[photo courtesy of Amanda Hatfield ] "Heads up out there, this is David Byrne. During our show, we welcome picture taking, video recording, audio recording..." Whoa. From a taper's standpoint, that was some of the best news I'd heard in a long time. David Byrne's opening announcement at all of the shows on this current tour with St. Vincent has included that invitation, which we happily accepted for the Williamsburg Waterfront show on Saturday night. As these two amazing musicians tour in support of their collaborative album Love This Giant [...]

On Thursday the 20th of September, we attended a show at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Toronto that far surpassed our expectations. David Byrne and St. Vincent delivered a concert full of musical twists and turns along with beautiful arrangements. As they entered the stage, the twelve piece line up featuring an eight-piece brass section broke out into a refreshing version of their first single Who . David Byrne and Annie Clark took turns trading off on old classics and new favourites. Ranging from St. Vincent's lovely Marrow to Talking Heads' Burning Down the [...]

![[Reviews Roundup] September 2012](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4535020_lg.jpg)
With all the craziness of music blogging, from concerts to press releases to interviews to festivals, it can be hard to find time to sit down, listen to an album and give it an honest, thorough review. With that in mind, we came up with the Reviews Roundup , a way for us to look back at all of the major releases in the past month and give them an on-the-spot review. Whether we like them or not, we'll spout out a quick blurb about the album to give an overall impression of what makes it good or bad [...]

David Byrne has reappeared with fellow semi-weirdo St. Vincent on “Love This Giant”. The role of the semi-weirdo is a tricky spot to play in pop, and he has done it deftly for a while now, as has Madam Vincent. The weirdness here is the horns. For whatever the reason the principals have decided to invite wind instrument luminaries and make the horn section the backbone. Except it isn’t just a horn section and it isn’t the backbone you’re thinking of. I love hooks. And horns are great at hooks. I read “horn section” and I think Tower [...]
