Lou Reed in 13 Most Beautiful Hazel and I arrived in Dunfermline for last night's 13 Most Beautiful in plenty of time. We headed up to The Carnegie Hall and milled around for a few minutes hoping to bump into Dean & Britta - because I can do "bumping into" I'm just no good at "hunting down". Having failed to bump we headed for a stroll around the town taking in the sights - the Abbey, Carnegie's birthplace - before heading back up to the hall. This time we did manage [...]
Heres' some video of Dean & Britta performing "I'm Not a Young Man Anymore" at their recent show in Ann Arbor ... You can see the rest of the song here .
I wrote a poem on a dog biscuit... but your dog refused to look at it. Have a nice day if it means something to you - have a bed in... but don't forget to invite somebody. I'll post the content winners this evening - so if you want to enter you still can - and there's a pretty good chance that you'd win something!! Galaxie 500 - original & best: Luna: Mp3: Dean & Britta - Fourth of July Mp3: [...]
It seems that Flickr user RexSteed spent Saturday evening snapping away during Dean & Britta's performance of 13 Most Beautiful at the Ford Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. Which means that we can sit through a slideshow of most of the 13 (I make it 11) as well as pictures of one of the 13, Mary Woronow, being interviewed on stage before the show .
Here's the video of Dean & Britta's appearance on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic last Thursday... Tracklist... I Found it Not So I'll Keep it With Mine Silver Factory Knives from Bavaria Eyes in My Smoke Snowstorm I'm Not a Young Man Anymore

Here's a very cool video of Dean & Britta performing Galaxie 500's Tugboat at The Black Cat in Washington DC last week. To see it in glorious high definition head on over to the YouTube page and flip the HD switch on the player. kubacheck also has videos of Ceremony and Tiger Lily from the same show (also in HD) - go check them out too.

Dean & Britta originally uploaded by slowmotiontrax slowmotiontrax has put up loads of pictures from Dean & Britta's performance at Johnny Brenda's in Philadelphia including some of the couple performing with support act (and Double Feature recording artist) Cheval Sombre .
Nice, funny interview with Dean & Britta at The New Gay , touching on gays in the army, who they'd "go gay" for and the dawnings of heterosexuality... The New Gay: When did you first realize you were straight? Dean Wareham: I remember looking at dirty magazines, probably around age 10, and being aroused by photos of naked ladies. I did make out with a girl named Wendy Little at age 8 but it wasn't particularly sexual. Britta Phillips: When I was 7. I had [...]

Michael Lavine I had thought that their Condo Fucks excursion earlier this year would represent Yo La Tengo's recorded output for 2009 - after all, crafting a recording of such depth and intricacy has to be exhausting for a band, mentally, emotionally and physically. But as it turns out, that was just a warm-up and Hoboken's finest will release a proper new collection of tunes this Fall in the form of Popular Songs . From the write-up in the official bio , it sounds like the band are continuing [...]
Here's a great video of Dean & Britta playing Tugboat at last night's Galaxie 500 heavy show in Philadelphia. Check IvyMike777 's other videos for a couple more from last night.
Dean's seems to have moved his blog from deanandbritta.com to the couple's iLike page (although I suspect crossposting back to the official site and MySpace). In the latest post he blogs about food, upcoming shows and Zabriskie Point ... Thursday we'll be eating cheesesteak sandwiches in Philadelphia; before our show at Johnny Brenda's, Friday it will be chili dogs before our gig at the Black Cat in D.C., and Saturday night we will eat and perform at Le Poisson Rouge on Bleecker Street in Manhattan. This last is an [...]
There's a nice in-depth Q&A with Dean Wareham at the Philly Fringe website promoting Dean & Britta's 13 Most Beautiful appearances at the festival in September (and their regular show at Johnny Brenda's on Thursday ). The interview deals mostly with 13 Most Beautiful covering, amongst other topics, how they selected screen tests... The more I read about the Factory I decided I wanted to focus on the people who lived there or were there every day or people who were important in the life of the Factory from '64-'66, rather than just [...]

Dean's latest blog over at deanandbritta.com plugs upcoming shows, book readings and a KCRW live performance. He also talks about Galaxie 500 songs, drummers and shows off a portrait of himself that a young Luna fan('s father) sent in. We are planning on playing a bunch of Galaxie 500 songs; we did this at the Zipper Factory last year and it was fun and I managed to hit all the high notes. The Galaxie 500 video "Fourth of July" ran on New York Noise last week, followed by amusing comments from some young children. Warning: [...]

Artist: Dean Wareham From: New York, NY Sound: Swirling, dreamy, cathartic pop, shoegaze 101 Similar Artists: The Feelies, Spacemen 3, Mazzy Star, Yo La Tengo, Read Now: "The next day we drove to Amherst College and played to a small but appreciative crowd, except for the two guys standing in front of me the whole time performing magic tricks for each other. Students are weird. Why don't they stay in their dorm rooms if they want to do magic tricks? Or do a magic show and [...]

Autumn de Wilde It's appropriate that I'm putting this up whilst in the Big Apple because more than any other band, Luna represents what I think of when I try to frame New York in musical terms - weird and wonderful and lightly hallucinogenic. And full of awesome guitar solos. One of Dean Wareham's first post-Luna projects was the writing of his memoirs, Black Postcards , which was released in hardcover form last year and in softcover last week. I reviewed it last [...]
