The titles which were nominated represent some of the most original and interesting indie games ever produced, with stand-out [...]

Without intending to sound pretentious (although instantly resigning this piece to that fate), Proteus, created by Ed Key and David Kanaga, is not so much a game as it is a pleasant experience. One which everyone should share in. Straightaway it is easy to see why it won Notch's Game of the Year earlier this month at the Indievisibility Awards for, at their core, both Proteus and Notch's Minecraft have a common theme running through them. Both games are centred on the joy one can derive from exploring an interesting environment. However, while Minecraft allows [...]

Beautiful, gently psyched-out folk by Eugene, Oregon musician David Kanaga who has had a pretty constant output of quite a variety of little pop gems in the last couple of months. His latest Flower Walk EP , available for free via his bandcamp (note this wonderful cover art which is a detail of Hieronymus Busch's masterpiece The Garden of Earthly Delights ), is in my eyes and ears his best collection of songs to date, splendid melodies and a lot of ethereal and fairy-tale resembling sounds coming from here and there, cheerful and happy [...]

My Friend Wallis Vancouver, Canada Crystal Dorval I started My Friend Wallis as a recording side project to another band I used to play in called Vincat. Things fizzled out with that so I ended up adopting My Friend Wallis as my main brain child. I released my first EP "When The Blue Turned Yellow" in June 2009 and the release party was my first show and basically the start of the band. The [...]
photo by Matthew Craig I know it's been quite a while, but I've taken a little break for my mental well-being. I'll be enjoying the remaining days of summer in Seattle at the Bumbershoot Festival. So expect amazing photos, interviews and coverage. I'll be kicking things into gear upon my return. Thanks for reading! 1. David Kanaga - "The Way I Feel" (mp3) I couldn't believe my ears when I heard even more great electro out of Walla Walla, Washington. Whitman College, of all places, has spawned not only [...]
