Mumford & Sons, Air Canada Centre, Oct 25th Chris Moyles' favorite family plumbing company comes to town and fills a surprisingly large venue. Good work Mumford & Sons . Death From Above 1979, Sound Academy, Oct 27th They were arguably the heaviest band to come out of the early 2000s Canadian indie rock explosion, now Death From Above 1979 are back with a reunion tour. Hopefully they're loud enough to shake the shitty Sound Academy to the ground. ...also this week: [...]

Wikipedia As recently as a year ago, it didn't look like this cover would ever get a chance to be aired out again in a legitimate manner. Sure, I posted it back in 2007 when Sebastien Grainger's new band The Mountains opened up for Bloc Party , but that was tenuous at best - Death From Above 1979 had been inactive since 2006 and Bloc Party were formally on hiatus as of Summer 2009. And yet here we are, with both sides of the equation back in action. DFA19792s [...]

TREASURE ISLAND 2011 REVIEW Treasure Island Music Festival returned for its fifth year to the Bay Area, yet again, bringing an eclectic mix of bands on the rise and established acts. The weather was perfect for the festival, as it stayed warm during the day, and breezy cool during the evening. Much of Treasure Island's usual main attractions were in place; the DIY workshop (making bandanas, beer koozies, and even dream catchers), vendor village for clothes and accessories, Silent Disco, and of course the 60 foot ferris wheel where people can get cozy with friends, intimate [...]

Photo by Debi Del Grande Since reuniting at South by Southwest earlier this year, rock warriors Death From Above 1979 have been wreaking havoc, and destroying eardrums at many North American music festivals. (Side note: CoS has been with them every step of the way, having seen them at SXSW , Coachella , Sasquatch! , Quebec City Summer Fest , Lollapalooza , FYF Fest , ACL , and, most recently, Treasure Island . In related news, staff-wide hearing is down 45%.) Now, the duo [...]

Boasting past acts like Justice, MGMT, Modest Mouse, and Vampire Weekend, the Treasure Island Music Festival returned to San Francisco this year with a whole new dose of indie jewels. Billed for the weekend? Such critically-acclaimed artists as Cut Copy , Empire of the Sun , and St. Vincent . Those in attendance? Pirates, indians, and aliens alike. Saturday was a time for raucous play and shameless dance parties. Dizzee Rascal , Cut Copy, and Empire of the Sun led the way, attracting the weekend's highest volume of festival-goers. Chromeo 's [...]

So I went to this year's Treasure Island Music Festival , probably one of the best music festivals around with it's San Francisco skyline backdrop and two days of amazing weather, oh yeah and music, they had that too. I didn't have my DSLR camera this time around so you're going to have to deal with iPhone 4S pictures with Instagram filters. Enjoy! Geographer Best Warm-Up Act – Geographer It was nice to hear new material as I've been patiently waiting for it [...]
You may have been out of it. Who can blame you with all the beer, ferris wheel action, and artistic statues? Fortunately, our man with a cam, Mike Rosati, snapped these wonderful pics.
Celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, Treasure Island Music Festival once again stole the hearts of many with its boisterous carnival themes, quirky booths, genre-appropriate weekend scheduling, and supremely thought-out set rosters. With each set staggered between the two extremely close stages, it was almost impossible to miss a show, allowing the festival goers to pick and choose which shows to attend or skip and quickly run to the nearest wine/beer booth. Day one focused on hip hop, electronica, and dance-pop genres; a day considered to most as the "wilder" day with chaotic crowds and costume-clad attendees. [...]

I will confess to initially being more than a bit mystified by the hype surrounding the return of Toronto duo Death from Above 1979 . That's not because I hadn't enjoyed the band's You're a Woman, I'm a Machine LP - sure, I recalled enjoying it quite a bit - but the band's quick ascent, dissolution relatively soon thereafter, and return to performing five years later isn't exactly the sort of feel-good "unheralded band gets due decades later" sort of comeback story that invests a reunion announcement with real, um, meaning . In this age [...]
Parklife started as a small festival in a Sydney park that only a thousand people visited. The festival now travels to the five major Australian cities, and has attracted acts like Justice, Empire of the Sun, The Rapture, and Crystal Castles. The event has diversified recently with bands like Darwin Deez and the Wombats, and we're excited we were able to attend this year! Parklife is supposed to be the start of the summer festival season in Australia. Held around the country over two weekends, the erratic weather has been known to wreak havoc on ticket holders, [...]
Back in May, Death From Above 1979 played two sold-out shows in London, completely validating why they got back together. Next week Sebastien Grainger and Jesse Keeler will be back in the country to bring a bit of chaos to the capital (O2 Brixton Academy 7th Oct) again, as well as Manchester Academy (6th Oct). To enter the chance to win the tickets to either date, just answer this following question... Death From Above 1979 hail from...? a) Toronto [...]

When @LMBNOLA editor Wes got his new camera and started throwing together animated gifs from the shows he had been seeing, I was immediately hooked. Behold...here's a collection of photos from ACL Fest 2011 in animated GIF format. It's hard to portray how much fun a festival can really be, but I think this does it about the best I can do. We've got some action from Santigold , Skrillex , Coldplay , Kanye and more. Read on for the full set of awesomeness... [...]
