![[Best of 2011] Dave’s 111 Favorite Songs of 2011](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3994629_lg.jpg)
Tweet vaso link This is far more delayed than I might have hoped, but I enjoy making this list of my favorite songs annually, so I can return to it and see where my thoughts were within the moment. Ultimately, this list serves mainly as a compelling iPod playlist. I concluded my first list in 2009 with 111 songs, and for posterity's sake, have continued along with that tradition. The actual rankings are generally quite fluid, as I could say [...]
It seems like every other week I’m posting about another lo-fi surf pop act looking to make their mark in an already bloated sub-genre. Music Player: Dead Models - Rosy.mp3 [...]
Brand new London band, Dead Models , wants to take you on a whirlwind trip a few decades back. Their lead single, “Hold On”, is a slice of beautifully orchestrated stringed indie pop. Back with some charming vintage footage, grab a blanket and some hot tea, and bob your head away. Their highly recommended debut album, It’s Not Love , is now available through their Bandcamp and you can sample below. Some very, very, good 50’s influence on all of the track, and it sounds completely natural. I would try to recommend a couple tracks, but I really [...]

Just because a band is from Essex doesn't mean you should brush them aside the way you did/should have with their cheesy reality soap counterparts which will remain un-named. continue reading >>

Dead Models are an Essex foursome releasing their debut album It’s Not Love this summer through London-based SoundsXPerience. And by letting us dip our toes into the sweetly sumptuous first single Rosy , it’s clear these Brits are concocting some of the dreamiest, sunshine pop since actual west coast-based bands Best Coast and Girls dove into the vintage heyday of 50’s girl-group and 60’s retro surf-pop waters in the last few years. Not since first hearing The Association’s Windy or the Beach Boys Wouldn’t It Be Nice [...]
We talked about the London band Dead Models twice last year; first when they released their lead single, and again when their debut EP came out. Now the band is preparing to release their first album, and they sent along a track from it along with a teaser video. And while the video isn't much...

The jangly guitar's of Dead Models catchy little number "Step Aside" are bringing all sorts of joy to my Saturday afternoon. They sound fresh and exciting, with a little bit of retro thrown in there. Sweet riffs and sunny harmonies. "Step Aside" is taken from their s/t debut EP that came out this August. Good vibes all around: [mp3]: Dead Models - Step Aside Bookmark on Delicious Digg this post [...]

There's a good man who runs a blog over at everybodytaste.com . His name is Matt Carr. I can recall several times the guy has turned me onto something really worthwhile, so I thought I'd try to bring some of that magic in the following guest post. Here, Matt recommends six tacks from six bands I should have turned you on to already. Give a listen and go say "hi" to that dude at his blog. 1. Murder Mystery- I Am [...]
Surf s Up. London s Calling. Dead Models are to London what Best Coast is to L.A... a great new band putting out shimmery summer music that recalls the 60 s surf vibe with a big touch of garage-y doo wop. The band just released their debut EP and th ...
Dead Models sound like summer days spent on the swings or bike rides over to your girlfriend's house, a fuzzy existence in homely, PG-13-rated monochrome. Even the Dire Straits-esque guitars in the middle of their songs. Their EP is available for free via American label White Noise Records . [There is a video that cannot be displayed in this feed. Visit the blog entry to see the video.] Dead Models - Rosy ( mp3 )
If you're a regular reader, you might remember us talking previously about British band Dead Models, who make a shiny pop rock replete with a That Thing You Do! vibe. (Their drummer might even wear sunglasses to be mysterious. I haven't seen pictures of the band to know.) The band has recently released their debut, [...]
Dead Models are drenched in that 60's pop rock sound that's been showing up a lot recently. And these guys don't try to hide it in the slightest. They've got a 4-track EP out August 3rd, and you can listen to the entire thing for free before its release date at their bandcamp [...]

In April , I posted about the summery, 1960s-tinged garage pop songs released by London's Dead Models . If Best Coast recalls West coast greats like the Beach Boys, then the Dead Models recall the immediately catchy melodies of English groups like the Dave Clark Five with a dirty early Rolling Stones bite. The band is now set to release their self-titled debut EP on August 2nd via White Noise , which you can download digitally for free at their Bandcamp . Dead Models - "Tonight" (from [...]
Download: Dead Models "Dead Models" E.P. out now on White Noise Dead Models is the outcome of a songwriting session that took place between Paul Orwell and Nathan Clarke in a smokey little flat in East London. The pair, of previous bands “Junior Victor” and “The Void”, respectively, were drawn together just at the right [...]
