If you were looking forward to the new Major Lazer album as much as we were, I'm sure you were disappointed to find out that it was delayed until next month. Of course that doesn't mean we go empty handed because they have just posted the first volume of LAZER STRIKES BACK , a three part series of remixes. Jack Beats throws his signature sound over the Major Lazer - Flux Pavillion bass monster "Jah No Partial". YellowClaw 's "Get Free Money Remix" was in our very first Trap Dojo . The Hardstyle influenced "Original [...]

Hot damn!! The partial lineups for Diplo and co.'s five-city encompassing Mad Decent Block Party were announced today and I'm gettin' sweaty just thinking about it. The acts will vary according to city, however, Zeds Dead, Claude VonStroke, Nadastrom, Bosco Delrey, Jacques Greene, Riton, A Tribe Called Red and BADBADNOTGOOD have been confirmed for July 28 in Toronto's Yonge-Dundas Square. Whether more performers will be added or not is unclear at the moment but regardless, the above lineup will undoubtedly have people doing cartwheels a in the streets. Diplo appearance or not, the Toronto Block Party will be the most [...]
As I'm piecing together this weeks mix I'm sitting on the patio at Epoch Coffee it is 80 degrees with a breeze, I have a triple latte and a Camel Light sitting in front of me, all things considered life is good... just one more reason I'm falling in love with Austin at an alarming rate.
Dawn Golden and Rosy Cross offers a downcast remix for Summer Camp’s oddly ebullient breakup song, "Losing My Mind," skewing the tone more appropriate to the refrain: This house isn't big enough for the both ... read more

I just came across this beautiful track by Dawn Golden and Rosy Cross . Despite what the name suggests, this is not a combination of two girls, but a moniker for 25-year-old Chicago based producer Dexter Tortiello, a left field signing to Diplo's Mad Decent label. So despite all [...]

I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead; I lift my lids and all is born again. (I think I made you up inside my head.) The stars go waltzing out in blue and red, And arbitrary blackness gallops in: [...]

Not familiar with Dawn Golden and Rosy Cross? You will be after hearing his remix of “Original Don,” the latest single from Major Lazer . The original was nothing to spit at, but given how complex the track is, it was begging to be remixed. The Mad Decent labelmate responsible for this gem is Dexter Tortoriello , a producer out of Chicago. His take on the track highlights the synth, ups the bass, and peaks with an epic guitar solo. It’s somehow darker, and yet it feels perfectly suited to the club. A digital [...]
We already heard the original cut of Major Lazer’s comeback track “Original Don” – you likely remember its insane, complex amalgamation of about ten different beats – but remixer Dexter Tortoriello, better known as Dawn Golden and Rosy Cross , has served up a remix of the track that’s just as tight and at moments even more dance-floor appropriate. mp3: Major Lazer :: Original Don (Dawn Golden and Rosy Cross Remix) [via mad decent ]
No Ceremony - Hurtlove ( Dawn Golden and Rosy Cross remix) I saw this video a couple weeks ago, and have been waiting for the download to make everything complete. Dreams were made reality today when RCRDLBL posted the mp3. The video, directed by Dexter Tortoriello himself, is a beautiful companion to this thoughtful remix. The song seems to ebb and flow perfectly, as if drifting in and out of hurt and love. Keep up with Dawn Golden and Rosy Cross : [...]

The weather lately has been a little bizarre . September reared its ugly head and Brooklyn got all sorts of chilly, then just a few days ago, it's 80° in the city. Now, my short-wearing will likely extend into November (Michigan blood), but that won't stop the leaves from turning or my appetite for pumpkin pie and football from spiraling out of control. Below is a collection of songs I threw together for the season-changing occasion, but don't expect any jubilant bangers--this October mix is a more somber affair... Citizen [...]

Mad Decent Block Party I believe it was rock legends (ha!) Loverboy who said, "Everybody's working for the weekend." Well, it looks like we've reached that miraculous part of our week where we can shrug off the fatigue and get ready to party. If you thought the summer festival season ended with Lollapalooza, you'd be wrong. We're talking about Mad Decent's Block Party in Bucktown this Saturday as well as fabulous shows by Birth (last show!), White Mystery , Pretty Good Dance Moves and Tyler Jon Tyler , [...]

Last year 's Block Party was a lot of fun and I don't see why this year would be any different. Much like 2010, our line up is alright as compared to other cities, but at least we get Lunice. I caught his set on Boiler Room a few months back and he was one of the most animated DJs I've ever seen. Absorb this information...
