Following various DIY releases dating back to 2009, Mississippi's Dead Gaze - aka Cole Furlow - finally released his full length self-titled LP earlier this year on Fat Cat Records. Now, we'ree revelling in a new, previously unreleased track - 'Fight Til It’s Dead' - which captures all of Dead Gaze's indie-pop tendencies; the bright guitars, the melodic and ghostly vocals and the classic pop structures. Despite already dropping here in the UK, the Dead Gaze LP is available in the US from May 21st. [...]

Words by Mark Robinson Now this is an interesting one. Dead Gaze by Dead Gaze (the moniker for Mississippi’s R. Cole Furlow ) is a furious slice of noise-pop. The ‘noise’ this time round isn’t through the traditional means of many, many guitars being strangled though, instead it’s down to the production - in particular the bitcrusher plug-in being amped up to twelve. The end result is both a positive and detriment. The album has a very unique sound; it’s too harsh to be dream pop, [...]

Enjoy. 01 Unwed Teenage Mothers - Forever Until You Are Bones 02 Hypocrite in A Hippy Crypt - Freak Me Out 03 Ooga Boogas - It's A Sign 04 The [...]

With the same fuzzed-out guitars, intense percussion, and wall-of-sound mentality that elevated bands like Tame Impala , Dead Gaze has hit the mark with his newest release, Group Tightener . While the record may only consist of 5 tracks, there's a overall grittiness and brashness to the music that seems to fill the room and lengthen the experience. Thematically, R. Cole Furlow claims that each of these songs will "make you feel good about feeling bad." While I don't necessarily agree, their powerful, full sound certainly makes you feel something unique. [...]

"I Found The Ending" is Dead Gaze 's first single from their upcoming self-titled LP that contains previously released material and some rarities. This track has never seen the light until now and hones in on the Dead Gaze golden's skill of creating lip-smacking pop from the deep South. This is proper preparation for an LP with all-new material that will certainly be released this year.

There's something about the Dude Ranch of the Cats Purring collective of Mississippi that's turned it into a lofi pop hit factory. Dent May , Bass Drum of Death and Ills are all notable previous successes, and now it seems the time for Dead Gaze to come forward. Dead Gaze is the moniker of R Cole Furlow and 'I Found The Ending' is from his upcoming eponymous retrospective for Palmist, FatCat's vinyl only sister label. It's a pop gem that sounds like the ultimate crate digging find [...]

I didn't really know much about Dead Gaze when I got the press release, but then again, I guess I did. Cole Furlow, the man behind the moniker, has been rubbing elbows with the likes of Dent May and Bass Drum of Death , not to mention releasing tons of hard to find 73 and other various rarities. Luckily for us, Palmist is going to release a compilation of all that material on May 21st as a self-titled compilation. I have a feeling that you're all going to enjoy [...]

Some facts; Dead Gaze will release a self-titled collection of tracks from tapes,7”s and 10”s, which are now mostly out of print. It will be released on FatCat sister label Palmist as a vinyl LP and digital download in the UK on 25 th March. Dead Gaze is Cole Furlow. His work forms part of the Cats Purring Collective ; a north Mississippi collective that also boasts the talents of Dent May , Bass Drum of Death and Illls. Some other things which may or may not be facts; I [...]

As far as Dead Gaze goes, I'm biased. Ever since hearing 'Fishing With Robert' a few years back I've tried to piece together the Dead Gaze catalogue, and failed. There was an album (of sorts), a few EPs, a single or two, but no definitive collection to dive into. Thankfully FatCat Records have stepped in, on March 25 the 'Dead Gaze' LP will be released ( pre-order / USA insound ) featuring the best bits released on Group Tightener, Fire Talk and Clan Destine plus newbies including the fresh single ' I Found The Ending ' ( free download via FB [...]
