Agnes Obel's New EP, iTunes Live From Paris, Out Today! Agnes Touring The U.S. in June! Dates in NYC, LA, Philadelphia, D.C., San Francisco, Seattle and Portland Appearing on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic June 3rd! "It's a rarity: a new album that…is great from beginning to end." - Chris Douridas, KCRW "Obel's music is as sparse as the snow-swept Scandinavian backcountry, and mostly scored for piano, voice and an occasional cello or harp. Yet it brims with a barely concealed passion that has helped make her quiet riot-in-the-heart album a huge European [...]

1. You started DJing at raves when you were 13 years old - How did you get connected into that scene at such a young age? What styles of music did you spin? Danny Daze - I got into that scene through friends who used to break dance with me. They were usually all age events so it took me maybe 3 parties to get used to the glow sticks and the zombies walking around. Used to spin Electro, not the "Electro" of now a days, I'm talking about record labels like Clone, Direct [...]
Trust us - if we could keep posting on Penguin Prison everyday, we would. But all good things must come to an end, so today we present you with this interview with Chris Glover, the face and brains behind the band. Watch above as Chris talks about getting discovered by Q-Tip, finding the right course for Penguin Prison, his recent tour with Girl Talk and more. A final thanks to Goldenbear for their filming and Sebastien Tobler for his editing work. STREAM: Penguin Prison - "Fair Warning (Oliver Remix)"
You want some more Penguin Prison ? You got it. Chris and Sol also sat down to play us a special rendition of "Golden Train." If you enjoyed our "Worse It Gets" video then this'll be right up your alley. Thanks again to Goldenbear for filming and Sebastien Tobler for his editing work. STREAM: Penguin Prison - "Golden Train"
Back when he visited DC with Girl Talk at the 9:30 Club, we asked Penguin Prison to stop by the Gibson Guitar Showroom to play us a couple of intimate, acoustic pieces. "The Worse It Gets" is the first of these, an otherwise jam of a track transformed into a smooth, beautiful piece with just piano and guitar. Big ups to Goldenbear 's Christopher Keener and Matthew Tanski for filming and Sebastien Tobler for editing this video. MP3: Penguin Prison - "The Worse It Gets"
![[Concert Review] – Sleigh Bells with CSS](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3429628_lg.jpg)
Tweet If you are the wallflower that stands in the corner with crossed arms and crossed legs, gently bobbing your head, then you do not belong at the Sleigh Bells concert. Or the CSS concert for that matter. Opening for Sleigh Bells at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., CSS ( Cansei de Ser Sexy ) was insane and amazing. Having listened to their music for years but never seeing them live, I was prepared for a high [...]

Yuck in DC at the Black Cat
The RiverBreaks released their album, Get You Right, with a bang at their album release party on April 7th. Their style is hard to classify into one genre, as I posted about before, they have a range from rock, pop, folk, Americana and even a little gospel, all under southern rock roots. Their album starts off strong [...]

Hope that RAC remix of "Second Chance" got you in the mood for some Peter Bjorn and John because we have two tickets to give away for their show this Saturday with openers Bachelorette at the 9:30 Club . Interested in seeing these Swedish pop-darlings for free? Then, in the vein of our Kylie Minogue giveaway , answer us this in the comments below: What's your favorite Swedish import? Musicians, actors and crappy IKEA furniture are all fair game. We'll pick our favorite tomorrow at noon [...]

Back in January McKee went all Nietschze on us and introduced us to "Second Chance," the debut single from Peter Bjorn and John 's latest album, Gimme Some . Leave it to RAC to come around months later and do a nice little number on the track. The collective's remix does away with the song's edgy surf-pop vibe, replacing it with slick, sexy keys and a driving beat. Naturally, it's a lot easier to dance to. Make sure to check out Peter Bjorn and John when they headline the 9:30 Club this Saturday [...]

I first saw Cults open for Best Coast at the Rock and Roll Hotel last October. We were all hot off the summer of Bethany Cosentino - complete with multiple retro-lite Best Coast summer jams, the best of which was definitely her collaboration with Rostam Batmanglij and Kid Cudi for Converse titled All Summer (Let's start getting that on rotation again while we're here). By the time I saw Best Coast at a beyond sold out Rock and Roll Hotel I was pretty much over Bethany Cosentino. Her obsessions with her [...]

Dayglow will be invading the nations capital once again and this time it will be headlined by Xmix 's Bad Boy Bill and supported by David Solano and our very own T3RR0R among others. If you don't know who Bad Boy Bill is then your either under 20 and/or are new to electronic dance music. Bad Boy Bill got his start by dj'ing parties throughout Chicago, just after it gave birth to " house music", and the Suburbs opening for the Hot Mix 5 dj's. He has come close to winning the DMC [...]

Fat Trel is a rapper out of DC, a regional scene that doesn't get much attention in hip-hop. Their spokesman for the past few years has been Wale, a representation somewhat dissonant from the violent realities seen day to day in Washington, DC. I by no means encourage this behavior or it's perpetuation through rap music, it has merely been interesting to see one of the more dangerous cities be represented by a largely positive figure. Respect with the Tech – Fat Trel ( April Foolz , 2011) [...]
