I just came across this news earlier today - Saxophonist LeRoi Moore, who was one of the original members of the Dave Matthew's Band, passed away yesterday. He was involved in an accident back in June, and passed away due to complications. Born Gary Lee Moore in North Carolina, LeRoi was a classically-trained musician who had command of a wide range of instruments: bass, baritone, tenor, alto, and soprano saxophones; and the flute, bass clarinet and wooden penny whistle. We're sad to throw it out there, but Dave Matthews Band 's resident horn player LeRoi Moore has passed away in Los Angeles, as a result of complications from an ATV accident. The band has an official statement up, and suffice it to say, everyone is a bit shocked. In the meantime, it's looking like Bela Fleck bandmember Jeff Coffin is filling in. While their output has drifted from our tastes in the past few years, DMB have created some fantastic records, and Moore will be sorely missed.

LeRoi Moore, one of the founding members of the Dave Matthews Band, died earlier today in Los Angeles from complications due to an ATV accident he was in in June of this year. The saxaphonist was 46 years old, and had been playing with the band since its inception in 1991. He was born in Nurham, North Carolina and grew up on the same street as fellow band member Carter Beauford in Charlotsville, Virginia.
