One of my favourite acts of all-time. Watch the videos for 'Dirt', 'Aisha', 'Neptune City' and 'Hands Around My Throat' from MUZU . Must dig out The Contino Sessions again.
I've never heard of VV Brown, or Hannah Holland, but apparently VV Brown is a new artist, so it's good to know i'm not living in a hole. VV describes herself as a "do wop indie from outer space" On remix duty - Hannah Holland , resident at the infamous Trailer Trash night in Shoreditch as well as running her own night Bastard Batty Bass . Hannah recently branched out into production, and for a first go, this his remix is solid. Watch out for the launch of Hannah's new label [...]

Kev's already made his apology and so here's mine, in the form of a light-on-words 40 song clear-out of everything I've been going to post but just haven't been able to come up with a suitable tenuous sexually ambiguous rant and pun post title for. And even with a 40 song post I still can't manage any sort of real variety. Sorry. Prints - Me & Ms Archer (MP3) Not sure what to call this other than electronic indie pop. Anyway, it's new and good and was apparently [...]

The guys over at WLFY are having a vote , if I've got my timezones correct, round 1 ends Thursday 0559 GMT. I coughed up the form to make voting easier. It's a shame these guys didn't make the cut, maybe next year? hint, hint... [mp3] DIV - Zugaga [mp3] DIV - Aisha [mp3] DIV - So You Say You Lost Your Baby www.myspace.com/deathinvegas
now that I've officially stated, that I should spend my time studying, more and more good music comes my way and I cannot NOT post it. So for the time being, I decided on only posting mixes, because it saves time, that I need for learning. Anyway, The Black Ghosts are releasing a mixtape on March, 17th, consisting of known BG songs like Face, Someway Through This or the remix of The Whip's
I think for every music enthusiast, there comes a defining moment in your life where you really discover music. During the mid-90's, amidst the experimental phase of MTV (or how I refer to it, the only time MTV mattered), that moment came in the form of the music video program Amp . The series ran from 1996-2001 - though it hit its peak in 1998 before it fell apart when it was later called Amp 2.0 - and showcased electronica to the mainstream. The show would come on every [...]
In an alternative world yesterday's announcement would have run something along the lines of the following: "Huge pirate music site legitimised and integrated in new BFI distribution network." "Users encouraged to keep torrents open to distribute obscure content for credit and first listens to new work." "24-year-old man from Middlesbrough given 'Extremely lucrative' position as new music distribution method administrator reporting to Shawn Fanning, head of IFPI." I'm not an artist, merely someone that likes music to the point where I like to share it with anyone that is willing to listen. [...]
In celebration of CMJ week, I have created some Mp3s from the CD that came in The College Music Journal issue no. 51 (Nov. '97). Before the word "blog" was a glimmer in any of our eyes, the CMJ CD was how a very large percentage of people discovered music. And so, in the spirit of brief descriptions and rhetorical questions, I will now share my thoughts in one sentence or more for each song selected. Portishead - "All Mine" This song has some ill-tyme break beats and the horns drop in [...]

It started in the rowhouse alleys of Baltimore like most afterschool specials: couple of carefree young folks walking home from guitar hero practice. Tommy whips out a copy of the Thrushes' Sun Come Undone that he ripped from his older brother's hype machine stash. Reginald runs home, Carl's not so sure about this, but they spark earbuds and before you know it, A's in World History and Basic HTML Programming are becoming B's and C plus pluses. Away messages are peppered with Nietzsche quotes, Loveless posters plaster bedroom windows. Dinner table conversation is sparse, forks scrape absently; sarcasm [...]

It is time to do my first mix so I thought long and hard about what I should do first. I don't know if it's been done, but even if it has I put together a ten song mix of amazing instrumentals. I think songs can be powerful, emotional, intelligent and thought provoking without having to say a single word. The music can carry its own weight and on these ten tracks, the music really gets into some great places. Iamb-"Alone" Iamb comes from the mind of Ross Major and this is the first [...]

I've been linked and interviewed in a great article about the iPhone and people's reaction to the latest ads that is appearing in the New York Times today. So, in an effort to grab the attention of the (hopefully) hundreds of users making their way to my site from the article today, here's a mix that I've had on my mind for a while - songs inspired by Tokyo. If you're looking for the iPhone post that got me into the New York Times you can find it by clicking here . [...]

The first of these posts of the year has left me with a nagging feeling of returning routine, one I'm not completely comfortable with. I'll persist despite it. First point of order is an interesting curiosity which expands on the supposed satanic message in Led Zeppelin's Stairway To Heaven as discussed in the Skeptic.com video that The Don posted this week . You can listen to Britney saying "sleep with me I'm not too young" and other crazy things here (Thanks Justin). Today's humble collection includes something new from Modest Mouse. With the addition of [...]

So you want to know what kind of music I am listening to. Well here are the top selections. How can one select 5 top tracks when there are so many? WinAMP's Most played list helped but nothing beats sitting for hours listening to tunes in agony. Enjoy! Jamie T - Sheila (demo) Straight out of the pseudo genre breeding ground of brit-pop comes a fresh 20 year old singer songwriter, Jamie Treays. Jamie T as he is [...]

I had to do some research for tonight's post. A little background reading. Because the only thing I knew about this track is that it's absolutely awesome. Seriously. It's leapfrogged it's way into my top 10 favourite tracks this year. Other than that, I knew nothing about Teddybears . Whereas now, I know that they're from Sweden and that their debut album covers everything from garage punk to electro, dancehall to krautrock. Apparently. Ok so granted, my research wasn't deep. You may even go so far as to call it shallow. I certainly couldn't write [...]
While watching television last night, a commercial for the new De Palma film, The Black Dahlia came on, and I couldn't get over how familiar the trailer song sounded. I did a bit of research and, as it turned out it was "Dirge" by Death In Vegas off of their '99 release The Contino Sessions , which I just happen to have in my collection. Here is the song in question for anyone wondering: [...]
