector" The UK's Darwin Deez has been flirting with breakout success behind his solid self-titled release which apparently sees US release on 2/22 but is available on eMusic now, and has been on our iPods for some time. Despite the confusion, Deez has built up a good amount of momentum stateside, and we hope it continues to grow. With an instantly likable amalgamation of dancey party grooves and crisp songwriting, we're sure that under the right circumstances Darwin Deez is fixin to have a great 2011. He's on tour [...]

The video, directed by Miles Crawford, and choreographed by Joshua Pelatzky, follows a couple along on a 3 minute choreographed dance sequence- originating in their kitchen, the camera follows them through their apartment, into a park, all the way down into the bottom of a pool, then back up to the surface where they regroup with several others for the culmination...and they never miss a beat. Some of their moves even rival Darwin's now-infamous fancy footwork! [...]
We've talked about Darwin Deez in the past and how much we love about the guy. There's just so many cool things about the guy that make you not only want to listen to his music and watch his shows, you want this dude to come to your house and chill with you too. He's got a ton of North American dates coming up to support the long-awaited U.S. release of his self-titled debut album (out 2/22 via Lucky Number). Now we have a new music video to share for "DNA" as well. [...]

Darwin Smith writes, records, produces and arranges using a 4-string electric guitar in his own invented, secret tuning. Five years ago, he left Wesleyan University to start a band in New York City. His current live set features his original songs, harsh electronic noise, and bouts of synchronized dancing. He has been dubbed the Michael Jackson of indie rock.
