With everyone going to or coming from CMJ in New York, the IA region has a ton of shows coming through the area. Not many multiple city stops to tell you about, but plenty of local and one-off shows. Toronto's Born Ruffians is one of the bands making multiple stops. They are on tour with fellow Canadians Plants & Animals . Friday, they take on DC at the Rock & Roll Hotel. For the remainder of the weekend, sBach joins the [...]
The Dead Milkmen 's 1988 album Beelzebubba was an album that a friend lent me when I was at college. I think it's fair to say that Bod, for that was his nickname, saved me from a lifetime of listening to very dour and serious post-hardcore art-rock. And he did this solely by introducing me to something called COLLEGE ROCK. The Dead Milkmen - Punk Rock Girl (click on the image above to dress your very own Punk Rock Girl !) I mentioned Camper Van Beethoven in a previous [...]
Ahh Labor Day! The "Man's" way of saying "thanks for selling your soul to us. Have a day off." Unless you work for Walmart of course. Enjoy! MP3: Dead Milkmen - Labor Day Paint It Black - Labor Day Hudson Falcons - Working Class War Buy: Interpunk

Woohoo! Youtube Link ( via Brooklyn Vegan ) Hmmm...not enough incentive? Well, check out the FFF Fest's INSANELY AWESOME LINE-UP . [...]

Well It's been one of those days, just a day when everyone totally erks the heck out of you, I would go into a long diatribe (but my last 2 posts were huge, and sometimes you like a quicky) about the idiot that rode my bumper today in his shiny mid-ninteys cool man black (I swear that's a real color) camaro, but I thought naw... I'll just dedicate this song to him. So to all the ass wipes that tailgate in camaros this song for you! Bitchen Camaro - Dead Milkmen [...]
Hey Jack... what's happenin'...

"She's got eyes of deepest blue He's got hair that's green Everybody's got nice stuff but me I wish I had the kind of cash To make heads turn when I walk past I wish I could live in luxury Everybody's got nice stuff but me..." -The Dead Milkmen - "Everybody's Got Nice Stuff But Me" As our bus pulled away from Oxford on a cold late-March morning, Dr. O'C uttered the phrase that I knew would define the next month or so of our lives: "We're homeless [...]
Video: Dead Milkmen - "Punk Rock Girl" Saw this on VH1 Classic this weekend, and even though the Dead Milkmen were one of my favorite bands in high school, I don't think I'd ever seen this video before. It's better...

(photo from www.mitchclem.com/nothingnice) “If you love someone, set them on fire”. I’m pretty sure the name of this song pretty much sums up the band. MP3: The Dead Milkmen – Punk Rock Girl The Dead Milkmen – If You Love Somebody, Set Them On Fire [...]
Boring bisexuals, get ready to dance: DEAD MILKMEN REUNION!!!! ( via ) In... Austin? No other mentions on the band's site or myspace page , Joe Jack Talcum's site or myspace page , or Rodney's blog . But hopefully more dates to come? At least something in Philly? God, I hope Crystal Shit gets back together too. They'd totally fucking blow away Crystal Antlercastlestiltwolfhands. At last. Something to believe in! The Dead Milkmen - [...]
This weekend, I booked a trip to New York for the week of October 19-25. It’s the CMJ Music Marathon, and I’m trying to make up for the aborted trip last year. I managed to use a flight credit I had, and even found a place to stay that pretty ...

Doesn't everyone have one of these? Well, I wanted to do one too, so there. This one is more loosely put together than usual but still meant to be listened to in order; and hopefully the last song doesn't insult anyone. The 90s were a time of ... uh ... looser speech? Or is it loserspeak? I forget which. At any rate, enjoy "The Warmer the Waves," either in little pieces or a rar file containing all the songs. 01 dj john - rockin down [...]
Bands reuniting for festival performances is the thing to do these days it seems. Last year's Fun Fun Fun Fest showcased the reuniting of The Murder City Devils, which was terribly awesome, and it has just been reported that Dead Milkmen will reunite for Fun Fun Fun Fest '08. The reunited band will feature all original members, aside from bassist Dave Shultise who took his own life in 2004. Can't say that I'm as excited about Dead Milkmen as I was about The Murder City Devils, but I am excited about seeing the lineup for this year's Fun [...]

I'm going to get a reputaion as a weirdo, here in the Machine, if I keep poting up oddball stuff like this, but (for this state, at least) I haven't got much choice. They're the only Wisconsin tunes I've got! The Dead Milkmen: I'm Living In Wisconsin [ purchase other Milkmen releases] First up is a fairly sweet song from The Dead Milkmen off the 1983 self-released cassette A Date With The Dead Milkmen . Not too easy to get [...]

In counterbalance to my last post; today I sat on a panel of industry leaders (I was the joker in the deck) at a conference and spoke of my business. Here's some advice: It's probably not a good idea to use the term "corporate overlord" when speaking to a group of, well, corporate overlords. All of my observations last week about being Mr. Executive Douchebag were blown out today I was exposed as a little twerp. I am pretty sure that the guy sitting next to me [...]
Today is Valentines Day and I am dedicating this post to my wonderful girlfriend Alex. Think of this as a playlist to play while eating dinner that you cooked for your loved one. Or while preparing it. Or while getting ready to go out. Perhaps you might want to make a mix cd for the car. I've sort of started with songs that I associate with my girlfriend and it moves into songs that more deal with the topic of love more than the singer professing love for [...]
i didn't want the best of list to fall on a tuesday as this is a lot of tuneage for one day. oh well. shit happens. lee hazlewood - friday's child lucero - the weight of guilt william elliott whitmore - the buzzard's won't cry [...]
