MP3: BLOW! - Attention MP3: Dead Leaf Echo - Half-Truth Woodlands Tavern probably isn't the first place you'd expect to see a festival spawned by Columbus shoegaze band Love Culture, but the band's drummer, Robert Fischer, got the idea after noticing the venue's two-stage setup. He started talking about the idea with friends and bandmates, who all pitched in. Says Fischer: "As much as I love all of our local festivals, the lineups are almost exclusively Columbus bands. While this festival is still heavy on the locals (10 [...]

NYC trio Dead Leaf Echo has released a new remix EP. Verisimilitude explores the back alleys of left-field dreamy post-rock. They went back to the tracks of their Truth EP and invited a couple of reputable remixers to work their magic. The result is a varied collection of revamped tracks sharing a late-night club vibe. Most remix albums are throwaways and serve as a stop-gap releases. Verisimilitude has legs and can walk upon its own feet. Dead Leaf Echo : LG: vocals: guitars, [...]

"Verisimilitude" is what Brooklyn's Dead Leaf Echo calls their soon to be released EP of high profile remixes. Allowing other noteworthy musicians to re-imagine some of their more well know tracks, the results are creative and dynamic. The Elika mix of "Half Truth" emphasizes a sparse industrial percussion track with rising and falling background vocals, and features an added phrase at the end – "it's calling out to me – so silent you can see – you tore apart, tore apart – you went through my heart". "Woogathering" Mark Van Hoen remix opens sans [...]

It's time to listen to a bunch of the tracks I have not posted recently. Here is the next NOT POSTED mix. These are just a few of the songs that would get there own individual posts on here on GIMME TINNITUS, if I only had the time. You can stream all the songs in this mix using the Yahoo media player at the bottom of the page OR if you are browsing with Chrome you can play (and scrobble ) the whole page using the ex.fm extension OR you can [...]
Tweet It's tough to find quality dream-pop or shoegaze these days. Too many lackluster attempts to copy the subtle nuances of a Ride, the catastrophic brilliance of a Jesus & Mary Chain or the aural assault that is My Bloody Valentine. Lo and behold, one band who has stepped up to the plate and has impressed to date is one Dead Leaf Echo. The trick with dream-pop is to allow the listener to feel as if they are in somewhat of a somnambulistic state as they fade...into the music. Dead Leaf Echo's [...]
Blistering shoegazey indie rock trio Dead Leaf Echo are heading down to Austin, Texas to play this year's SXSW music festival next Friday afternoon at Guero's patio/lawn presentation alongside Living Days, Speak and more. They're also all wrapped up with a new EP called Verisimilitude scheduled to be out May 31 on Custom Made Music [...]
Given the volume of music available for consideration on One Track Mind, we invariably have to pass on a lot of tasty morsels. [tweetmeme] In a desire to share even more great, free music with you, the Sunday Sampler offers a handful of tracks without the usual critical and biographical write-up. Less talk, more tunes. Really like what I'm hearing from New York City's Dead Leaf Echo . While you could toss them in the newgaze camp, I would argue that Dead Leaf Echo is only tangentially reminiscent of the scene that celebrates itself (which is what was immediately appealing to me in the first place). The vocals (coming from a gentleman simply known as LG, like my phone) have an odd, clear croon, brought up high in the mix rather than washed out (as is apropos to most shoegaze), bolstered more by moody and light synth flourishes and melted, chorus-heavy guitar rather than pure "wall of sound" [...]

Trying to continue to blog while out here in Seattle enjoying the rain and the sights. This was the very first press release I got in 2010, so I decided that they deserve a post out of sheer work ethic. Dead Leaf Echo is out of my new adopted city, Brooklyn, and they have a new album coming out called Truths this year. They just recently released a 7 inch through Custom Made Music with the song Half Truth on the A side that is a teaser [...]
