Ever wondered what 'No One Asked To Dance' by Deerhoof would sound like if Satomi Matsuzaki's vocals were replaced with David Bazans ? Of course you have! We ask ourselves that question on the regular. Anyway, as if by magic (though we fully suspect Polyvinyl have been reading our diaries) the track has appeard online. It's taken from the Deerhoof/David Bazan split 7", which is out now on limited edition clear blue vinyl. Listen below, then order it here .

Hear the impressive collab and pick up the 7".

2011 was an exciting year for Andy Plank. He began his career in writing, the Packers won the Super Bowl , he rediscovered Comedy Bang Bang and he got big red glasses. He spent most of the 365 days between January 1 and December 31 listening to albums that came out early in the discographies of Weezer, Modest Mouse, Blink 182 and Jimmy Eat World. Every once in a while, however, he stopped being so bitter about all of his favorite bands that crumpled and faltered under the pressure of becoming popular and he listened to a few new [...]

Peter played to a jam-packed crowd at The Cabin in November Peter Miller is We Are The Willows, and we love his stuff . A Twin Cities man, he defines life in the fast lane. When he isn't hacking the homeland security mainframe, he's day-trading at the NYSE via bluetooth. This plus all the great music he makes amounts to a busy schedule. But, dear man that he is, he took to time to share his top 5 albums of 2011. We hope this list whets your curiosity and provides insight into just what makes [...]

Watch Chris Carrabba (Dashboard Confessional), David Bazan (Pedro the Lion), William Fitzsimmons, Noah and Abby Gundersen (The Courage), and Mariah McManus perform Bob Dylan and the Band's 'I Shall Be Released' for To Write Love on Her Arms.

In what was certainly the pinnacle of TWLOHA's Heavy and Light 2012 , Chris Carrabba, David Bazan, William Fitzsimmons, Mariah McManus, Noah Gundersen, and Abby Gundersen cover Bob Dylan's "I Shall Be Released".

My blog has always overlapped between music and my life, often times because the two intersect with my work in music in general- or because I'm a woman that likes to tell everyone everything? I hope you appreciate the sincerity, because I want you to feel like there's a real human on the other side of this thing. As most of you know, I'm a huge fan of Dave Bazan. I've seen him in handfuls of cities, in stranger's living rooms, and it's been easy to be loyal to his discography because I started separating from my religious [...]

I believe strongly in the work that Two Write Love On Her Arms does. I also believe in my love for William Fitzsimmons, Chris Carrabba (Dashboard Confessional) and David Bazan (Pedro The Lion). Together, they make up the 2012 edition of Heavy and Light, TWLOHA's annual benefit concert. I'll be there, and if you live in Orlando (or anywhere in the area - I'll be driving the 90ish miles from Tampa), it would be great if you would come, too. There are still tickets available for a mere $24 (no service charge).

Welcome to FWBA's best-of 2011. This has been such a meaningful year in music to me that it's tough to represent in one post. I'm going to be honest, this took me quite a long time. I wanted to do this year justice because personally, it was a total dream: living in San Diego working with some of my favorite artists, going to SXSW and Lollapalooza, seeing Dave Bazan in stranger's living rooms, Feist play a hometown show, saw tune-yards electrified show at Soda Bar clocking in as one of my favorite performances, watching Zach Rogue and my boyfriend playing [...]

This year's list of favorites is fairly sedate (even for me), with just a little ruckus here and there. Lots of morning-coffee music, which I guess says something about my 2011. But music's strength is its pliability. It can be whatever you need it to be at the moment, especially when we have instant access to virtually any song ever recorded, often for free . Judging by this list, I needed music to be a salve more than a release valve this year. I also never expected my favorite album to come from someone who held the [...]
David Bazan remains earnest and eager.
Kelli Schaefer ::: photo by Dylan Priest Having fallen deep down a used-vinyl sized hole this year, I managed to completely miss most of the national blog buzz bands and mp3s making the press release copy&paste rounds of 2011, those things that so often fill end of the year lists. But considering the immense output from [...]

Quiet Company are recording a series of covers of their favorite artists, and this one happens to be one of my favorite artists as well. David Bazan / Pedro The Lion played a huge part in the development of my taste in music, and "When They Really Get To Know You They Will Run" is one of my favorite tracks. Watch Quiet Company do it justice here, then head over and join their Patronism site to check out the rest.
Tweetvaso link This is quickly being worn out because I've had it on repeat since I saw it the other day; it's David Bazan covering Low's "Just Like Christmas," and it's pretty much my favorite thing going for the time being. There's something perfectly melancholy about the way Bazan sounds; it's playing right into my...

Pine trees and icicles and carolers - check. But can we please just talk for a moment about how it was -2 degrees the other night in Colorado? TWO BELOW, with howling winds. I like the beer , but man alive that makes for some cold sleeping. All the golden loveliness of autumn is gone, and in its place we have this icy, silent cocoon all around us, luminescent and silvery-blue. Perhaps I just have to survive these next two weeks of school, and maybe go on a little cookie-baking binge, and [...]

By Alex Brenner Best of 2011 (in no particular order) Well it's been a pretty good year for music I guess. Some real strong releases and of course some real turds, thanks Metallica. So here is my list of what I liked about 2011. 1. Wye Oak - Civilian . This band is phenomenal, live they are amazing. Great songs but also very dynamic and sonically always surprising. I guess a great mix between country and shoegazing [...]
