I am a giant fan of Austin, TX especially after this year's phenomenal SXSW festival. The city breathes music and is the perfect place to catch a show. Which is why I'm this close to buying a plane ticket and heading back down there for Austin City Limits. It runs from September 14-16 and the headliners include Arcade Fire, Coldplay, My Morning Jacket, Stevie Wonder and Kanye West. On top of that, artists like Fleet Foxes, TV on the Radio, Chromeo, Bright Eyes, Death From Above 1979, Social Distortion and many, many, MANY more [...]
Death From Above 1979 at Coachella ( more by David Andrako ) Lets pray that riot police won't be deployed when Death From Above 1979 play their NYC reunion show on the banks of the East River, at Williamsburg Waterfront on 7/22 . Tickets go on sale on Friday (5/20) at noon. The NYC date is one of a few the band has scheduled for the summer, and a rare non-festival appearance for the band who [...]
If you love Death From Above 1979 , James Bond, and titties, you'll dig DZ Deathrays . The Aussie band are touring the shit out of the UK right now, but will hopefully make it back stateside before summer's end. Dear HMV Forum, With regards to your recent concert of Death From Above 1979, I'd hereby like to raise a few issues, which I felt greatly impacted on my overall gig-enjoyment. Firstly, I ought to clarify that I was on the balcony. And I understand that there are rules and health and safety and whatnot but I have never in my life been told off for dancing at a gig. Complete and utter total sad-face. We acquiesced to your demands and sat down, peering over the balcony, watching the pit surge and sway, feeling [...]
It's been five years since Death From Above 1979 split up, five long horrible years without music's greatest drum and bass duo (sorry run,WALK!). When it was announced this year that they would be playing the American festival Coachella, it enraged and saddened a lot of people that this could quite possibly be their only reunion and that fans this side of the atlantic wouldn't get a shot at seeing them once more. However a month down the line, and it was announced they had a couple of gigs left in them, a string of dates spread across the globe [...]
Photograph by Paul Bridgewater. It may not have been mobbed by thousands of fans at the last minute or broken out in a riot but Death From Above 1979 's first show in the UK in over 5 years last night was as ferocious and chaotic as ever. Taking to the stage after Wichita 's Young Legionnaire had weaved an intricate web of early Biffy Cyro-esque noise, the venerable Canadian duo were welcomed by frenzied adoration. Kicking the evening's [...]
Coachella die-hards like me take a lot of pride in our little desert festival. It's something we talk about all year and dream about for a good chunk of the year, and judging by the quick sellout this year, we've done an ace job convincing our friends it's worth the trouble in the middle of April. What has always set Coachella apart from other festivals, including major competitors like Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, ACL, and fellow West Coast destination fest Sasquatch, is consistently imaginative, diverse, cream-of-the-crop lineups. Despite 20112s cluttered market, this year was no exception - although no one [...]
It's fitting that the day the Lollapalooza lineup hits, it's muggy in Chicago. It's sort of a reminder of the sticky chaos that's sure to come in August: the days where an icy bottle of water sounds more intriguing than a stack of ones, the moments where you're deciding if your legs can trek the half a mile or so across the park one last time (all for an indie act you've only "heard" about), or the hours spent debating new-found friends on the CTA over what headliner will draw the most. Yeah, it's nearly summer in Chicago, [...]
Here it is, guys. The festival lineup you've been waiting for. Lollapalooza, which runs from August 5-7 in Chicago's Grant Park, has revealed the lineup for its 20th anniversary. Muse, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, My Morning Jacket and Eminem will takeover on headlining duties. Rolling Stone also reports that A Perfect Circle, Deadmau5, The Cars, Ween, Bright Eyes, Cold War Kids, Best Coast, Smith Westerns, Big Audio Dynamite, Explosions in the Sky and more will perform at Perry Farrell's musical extravaganza. Three day passes go for [...]

Austin City Limits 2011 Lineup Announced
Last night a little after midnight, Austin City Limits, or ACL as the kids call it, dropped their 10th anniversary lineup for this year's festival. No real surprises as the major headliners were either already announced or revealed by the scratch off tickets, but still you have got Kanye and Arcade Fire in here as well as music legend Stevie Wonder, not a bad little lineup. There are also a ton of great mid-level bands in here, so check out the full lineup below. As of right now, all 3-day passes for this festival are sold out, [...]

Speakerboxxx.com Presents Boner Jams #18: Sasquatch! Music Festvial Edition
Well, it's that time again. Sasquatch! Music Festival is just around the corner and I'm heading down to cover the event for the third year in a row. I'm looking forward to pretty much everything that comes with the festival while down there, but one can't deny the main reason, and that's for the music. [...]

Metallica, Elton John, The Black Keys head Quebec City Summer Fest 2011
Outside of Rock in Rio , no festival features a more eclectic bill than the Quebec City Summer Festival . Last year, for example, Rammstein, Arcade Fire, and the Black Eyed Peas all played . For the 2011 edition, set to take place July 7-17 across various indoor and outdoor venues in downtown Quebec City, festival organizers have tapped Metallica, Elton John, The Black Keys, Ben Harper, Girl Talk, Death From Above 1979, and John Fogerty. Soungarden, Death Cab For Cutie, My Morning Jacket head Ottawa Bluesfest 2011
Ottawa Bluesfest is Canada's equivalent to Summerfest, a week-long, all-out music extravaganza featuring more acts than the total population of Delaware. This year's edition, set for July 5-17 on the grounds of the Canadian War Museum, is topped by the reunited Soundgarden, My Morning Jacket, Death Cab For Cutie, A Perfect Circle, The Black Keys, Erykah Badu, The Tragically Hip, Death For Above 1979, The Flaming Lips, Girl Talk, and Ben Harper. Other notables include The Roots, Peter Frampton, John Fogerty, Buddy Guy, Steve Miller, Huey Lewis and the News, Jennifer Hudson, Rise Against, Dropkick Murphys, Tegan [...]
Lollapalooza 2011 Lineup Announced
At midnight (or thereabouts) last night, C3 dropped the lineup for this year's iteration of Lollapalooza, which will festively adorn the shores of the great Lake Michigan on August 5th-7th this year. This is the 20th anniversary of the festival, which used to be a touring festival but recently has had a home at Grant Park in Chicago. While the top of the lineup is not exactly awe-inspiring this year, there are once again a ton of great smaller and up and coming bands playing this year and it is always a festival worth checking out. Check [...]

COACHELLA DAY 3: THE NATIONAL + BON IVER + KANYE WEST + THE STROKES + DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 + DURAN DURAN + BEST COAST + FOSTER THE PEOPLE + PJ HARVEY
Perhaps the greatest gift Coachella bestows upon its attendees is the feeling that you're not alone. Schmaltzy, yes, but stick with us. Now, among discerning music fans, a band like The National is far from obscure. They've garnered widespread critical praise over five albums, played on national TV and multiple international festivals, and are even headlining the Hollywood Bowl later this year. But ask your mom, your older sister, the guy who sits next to you at work or the dude from high school you still keep up [...]
