As major labels continue to exist behind the times, artists and labels with little capital and lesser reputations are producing some of the most innovative, interesting, and inspiring music. Whether it's creating a new niche in digital technology or looking to once obsolete formats, Agitated Atmosphere hopes to pull back the curtain on a wealth of sights and sound from luminaries such as Roy Montgomery and Bruce Russell . New Zealand has always had its share of majestic mystery; piles of Western tourists drawn to the oblong island in search of beauty captured [...]

Upon discovering this track this morning, I new all else could wait, and that I had to post this monstrosity of a song. I first caught wind of the duo from Luxembourg, Dead C∆T Bounce , with their stellar remix of Ellie Goulding's " Starry Eyed ". It seems I wasn't the only one that noticed their fresh talent, as since they have had a fast growing fan base, and released this remix as a little thank you for 2500 fans. The Skrillex influence is clear, yet not overused, as they stick to the [...]

So Dead C∆T Bounce once again comes out with another banger. These guys are really good at what they do and know how to make some grimy, dirty electro. We featured them last week with what was a killer track so if you liked that check this new one out. Their giving it away for free on their soundcloud since achieving 2,500 fans on Facebook which is pretty sick. Free stuff all the way! Enjoy. Don't nod your head too f**king hard when listening to this one. Also make sure your giving them your full respect by checking their: [...]

Dead C∆T Bounce and You Killing Me dropped a preview to their new single "Abyss" and boy let me tell you it is huge. Very heavy and shocking sounding. The piano goes hand and hand with the piece and you can tell how each artist added their own signature sounds into the song. Really well done and looking forward to the official release. Enjoy. Label Me is an education. A schoolin'. A lesson on the most interesting indie Record Labels of current and bygone days. Imagine you're sitting across from Ricky in a dark, smoky, bar booth and he's had a few too many to drink and there's no stopping him now. Words by Rick Moslen Over one hundred and fifty people died in the recent New Zealand earthquake. I know the death toll doesn't compare to the terrible [...]
Friends, Invalids, Basement-dwelling agoraphobics, lend me your ears! It's time for another Sunday Mix Tape, and have I ever got "the goods" for you. You've probably been asking yourselves why I am not posting daily MP3s anymore, or why the treasures from my collector's slum have been few and far between these past few weeks. The reason is, I've been advised to watch what I post in regards to the music I often share here. Cryptic, yes, but I am not really one to test boundaries. So until further notice there might be less music than many of you click [...]
It's Sunday night. All across the country, people are watching horrible television. I know this because I drove to Nicci's house after work only to learn that she was involved in a reality cooking show, and half of her neighbors were involved in an episode of a vampire drama. The other half of her neighbors were watching Jersey Shore . This left me with nothing to do but think about blogging. I was sidetracked for a few hours by a spur-of-the-moment poker tournament, but now that I've lost my $5 I can once again focus on sharing some music [...]

i've never quite made sense of new zealand noise rock band the dead c , although there's always been something special about their dense, lo-fi ethic that keeps me listening, even if mostly in cycles of puzzlement and struggle. yet, perhaps most of the music we're used to today has made things too easy, too digestible, and way too pleasant that we end up missing the process of actually listening for ourselves. what the dead c brings to all of this is a much needed discomfort and dissonance, a breach in the limits of musical acceptability. ![Locrian – "Rain of Ashes" CD – Basses Frequences [Album Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2286988_lg.jpg)
Locrian - "Ghost Repeater" Terence Hannum & André Foisy comprise Locrian , and Rain of Ashes comprises what, to me, is the perfect drone-disguised-as-metal document. Think: Pretty much any Nadja / Aidan Baker collab release that leans toward the noise/drone end; Tim Hecker , Dead Texan [...]

i've really been digging up old stuff recently, and one of my favorite re-discoveries is the now defunct new zealand band dadamah . the band only played three gigs in their brief existence from '91 to '94, and released two 73 singles and one ep. all these songs were quickly picked up then by the newly birthed kranky label (now firmly recognized as one of the best experimental labels) as their second ever release, which also turns out to be the last and only standing document of the band's work. for a band this underrated, the music [...]
the first thing you'll notice is all the unthinking cunts; the throwaway sluts; the casual bitches. it's so perfunctory in it's masculinity. the infinitely limited expression of male/female connections. it's jon's flashbulb spraying light over uneager flesh. it's rob, bored, slotting in the d.v. it's steve with the boom, hovering on the periphery like a [...]
Sounding starkly different from their label mates on New Zealand's Flying Nun label was an auspicious beginning for the trio that makes up the Dead C . Eventually forging a relationship with Philadelphia's Siltbreeze , the Dead C were able to spread their name (and their noise) with distribution far afield from their native island. But that was almost twenty years ago and the Dead C catalog, engorged with noise, has been added to pretty consistently over that time. The group's most recent album for Ba Da Bing! isn't an [...]

One of the best compliments you can receive as a musician is the notion of irritating music writers. The Dead C has always been one of the most difficult groups to describe. Like many psych rippers and no wavers, much of the Dead C's repertoire specializes in noise and structure breakdown. But simply labeling it as noise is shortsighted, as the Dead C operates as more of an improv group. There's always been "structure," more or less, and if you listen closely, the Dead C often comes across as a damaged Spacemen 3, Space Needle, or other fuzz-heavy, [...]

If you've ever done a semester abroad, you know Halloween isn't quite the phenomenon everywhere as in the good ol' financially fucked US of A. But props to the spastic Swedes of Love Is All for taking our annual excuse for sluttiness to heart, applying ghoulish facepaint and walking in reverse on their home streets to the sounds of "Rumors," from their quite good forthcoming LP A Hundred Things Keep Me Up At Night . It's not The Official Video -- there will be a costumed clip for most every album track floating about the net today -- [...]
