This is from his newest album Late Edition.
I can't count the number of times where I have seen one of my favorite bands/artists in concert, only to have the them complain about getting hassled and/or held up at the US/Canadian border by surly/grumpy Canadian customs and immigrations officers. I actually got to witness this "musician" vs. "THE MAN" interaction last Friday, and it was pretty entertaining. I use "musician" in quotes because these juvenile delinquents claimed to be rappers, and I use "THE MAN" in quotes as THE MAN was actually a woman. Regular readers of this blog (all three of you) will know [...]

David Francey : February Morning Drive [ purchase ] I would like to thank Kat of Keep the Coffee Coming for introducing me to the wonderful music of David Francey. I'm not including a link to Kat, because, as I write this, her blog is off line. If anyone has more information about this, please leave it in the comments. Thank you. David Francey grew up to age 12 in Scotland. At that point, he and his family relocated to Canada. The Francey family loved going for Sunday [...]

Here's something simple and beautiful from Canadian (by way of Scotland) folk singer David Francey . I've loved everything I've heard from David so I look forward to hearing more of his music on Saturday, March 20 at 10:00 PM at Stephen F's Bar. No, it's not Saturday already; it's not theme day. Thoughts of the open road put Gypsies in mind. This is from Torn Screen Door. MP3 File
This is from David's second album Far End of Summer which was voted 2001 album of the year and won a Juno. I have become a huge David Francey fan. I love the simplicity of his music, its amazing harmony and beautiful lyrics. MP3 File
You know by now I'm a David Francey fan from how often he appears here. He is a Canadian by way of Scotland where he was born. He sings stories; he sings of love, of loss and of the beauty of Canada. He sings of simple things but blows you away with the beauty of his words and music. I could go on and on, but if you listen, that should be more than enough. This is from Skating Rink, David's third album released in 2003. [...]

Keep the Coffee Coming has a virtual stranglehold on all the music blog coverage of Canadian folk artist David Francey . But I'm not sure if, even with all her support over the past three years, she's posted anything yet from David's 2007 release Right Of Passage . So I'll take this sliver of a crack that she's given me and add my two cents to the discussion of David Francey (I added my other cent back in back in November of 2006 here ). A record that may [...]
David Francey is from Canada. He is a singer-songwriter gifted with the ability to paint pictures with his words and music. He has this pure, simple sound which reminds me of an earlier time in folk music. The album from which this song comes, The Far End of Summer, won the Juno Award, Canada's Grammy, for best Roots and Traditional Album - Solo category. MP3 File
