This is the debut project from Sunni Colon, Dearly Beloved . It's a nice mix of Hip Hop and soul, somewhat in the vein of Frank Ocean but with more rapping. The project was co-signed by 2DBZ , where Shake named download of the day yesterday. I decided to give it try and wasn't disappointed. Check it it out for yourself right here .
Hard rocking Toronto band Dearly Beloved release their new studio album, Hawk vs Pigeon , on May 22nd. They've posted a pair of songs from the album online. "To Better Days" features Die Mannequin and Patrick Pentland of Sloan . "Miles Around" features contributions from Broken Social Scene 's Brendan Canning. Have a listen here:

Sloan's Chris Murphy | Photo by Audrey Leon Age ain't nothing but a number. The members of Sloan are well into their forties but they maintain the same youthful vigor on stage that they had exactly 20 years ago. Host venue, Subterranean, was comfortably packed on both the main floor and the balcony. The crowd was likely more mature than most shows, but its collective enthusiasm never waned, even as the Canadian melodic pop rockers wove 11 of 12 new songs from its recent [...]

Sloan Three no-rain-can-stop-me-from-witne ssing-the-Canadian-rock-band-o f-my-dreams reasons to water-ski over to Subterranean tonight... 1. The Halifax-born and bred rockers Sloan return to the Windy City in support of its 10th album The Double Cross . The quartet has accomplished what many bands of its age, 20, or older do not: a lengthy catalog of catchy pop rock tunes that never get old. I could casually slip on 1994's Twice Removed or 2007's Never Hear the End of It [...]

Behind every hard-working, dream-chasing musician is a mom who let her son or daughter convert the garage into a studio, or drove the minivan to their first show, or made them practice guitar for an hour every night before TV-time. As we lead up to Mother's Day on Sunday, we've decided to salute these hippest of ladies through stories and quotes from many musicians (and their moms!) Here is Rob Higgins of Toronto alt-rock band Dearly Beloved and his mom Susie to indulge us: [...]
Rob Higgins was a stalwart on the Toronto indie scene throughout the '90s. Working with such highly esteemed local acts as Change Of Heart, Tristan Psionic, and By Divine Right, his contributions to the development of the scene are immeasurable. Now Higgins has teamed up with a cast of Toronto music veterans for the project Dearly Beloved. The band releases their new EP They Will Take Up
Toronto indie rock outfit Dearly Beloved will be releasing their new EP They Will Take Up Serpents on April 27th. If you're not familiar with the band you'll definitely be familiar with the work of mastermind Rob Higgins who, as a veteran of the Toronto indie scene, has played with such seminal bands as Change Of Heart, Tristan Psionic, and By Divine Right. Dearly Beloved will be holding a CD

Words: Emmy Droege So I was more than a little skeptical about a father and son band cranking out an official album. In fact, my preconceived notion was an old geezer trying to build some musical bond with his pre-pubescent son. Keep in mind, however, that this was all before I listened to Arranged Marriage , an abovementioned group who hail from Livonia, Michigan. And no, I don't know where that is either. Wherever [...]

Dearly Beloved is a Canadian band who are not afraid to sing about an angry young dumb fuck in the very first line of opening track Acceptance Corporation . This is band that doesn't mess around, they go for dark moody rock songs for the all dressed in black "life sucks and so do you" crowd. Well, not really. Composer and band leader Rob Higgins is far too smart to get himself labeled as a teen angst peddling rock dude and his lyrics are authentic and real. Make It Bleed is their US debut [...]
The best thing about Dearly Beloved 's debut, Make It Bleed, is that it defies expectations. The indie band's name and the record title might have you expecting a pre-shrunk iteration of My Chemical Romance, but the album is better than that. There are some very catchy hooks here, but aside from a few quality singles, this record doesn't have amazing staying power. The album opens with "Acceptance Corporation", which begins with an intriguing combo of building guitar, quiet cymbal, and a gong-effect, but too soon opens into a somewhat-forgettable montage of grungy guitar and [...]
Dearly Beloved is a four-piece group out of Toronto who seem to have this rock thing down pretty well. They've got a sort of Subways kind of sound, which is just fine in my book. That said, it's got an chorus that is catchy as hell, they have some decent guitar licks, and they generally play some pretty decent rock music. Their first EP, Repo , just came out last week to some glowing reviews, some of which laud their lead singer/songwriter, Rob Higgins, and justifiably so. [...]
