Datassette or Datashat, are the aliases of London based computer programmer and producer John Davies. His signature digital sound has the crunch of vintage synthesizers but maintains a clean edge. The sonic landscapes he creates are reminiscent of a video game, which isn't surprising seeing as how he has made one of those too . The Datassette website has a pretty extensive free downloads section, so go check it out. Here are a few gems: Datashat - "Stop The Message" (originally posted back in 2007 on Remix Sunday 61) [...]

Holy smokes I'm turning into a html genius (not really)! It's probably the hardest thing I've ever tried to do (JK) but seriously, just searching through thousands of lines of code just to change some incredibly minute detail, figuring out how to embed flash mp3 players and trying to deal with Google AdSense is enough to make me tired all over... I've had to redo this thing like 4 times to get it right. But it won't be long until the "blogosphere" is like the matrix, and I am the one :-O Anyways I figured I should [...]

Love them or loathe them, end of year lists are something there's simply no escaping from and while such things are at best subjective they usually provide a few surprises, a little fun and a few new bits and pieces for the inquisitive to go and investigate. Unlike last year, I've actually managed to compile my best of's before the year's out and in doing so it's reminded me what a great year it was for electronic music...again! Langer's already done a tidy little summary of the year that was and as our taste's are fairly closely aligned I see [...]

Big day for North America today. The direct correlation of a new American president holds weight up here across the frigid border north and down across the crispy border south (Waddup Lee - Enjoy Mex). Let the votes do the talking and the bullshit do the walking. I think Yelle put it best in our interview but I'm not pulling for any candidate in particular, right ;) Some cutz I'm feelin' on this momentous day [...]

I'm not writing very much about Electronica, but I do have a soft spot for that synthetic stuff somewhere inside me. I guess the 80ies must have planted that bug. Anyway, I just came across this project called Datassette , and after listening to a few tunes, I've decided that it's good enough to get a mention here. Information on who's behind Datassette is scarce; I only know that the project's based in London and has been around for a few years now. It could well be [...]

...and i'm broke ass, so if you're looking to have an event planned, or need to have some "professional looking" marketing materials made, hit me up. that being said, i had a huge post in mind for my grand return, but instead, i got distracted by a wave of nostalgia brought on by a night spent watching 80s tv intros. what does this have to do with music? well, first watch this: now download these (cover) tracks from [...]

Sorry i've been quiet lately. I've been pretty ill to be honest, but seem to be on the road to recovery now. I should have been furnishing you with reports on last weekend's Camden Crawl, but had to give it a miss. I did manage to crawl out and see Maps at the ICA last night though, which was pretty great. Save for a frenetic drummer it wasn't the most charismatic of live performances, but the
