Dead Letter Chorus - Wiggle Bay I went along to the Rewiggled party with a healthy dose of skepticism tucked firmly into my pocket. I mean, it's a Wiggles cover album - those songs were cool when I was in diapers, but there's no way they can transcend genre boundaries (as well as a couple of decades) - and the live performance wasn't going to be any better. Boo to me, it turns out. Dead Letter Chorus pulled out one hell of a cover, and delivered their own track Run Wild with their usual style - [...]
Click here to view the embedded video. Earlier in the year, in the depths of winter, Dead Letter Chorus dropped one mighty-fine, super-summery clip on our doorsteps, accompanied by one darling of a film clip . Now, as we're launching back into the warmer months, we've got a wistful-wintery tale, accompanied by a suitably darker clip. The track is All Mine and it's the perfect follow up to Yellow House, as well as a rolling, harmonious, heart-wrenching ballad that deserves more adjectives than I could ever think of. Both tracks are [...]

It's not far away now peoples. Sydney's Dead Letter Chorus have album number two due for release this month. August 26 to be exact. "Yearlings" was recorded over 8 months beginning in May 2010 with Canadian producer Les Cooper. You have probably already heard the singles released over the preceding months in "Covered By Snow", "Run Wild" (the one on the Toyota ads) and "Yellow House". All bouncing with melody and passion. Soon now you will have the album. I have been listening to the album recently and it's pretty great. I particularly love the the two closing [...]

It's winter and it's bloody cold, a bastard with a biting chill thats left me and everyone I know curled up inside, fighting off the cold. Dead Letter Chorus are back with Yellow House , bringing warmth and youthful romanticism back to this bitter winter. The video is super honest in it's delivery - singers Gabby Huber and Cameron Potts are almost painfully cute as they ride across pastel golden fields with the sun on their backs. This is a song of sweet love & warm living rooms, and a clip to match. [...]

ok. So if you're here in Australia and you spend at least some time listening to triple j, then you most likely would have heard the name Dead Letter Chorus. But, if you're anything like me, you probably wouldn't hear a song and think, hey, that's Dead Letter Chorus. That and the fact that there's [...]

Sydney's purveyors of fine music, Dead Letter Chorus , have a brand new single out now in the shape of "Yellow House". It's a sublime slice of harmony and melody. Following on from the great "Run, Wild" this song will be included on the band's second album, "Yearlings", due out in June. Stay tuned for more details. For now, enjoy! This is my desk. The owls were a Christmas present. And if those other presents are still sitting on the desk that means I forgot to put them back under the tree and both my brothers-in-law are now short a gift. Oops. The big day has arrived! And if you're reading this on Christmas Day I'm assuming you've just stolen away from the family with some excuse like 'I'm just popping off to get that eggnog for Aunty Mildred' (seriously, does anybody actually drink that stuff? The name doesn't exactly say DRINK ME, DRINK ME, DRINK [...]

Dead Letter Chorus and Two Hours Traffic sharing the stage A couple of weeks ago we had a long weekend down here in Oz, to help the Queen celebrate her birthday. Of course dear Lizzie's birthday is not actually in June - that would make too much sense. Though I was tempted to break out the streamers and take a whack at a Camilla-shaped piñata (who said that?) I decided to celebrate at the good ol' Northcote Social Club instead. Headlining were Dead Letter Chorus , who'd just returned from a [...]

Sydney's Dead Letter Chorus recently returned from a triumphant Canadian tour and promptly announced a truckload of dates here in Oz, all set to kick off next month. I've already nabbed my $12 (!!) tickets for their only Melbourne gig - a show that will also feature Canada's Two Hours Traffic . 9 Jun 2010 8:00 The Victoria Hotel Wagga Wagga, New South , AU 10 Jun 2010 8:00 The Sandbar Mildura, [...]
After Tuesday night's Jonsi gig , Amanda and I trekked through the set of Fringe to check out Sydney's Dead Letter Chorus . It was so great to see a pretty small Australian act playing a full room here in Vancouver (on a school night, no less). I had a quick chat with Cam and Gabby before the show and they seemed to have really enjoyed their time in Canada. Unfortunately we had to leave before the set finished but not before I was impressed with how far they've come as a band. It [...]

Dead Letter Chorus: photo by Michael Ligon One of the highlights for me at this year's Canadian Musicfest was a charming folk, alt-country outfit from Australia called Dead Letter Chorus . Making their Toronto debut at intimate Toronto venue, The Painted Lady , it was a brief set but one that managed to adequately convey their strengths including strong melodies, attractive male and female vocals, and a tight-knit musicianship. Their Painted Lady set was one of two showcases(the other being at the Rivoli a few days later) which the band [...]
One of things I'm looking forward to now that I've relocated back to B.C. is seeing some of the Australian bands I got to know back in Sydney play here in Vancouver. I'm not sure how often it's going to happen but my first opportunity is coming up quickly as Sydney's Dead Letter Chorus are currently in Canada showcasing their new (to North American shores) record, The August Magnificent . The band played shows around the East Coast Music Awards and Canadian Music Week and are currently playing shows in Ontario and Quebec [...]

Dead Letter Chorus: photo by Michael Ligon It didn't seem my first night of Canadian Musicfest last week would start on a good note given I'd shown up to the Lee's Palace for The Bonfire Ball featuring Jason Collett, Zeus, and Bahamas later than intended(getting in line around quarter after 9) and saw a lineup bigger than expected. I took a chance and decided to wait but after an hour I gave up and bailed as it realistically did not seem like I'd get in. As it was a Wednesday night and [...]

featuring Fergus Brown, The Wilderness of Manitoba and Dead Letter Chorus Although this year's Canadian Music Fest seemed somewhat more disorganized than usual, I was actually able to keep my personal schedule pretty much in tact, sticking relatively close to my original plans, with the exception of a couple of minor snafus on the Friday night. Even my mood was organized as I opted to go for the festival acoustic ease-in, and lead up to a rock 'n roll finale for Saturday night. (As anticipated, I was a little bit too brain-dead by the [...]
