DEAD MAN'S BONES - "NAME IN STONE" from biz3 publicity on Vimeo . Here's a video of Dead Man's Bones performing the song "Name In Stone" in a cemetary with the L.A. Inner Mass Choir and The Silverlake Conservatory of Music Children's Choir. Very cool visuals, especially when the choir starts to dance. PigeonsandPlanes
What's the conscensus on Ryan Gosling's Dead Man's Bones project? Is he a Zooey or a Scarlett? I kinda bromance this dude, so I'm not sure I can be impartial. The project is a collaboration between Gosling and Zach Shields. The duo plan to release their debut album, Never Let a Lack of Talent Get You Down , on their own label, Werewolf Heart , this summer. Here is their video for Name In [...]

Dead Man's Bones —the funeral-choir outfit that will forever be known as " Ryan Gosling 's musical project"—has a new video out, in which Gosling and his collaborator Zach Shields lead a chorus through a graveyard, singing the wearily jubilant "Name In Stone" (which has an odd similarity to Lily Allen's "The Fear" running underneath it, to these ears) all the way. I wonder if this is one of the clips that the band shot in lieu of going to South By Southwest last month? Clip after the jump. [...]

[Happy birthday to John Frusciante, long may you shred ...] Most L.A. music fans have seen Jessica Dobson — she's the guitarist in Beck's live band — but not many know her as Deep Sea Diver . Signed to Atlantic Records at age 20, Dobson is quite a performer in her own right. ( OC Weekly had a nice story on her in December.) Prior to gigs opening for the western leg of Conor Oberst's tour, Deep Sea Diver is celebrating the release of [...]
Actor Ryan Gosling has decided to expand his repertoire in a somewhat unusual way. It's turns out that when he's not being awesome in movies like Half Nelson and Lars & The Real Girl, Mr Gosling dabbles in the world of music. After bonding with friend Zach Shields over music and 'creepy things', the pair decided to explore both avenues by forming a band. The project, named Dead Man's Bones was completed with the addition of an unusual third band member: the Silverlake Conservatory Children's Choir. The band have released [...]

Ryan Gosling talks to Pitchfork about his kids-gone-goth project Dead Man's Bones , whose album is coming out this summer: "You know when you're a kid and you get crayons and papers and just draw whatever you want and it's just a bunch of messy lines, but to you it makes sense, and then they put it on the fridge? From that point on, you're always trying to get back on the fridge, you start drawing things that look like something, like, the more it looks like a horse, the more chance you have of getting it on the [...]
Roughly a week ago, I watched the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall for the first time. And in it, Jason Segel's character writes an absolutely ridiculous vampire rock opera (to be performed by puppets, no less). To my surprise, however, the songs somehow work within the context of the movie. Furthermore, they reminded me of the haunting echo of Dead Man's Bones "In The Room Where You Sleep"—so, I sought out the band's MySpace to learn a little more about them. What I ended up learning, despite a vast majority of pop culture blogs having already discussed [...]
Dead Man's Bones (Los Angeles, CA) I'm all for actor's who become musicians. I don't see anything wrong with exercising your creative juices especially if you are good at your instrument. It's the same way I think there's nothing wrong with music bloggers playing in bands - Scott from Surfing On Steam is the very talented guitarist in The Meeting Places and yours truly plays bass in The

[Image: Hobo Gestapo ] Dance Area is comprised of the two Netherlanders, Dirk Boogie and Mollono Von Bass. Legend has it that Boogie met Austin Boston in The End nightclub in London, where Austin works. It was here that Boogie recorded Boston on his iPhone and used this sample to create what is now the soon-to-be legendary "AA 24/7". Check out the Skull Juice Remix here . I heard Diplo has just remixed this song too. Dance Area "AA 24/7" @ Beatport [...]
Saw this great video the other day for Dead Man's Bones which is Ryan Gosling the actor! The guy's got talent! I loved his movie Lars and the Real Doll and now it seems he can play/sing as well! The song/video is pretty dark & eerie which I love! Definitely gives me a goth feel. Love the organ he uses and the kids choir with all of them dressed in their Halloween costume is a genious idea! Here it is plus the mp3... MP3: [...]
Having seen Lars and the Real Girl at my favorite vegetarian indie movie theatre last year I developed a healthy respect for Ryan Gosling as an actor. We all know by now that Canada produces some fine musical talent, including our favorites A Trak and Feist , and it seems you can now count Ryan amongst this bunch. Thanks to the guys over at Bigstereo I stumbled across the video for Dead Man's Bones which features Ryan on keys and Zach Shields on drums. It is a [...]
Hollywood's rich and famous are always searching for new ways to re-invent themselves in the public eye, but finally someone willing to do the deed, while still remaining "classy" and "cool", has come along. That's right, Hollywood's "IT" boy Ryan Gosling (of The Notebook and Lars and the the Real Girl ) is trying out music for awhile and oddly enough the kid's not half bad at it! Now, imagine if Tom Waits and The Magnetic Fields made a baby with Peter Bretter from Forgetting Sarah Marshall and there you have it: [...]

Dead Man's Bones is a Los Angeles-based piano/goth/ramshackle children's choir outfit that somehow involves Lars And The Real Girl star Ryan Gosling, and the one track the band has released so far is quite good! "In The Room Where You Sleep" is a spooky, dreary piano stomp with the atonal, seemingly aggravated mess of kids serving up some extra creepiness. [ MySpace ; HT Marah E.]
Dead Man's Bones - "In the Room Where You Sleep" (live) Yeah, Ryan Gosling. It took me like five whole minutes to figure out Ryan Gosling = Dead Man's Bones . Who knew an actor could make music that makes ya feel so alive. And I guess children choirs seem creepier when not accompanying dance music (and dressed in Halloween costumes). Dead Man's Bones - "In the Room Where You Sleep" (live)
Thanks to celeb gossip resources we had been hearing grumblings of Ryan Gosling's musical endeavors. Now, his project Dead Man's Bones have released a live video for their song called In the Room Where You Sleep featuring the Silverlake Conservatory of Music Children's choir . The song is actually very interesting and the children's choir adds an amazing element. Check it out: MP3: Dead Man's Bones - In the Room Where You Sleep (Live Feat. So apparently actor Ryan Gosling — best known for his work on The Notebook and Mickey Mouse Club , but who also has given great performances in The Believer and Half Nelson — is in a band. It's called Dead Man's Bones , and the band describes itself as Gothic/Gospel/Showtunes on MySpace. On Christmas, the band released a live video for In The Room Where You Sleep , and it surprisingly sounds kind of like Arcade Fire and The Doors trying [...]

Ryan Gosling's band, Dead Man's Bones debuted their first video for "In The Room Where You Sleep" via Myspace . Ryan's voice is mesmerizing in a Jim Morrison kind of way and the song is very goth sounding. I love how it wants to mix The Doors with Johnny Cash in a smooth and mellow delivery. Ryan's also on the piano, while his friend Zach Shields is on [...]
