I've never been to Bonnaroo. I've always wanted to go but I never had the money/didn't have the time/wasn't impressed by the line up. Since last summer, our Amrit Singh has been putting together an independent short film called Dosa Hunt , with Das Racist's Himanshu Suri and Ashok Kondabolu, Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij, Yeasayer's Anand Wilder, Neon Indian's Alan Palomo, and NYC jazz stalwart Vijay Iyer. It chronicles a day spent by the group in pursuit of NYC's finest version of South Indian staple dish, dosa. Stopping by Australia's Triple J studios, Chairlift and Kool A.D. run through a quick chat and eventually perform a cover of Beyonce's hit, "Party". Slowing things down a bit, the indie rockers drop some funky '80s instrumentation on the track, leaving A.D. to spit during the originally designated Andre 3000 verse. Thanks to reader memoryboy for sending us this link to Triple J radio, where Chairlift and DR rap star Victor Vazquez aka Kool A.D. cover Beyoncé's "Party." In it, Caroline plays the part of Beyoncé and Kool that of André, and though this would have had fascinating results if they had reversed roles, everyone benefits from this more conventional casting because a) Caroline has a great voice for covers (I have seen her do an incredible "Wuthering Heights") and b) Victor is a rap star.
