On paper it seems both strange and kind of brilliant. A self-styled starlet who [...]
Ben Talmi wants to fuck with your ears. He does not want you to know that his instrument collection is limited, or that his recordings rarely extend beyond his bedroom. In an age where popular music is bursting with superfluous production it is hard to blame him. Talmi recorded his debut EP, For the Dreamers, [...]

Banda indie falha miseravelmente nessa tentativa.
Clips from two essential albums ( Acid Tongue and Dear Science ) released about this time two years ago. And if two years is too arbitrary for you then Dave Sitek's solo effort just dropped, as did Jenny Lewis' first turn as part of Jenny and Johnny, I'm Having Fun Now .

Roughly speaking we just hit the end of Tunde's proclaimed year-long hiatus for TV On The Radio. Safe to assume a decent interval remains before we get some new TV On The Radio music or even news. And if you're at this blog and reading this post it's not too big a leap to guess you have some...passing...interest in TV On The Radio and the members so if one of the founding members and aural architect has a solo release coming out that sounds a bit like his dayjob and features Tunde Adebimpe and Kyp Malone on a [...]

Maximum Balloon is the solo project of Dave Sitek, the producer extraordinaire and guitarist from the highly influential New York based indie band, TV On The Radio . As the band had taken a year-long hiatus since around this time last year for much needed downtime, Sitek has been continually working away on several projects including the self-titled solo album due out this Tuesday. The album is one you'd expect from an artist that has honed his craft and discovered what he's good at; and that's making cohesive, well-written music. Featured on the record are collaborators such as David Byrne, [...]
I think we might have stumbled on a new column for Tuesdays when I recommended Wilderness Heart instead of listing all new releases. And considering previous posts I don't think it betraying our hand to say Maximum Balloon might take take the spot this coming Tuesday. We've heard the album in full by now and it's worthy to say the least. For now though I'm off to YouTube to figure if Sitek is sampling a mid 802s to early 902s television commercial, which I want to say was for batteries or cough drops. Duracell maybe?? Enjoy [...]

Filed under: News , Video , New Music , Exclusive When Mars Volta keyboardist Isaiah Owens told Spinner that the debut Maximum Balloon album was going to be a "party record," he wasn't kidding. An all-star collaborative side project helmed by TV on the Radio 's Dave Sitek , the album has already been, justifiably, compared to Gorillaz ' 'Plastic Beach.' "I decided to do Maximum Balloon to [...]

In just 10 days, Dave Sitek will drop his debut solo record as Maximum Balloon, but until then, the TV on the Radio member and Yeah Yeah Yeahs producer is previewing 3 tunes from the self-titled LP on MySpace . Alongside Theophilus London-featuring cut "Groove Me" and "Tiger" (with Aku) is the catchy, disco-ready jam "Communion," in which Karen O requests, "Gimme that beat / Show your love," via Studio 54-destined time machine. "Communion" is the best song off Maximum Balloon I've heard so far, and added proof that the Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman's brilliant [...]

TV on the Radio 's Dave Sitek, under his solo moniker Maximum Balloon , hooks up with Yeah Yeah Yeahs front woman Karen O for the sultry, slow-burning "Communion", where the indie-rock siren wails give me that beat! in typical YYYs fashion. "Communion" comes of off Sitek's forthcoming debut solo album Maximum Balloon , out September 21 on Interscope. Listen to it below: You can still listen to Maximum Balloon 's collaboration with TV on the Radio lead singer Tunde Adebimpe, [...]
I ran down link-parties last week but I've got a little primer on how our site works and I didn't want it to stand alone. The Yahoo Media Player will keep playing music even after the initial song you pick. The program looks for the next MP3 on that page and autoplays, and at any one time there are probably twenty or so tracks on a given page. So, press play, open a fresh tab in your browser and do your browsing while our stuff plays in the background...if you knew already, high-five. If not, have fun. [...]

Dave Sitek is all set to release his Maximum Balloon project on the world on September 21st and the video below shows the TV on the Radio mastermind explaining why he chose to work on MB. We have also included the track "Groove Me" and all of its variations/remixes since we negelected to post these in the past (for the most part.) Enjoy and grab yourself a copy on the 21st! [...]

If you recall , Maximum Balloon is TV On The Radio's Dave Sitek's increasingly impressive solo project. Sitek's debut album, also called Maximum Balloon , is out September 21 and features vocals from TV on The Radio's Tunde Adebimpe, Yeah Yeah Yeahs' front woman Karen O and up-and-coming rapper Theophilus London, among others. This new track, "Quantum Exit" won't actually be on the album but is found on the B side of the album's first single, "Tiger" . Stream it below: The trumpet-led instrumental track sizzles and soars, boasting [...]

Best way to sell your solo debut if you aren't quite a name brand to the record buying (torrenting) public? Get the front-man from your big time day job on a track. "Absence of Light," which features Tunde Adebimpe, is the latest track from Sitek's forthcoming debut Maximum Balloon and invokes TV On The Radio more than a little which is fine because who knows when TV On The Radio will get back in the studio, and of course we're pulling for Sitek's solo effort, this can only help.

Rising artist MNDR describes herself as a "mega gear nerd" who aspires to not make albums but make every song "a number one hit." Her declaration seems overly pompous, but catch her live, and you'll realize she seriously does have the attitude to possibly make the dream a reality. The Bay area electronic artist played a show at Bardot in Hollywood last monday before Dave Sitek took the stage in support of his new project Maximum Balloon. She left the audience clearly satisfied. If her part on Mark Ronson's "Bang Bang Bang" with Q-Tip wasn't enough, [...]
