First off, there's no Scott and there's no Charlene in Scott and Charlene's Wedding. It's just NYC via Melbourne, Australia songwriter Craig Dermody. Also of note, Dermody is a slacker in the Malkmus tradition. On the surface it seems he ain't even tryin' - One can hear the chuckle of a man unprepared for the tape at the start of "Fakin' NYC," the guitars are conspicuously out of tune, and Dermody isn't particularly concerned with singing in key, either. Yet, and this is the take away, he has a gift for both melody and words. In its own [...]

If Leonard Cohen is the man with the golden voice, Daughn Gibson is the man with evil stuck in his throat. His deep crooning vocals drip with a restrained passion that causes every syllable to swirl around with darkness and contemplation. Gibson's music is always a force striking your speakers, a sentiment echoed by his live performance where he drives the microphone stand into the ground over and over, beating the melody home. Now we have two new offerings as a preview of Gibson's first LP release on Sub Pop records. Both new tracks are dynamic [...]
For the low price of your email address, you can grab a free download of 'You Don't Fade', a new Daughn Gibson track. Included on his spohmore release, Me Moan , 'You Don't Fade' is a gritty rock track, all heavy guitars with chopped vocal samples careening in the background. Vaughn channels his inner Nick Cave through a Southern rock filter with great results. Me Moan will be available via Sub Pop on July 8.
The Pennsylvanian croaker-songwriter Daughn Gibson is about to drop sophomore album Me Moan , which features guitar work from Baroness's John Baizley, and we got a taste of his new scorched-earth sound when we posted first single " The Sound Of Law ." And now we get to hear the album track "You Don't Fade," which pulls tons of tense atmosphere from a stuttering sample and Gibson's own screwed-up Nick Cave voice. It's a heavy song, and you can use the widget below to stream or download it. Read More...

Daughn Gibson is an artist who receives a lot of praise around these parts, and rightfully so. It's an interesting style of music, think Merle Haggard with synth beats, that evokes everyone's inner fist pump in the air. Daughn has a new track for us today called "You Don't Fade" that will appear on his new album Me Moan due out July 9th via Sub Pop Records . Of course the deep vocal range is there, making us all try to mimic, but failing miserably. The beats are also once again solid as ever. Download: [...]

Country / folk project Hiss Golden Messenge r will join Carlisle, PA native Daughn Gibson at Johnny Brenda's on August 16th. Though a relatively new name to most, MC Taylor (one-half of Hiss Golden Messenger's core) has been making music for 20 years in various bands including California indie rock outfit The Court & Spark and hardcore band Ex-Ignota. April's Haw , however, has spurred a current of attention and admiration for the North Carolina resident's deeply reflective and inquisitive songwriting. While earlier HGM releases were recorded as a partnership [...]

Anyone who read our post on Daughn Gibson's album All Hell , back in the summer last year will know just what an impact it had on us, as we first laid ears on what was possibly the most twisted Americana record of 2012. Since then we've been following the fella pretty closely as he signed to the big hitting Subpop label. And now we have the news we were waiting for - a new album delightfully titled Me Moan (out in July), and a first taste in the [...]

A new song surfaced yesterday from the husky baritone voice of Sub Pop's Daughn Gibson called "The Sound Of Law." The track is off his upcoming full-length album Me Moan , which also feautures guitar work from Baroness frontman John Baizley.
With All Hell and particularly the sampledelic redneck opus "Tiffany Lou," Daughn Gibson was one of the more unique breakout artists last year. Well, now, as it happens, he's signed to Sub Pop and going for a bigger statement with "The Sound Of Law" – a first taste from the upcoming Me Moan LP. The deep vocal drawl, manic sampling and countrified nods are still present, but this track is more aggressive and sturdy than his past work.

Following the release of his 2012 debut, All Hell , the dangerously deep-voiced Daughn Gibson is back with a new album entitled Me Moan . From the LP comes 'The Sound of Law', in which the Pennsylvanian's modulated baritone lurches over a frantic, pulsating drumbeat. For nearly three minutes, it's as though you're being chased through the woods by a beast that's just devoured the bones of Scott Walker and Nick Cave. Me Moan comes out on July 9th, via Sub Pop, coinciding with Gibson's extensive summer [...]
Sub Pop debut to feature more live instrumentation, Baroness' John Baizley. The post Daughn Gibson announces new album, Me Moan appeared first on Treble: Music news, reviews, interviews and more .
Capital "W" Wow, here, ladies and gents. "The Sound of Law," the new single from Central Pennsylvania experimental songwriter Daughn Gibson, is frantic, dark and utterly captivating. The pulse is heavier than we heard on his 2012 LP All Hell, and his booming baritone beckons across a spiky path of drumbeats and screeching, eerie, uneasy ... Continue reading

How could one not be impressed with All Hell, the 2012 debut record by Daughn Gibson ? With an unlikely combination of downtempo-electro, hip-hop, country and western, and trucker music, the man practically invented a genre all his own. And as if the vision wasn't impressive enough, there was the voice - A strong and foreboding baritone which recalled the legendary man in black, himself. "The Sound of Law," is the first taste of Gibson's Sub Pop follow-up, Me Moan, due out on July 8th, and it hints at a more rugged sound for Gibson. [...]
