Well here I am, my own little corner of the web, somewhere to force my opinions on anyone who cares to swing by. Just to outline, I know that there are countless reams of music blogs around the place, but I just want to throw my hat in and get all my kind of music in one place. So, how to begin? Well this is the first post, and in the most tenuous way, this is a marriage of the web with my taste in music, so lets spin that analogy out for as long as we can shall we? [...]

I've been rather derelict in my blogging lately- life just hasn't been condusive to a lot of writing. But I've managed to keep up with the mixtapes, and new music. In fact, this week I'm packing in the new stuff. New demo/leaks from Weezer, Coldplay and Oasis... New Fratellis, new pigeon Detectives, and new Futureheads... New artists Collin Herring and David Kitt... as always, download, listen, enjoy, and comment... or don't. Tracklisting: Coldplay - Viva La Vida Collin Herring - Punches [...]

David Kitt is a singer/songwriter from Dublin, Ireland. More to the point, he's one of those artists you wonder why you haven't heard of before now. Seriously - why isn't this guy headlining shows around the world? Check out "Say No More" below - I love how his voice slides in and out of the song, skirting above the music like a bird skimming the surface of the ocean before diving straight into the current for the chorus. The interplay gives his songs a dynamic most bands never manage to achieve. [...]
This is taken from a 2001 radio session (Today FM) so be sure to forgive the slight hiss and lack of production sheen. I'm sure you'll look beyond this however and just marvel at David Kitt's inspired take on the Prince tune. It came at a time when Kitt could do no wrong. His self-released debut 'Small Moments' had caught the attention of Blanco y Negro (Rough Trade offshoot) who went on to
David Kitt's voice is perfect for the night-time. It's made of softness, and secrets, and corners where you can tuck yourself into your blankets, and build a round fort of warmth with only your nose peeking out to the cold. His voice glows . The song is from a couple of years back, and it's so gentle, it hurts. The boy in the red football jersey is David's kid brother, Robbie, who sings the song with him on Kitt's debut album, Small Moments. When the time came to perform it at a summer [...]

Image credit: The Liquid-Rust Ship by Stuart Lee A lullaby is like an antique airship that inflates itself with your deepest thoughts and most hidden dreams and softly floats you into dreamland. An airship that's built out of soothing melodies, hush vocals and sweetly sung lyrics that slowly drifts over a landscape of unfilled promises and brooding fears. It lures the listener into a world of unrestricted imagination and infinite freedom. Tonight, we're the sea and the salty breeze the milk from your breast is on my lips [...]

"Seven Curses" by BOB DYLAN: One of the darkest, most powerful Dylan songs I've ever discovered was included in the 3 CD box set The Bootleg Series, Vol. 1-3 , the same release from which I previously cribbed "I'll Keep it With Mine." "Seven Curses" tells the story of a man named Old Reilly who goes to jail for stealing a horse and is sentenced to hang. Reilly's daughter hears news of her father and comes bearing riches to free him, but the judge gives her only one option: you must sleep with me to free your dad. [...]
David Kitt is the son of a prominent politician. David Kitt's music was the father to a sister of thought that for 2 albums saw him become Dublin's most vital creative force. His light has dimmed considerably despite a measured improvement on last years 'Not Fade Away'. But if you were compiling a 'best of' the majority would be plucked from 'Small Moments' and 'The Big Romance'. The latter was
Top O The Morning To Ya. So the 17th March has come round again, and those fellahs/colleens in the world who claim to have some sort of Irish ancestry will be out drinking/partying/parading in acknowledgement of the man who ridded their Emerald Isle of snakes. The eagle-eyed among you will have spotted that the face of TVV up in the right hand corner is no stranger to the St Paddy's Day madness
The Choice Music Prize awards the best Irish album released the previous year, and takes place next Wednesday at Vicar St. Here are a selection of mp3s from the ten nominees and also two live tracks from last year's winner Julie Feeney whose album '13 Songs' is just amazing - buy it! 1. The Immediate - 'A Ghost In This House' 2. Si Schroeder - 'Lavendermist' (from Nialler9) 3. Snow Patrol - 'Chasing Cars' (accoustic) 4. Director - 'Reconnect' [...]
Thanks to everyone who voted this past week. In total we had 198 votes with 58 different Irish albums chosen. Sin
Wow, the week got away from me for a sec. Here is a mish-mash of foreign (in more than one sense of the word) or folky covers that have made me smile for whatever reason this week. Sorry I don't have more time (or inclination, more accurately) to write more right now. (I used the word more three times in that sentence. That's how guilty I feel for neglecting you all!) Mummy the Peepshow "Fairytale in the Supermarket" (Raincoats cover) [...]

What I like about Dublin's David Kitt's "Don't Fuck With Me" from Not Fade Away (due Oct. 30) is that it successfully merges electronic sensibilities with singer-songwriter esthetics. Where his last record was acclaimed as a romantic journey of a man in love, this new one seems like more of a journey down the dark road of betrayal and distrust. Not Fade Away was produced by Tore Johnasson who was responsible for the debut by the Cardigans as well as records by Franz Ferdinand, New Order, and Emiliana Torrini. [...]
Its funny I decided to do this right now as I had been planning on posting about David Kitt this weekend anyways as I have been listening to his song 'Headphones' at lot lately. Tonight, while digging in the archives, I came across the recommendation below from JC in CubikMusik Issue Nine. I have added 'Headphones' at the bottom of the post- its kinda like two songs in one. :-) Enjoy. ****************************** ****************************** ****************************** **************************** Artist: David Kitt Title: Square One As far as I know, despite bringing his spellbinding live show to the festivals of Europe and [...]

Chris Cornell is doing the next James Bond theme. Interesting. The Hoff should lay off the drink . He could end up like Chad Kroeger . Metallica folded on Internet downloading. British Sea Power are playing a gig. In a fort. That's almost normal for them. Watch their music videos: "Carrion" [...]
