MySpace | Facebook
Sydney's Deep Sea Arcade have always been a lover of the Sixties - with their kaleidoscopic sounds, Beatles and Zombies influence and Nic Mckenzie's dreamy, reverberated vocals. And you know what else they loved in the Sixties? Girls! So it's fitting, really, that 'Girls' is the title of Deep Sea Arcade's new video
Our East Coast homie, Parvez of Montreal State of Mind recently put together a nice disco mix. He mentions that the inspiration for the mix was the Spring / Summer season kicking off the Grand Prix, which took place this past weekend, and for those who missed it, you missed a pretty incredible race with [...]
Photography: Andrea Pretty much my friend's response when I told her about the blog few days ago, took me by surprise. Feel good with Blue Satellite , will you? ;) Deep Sea Arcade - Keep On Walking (Blue Satellite Remix)

"Keep On Walking" - Deep Sea Arcade Deep Sea Arcade . Sounds a bit like Arcade Fire. Not a bad choice of band name right now! If only I could dance a bit like Michael Jackson, I'd put a hooded jacket on, headphones, and dance down the street to this song, being sure to push everybody else out of my way. Download "Keep On Walking"

Led to Sea is the solo project of Seattle-based violist Alex Guy and after spending recent years as a touring musician with Mirah and Laura Veirs, Led To Sea is proud to release her new album of beautiful orchestral and stripped-down songs for viola and voice. Into The Darkening Sky is currently available nationwide. With Andrew Bird and St. Vincent comparisons abound, her voice has a hypnotic quality to it, when coupled with her viola, silence the audience. I will start off by saying I hope everyone is having a good week so far.I have been thinking about Hypem lately and how I miss them,I miss being listed.I have felt like a lost kid running threw the woods and it just never ends.I know we had are words and everything.I just wish that they would set aside what has happened and let us back in the circle. It feels like we are the loser in high school sometimes.Like I'm just not cool enough for the party. The party being "HypeM".I mean we contribute alot.So why not give us another chance?Anyways [...]

Deep Sea Arcade are a band from Sydney, Australia. They kind of make music that rocks that whole psychedelic/shoe-gaze vibe, but maybe with a bit of a pop edge? They remind me of The Monkees, that isn't a diss, it's just who they remind me of. Their latest single "Keep On Walking" has been remixed by Blue Satellite who has given the track a laid-back funky groovy feel. Fans of Hemingway should definitely check this one out, very smooth indeed. Download - Deep Sea Arcade - Keep On Walking (Blue Satellite [...]

Speaking of hot spots of the last few years Australia has to be one of the top contenders for that award as well, although more for the electronic pop/dancey side of things. This week I got sent this track "Keep on Walking" by Sydney, Australia band Deep Sea Arcade that cite their influences from bands like The Zombies and Stone Roses. I can definitely hear that. Rocking 60's psych/shoegazey goodness from down under? Heck, yes! Here is their track [...]

These fellows from Sydney, Australia play great catchy, pop numbers, and vaguely remind me of '60s boy bands like the Beach Boys and the Monkees (it's not often I get to make that comparison). They've been getting quite a bit of blog love , considering they're releasing their debut album in 2011. Plus, based on our correspondence, they have high quality taste in music and a good sense of humor. When you watch their video for "Don't Be Sorry," keep an eye out for the Beatles hair. Deep Sea Arcade - Keep On [...]
Deep Sea Arcade - Keep On Walking mp3"I think our music would be a really good fit with your blog." So said Andy Cassell* of Sydney band Deep Sea Arcade,** and Andy was right. Hopefully you've already listened and will agree with Andy and me. Before we listened, we had a good feeling when Andy told us the band like The Zombies and The Stone Roses. Mmm-hmmm. We're excited to learn the band plan to

As an ignorant American, virtually all I know about the cultural nuances of Australia and New Zealand can neatly be summed up with these skits from Flight of the Conchords : So: I know nothing. I even thought that New Zealand was part of Australia's "continent"; turns out they're on completely different continental shelves . So what qualifies me to talk about Australia's or New Zealand's music? I know how to use the internet just well enough to set up a blog, that's what. Someone should really put [...]
JUSTIN VERNONJustin Vernon is certainly not a new artist to the scene... I mean he is relatively new, but still a well known figure in the blog world (see: Bon Iver, Volcano Choir, & Gayngs). Regardless, he has taken part in a somewhat recent (June 2010) John Prine tribute album. The song below is a John Prine classic, "Bruised Orange (Chain Of Sorrow)" covered beautifully by ma' boy JV. By the

So I thought I'd give my fellow aussies Deep Sea Arcade some a-life lovin'. They've been getting a lot of air-play on JJJ for their single Lonely In Your Arms (Brilliant video!) which is just as poppy & catchy. This here is a solid effort though, I don't know if it's the church alter acoustics, the forefront tambourine or the unwavering drum rhythm ala (sp?) Ringo that makes these guys sound very Beatles in this recording - but I like it. And I'm trying out Soundcloud instead of FileDen with [...]
Describing their genre as a "haunting psychedelic indiepop swordsmen times five," this Sydney based quintuple, Deep Sea Arcade , make irresistible reverberated pop tunes reminiscent of The Zombies or The Kinks. Feast your ears on their charming new single 'Lonely in your Arms,' directed and animated by the bands front man Nic Mckenzie. Apparently the guitarist Tim Chamberlain also doubles as a Go Go Dancer…can you tell which one?

More stuff from Sydney lads AEONS . They've just completed an official remix of Deep Sea Arcade's endlessly catchy 'Lonely In Your Arms'. Bouncy Hammond organs juxtaposed with your traditional Sydney-style analogue bass effusions. Pretty different to the original, suffice to say. Deep Sea Arcade - Lonely In Your Arms (Aeons Remix) They also did this dutty lil' bootleg of Ellie Goulding's 'Between The Sheets' (yeah, i know, her again ay?) for their DJ sets. They've since taken the track out of their boot, wrote it out [...]

Some sydney on sydney action with cutesy indie rockers Deep Sea Arcade getting a shade of shooting electronic bass via part time instrument bangers and part time studio types Aeons . What starts with some friendly chords melts down into a fairly dubious and dark smattering of noise. Deep Sea Arcade – Lonely In Your Arms Pretty dang great to hear Deep Sea Arcade go back to that kinda scratchy, kinda swaggering '60s pop sound that made that early demo of their #1 jam Crouch End such a golden classic of 2008. Not that their more recent experiments with hi-fidelity haven't been extremely rewarding but seriously, when you've got handclaps and tinny drums and that Hawaii Five-O guitar sound why not just roll with it? Shit is scientifically proven to break hearts and/or move feet. Lonely In Your Arms is similar in [...]
