[RSS Readers: See post to listen to audio] Let's start from the end of a session where you listened to some good dub techno, okay its stops playing and you're world just comes back to normal like someone stopped pushing you on the swingset and just walked away. If you haven't listened to much Dub Techno, don't focus on it, do something else and keep it a volume thats quiet but where you can still hear all the pieces echoing off and dim the lights, I promise you'll find that it sets a tone, nothing generic just [...]

#17 Deepchord presents Echospace - The Coldest Season (2007) Oh fucking hell baby it's cold outside, and my albums of the decade list doesn't seem to want to get warm anytime soon either, just check out number 17. Deepchord Presents Echospace's 'The Coldest Season' is a monolithic, hissing, dub-techno concept album about winter that sometimes sounds like gas cooling on a distant planet. Indeed it is so alien and frigid that SunnO)))'s 'cursed realm (of the winterdemons)' might seem like [...]

Ah lads, I can't handle this humid weather. It's suffocating. Earlier, a trip to the shop for a cooling lolly nearly left me collapsed in a wheezing heap. Night time is worse. I ended up rooting around the freezer for bags of frozen veg to put under my sheets last night. They sort of worked too, like reverse hot water bottles with broccoli florets in them. In case you're wondering, I didn't share my bed with the foodstuff. I patiently watched a bit of BBC News 24 as they worked their magic. I can be a bit gross at times, [...]

This Saturday sees the launch of Craig Richards ' new night 'The Nothing Special' at his long term residency Fabric . The idea behind the night is to showcase live acts and to start things off he's got a couple of corker's lined up in the shape of Deepchord / Echospace and Convextion. I've waxed lyrical about Convextion on these pages before and Echospace's Coldest Season LP was one of my favourite albums of last year. Large sections of the album are indeed very ambient and unlikely to whip up any [...]

the dark side of the wall outlet, 2007 Deepchord presents Echospace - Abraxas (Dub Techno) - this duo is comprised of rod modell and stephen hitchell and their series of twelve inches 'the coldest season' have now been collected onto one album. it's pure chilled dubby excess at it's best. Lee Moses - I Can't Take No Chances (R&B) - from the reissued 'time and place', although it's still on import, but it's well worth it.
"Mi piaceva lasciare il mio vecchio Korg MS-20 al freddo del garage durante i mesi invernali. Poi lo portavo dentro la casa riscaldata, lo accendevo e programmavo qualcosa di semplice con un sequencer SQ-10 e quella piccola sequenza di dodici passi mutava per due ore. Cambiava costantemente. Era sorprendente per me. Potevi lasciare la stanza, tornare e scoprire che suonava completamente differente. Così organico e vivo. La sua personalità cambiava mentre si riscaldava e si metteva a suo agio, proprio come avrebbe fatto un essere umano. Questa 'forza vitale' è il motivo per cui amiamo l'analogico." [...]
