So we would normally have our new releases out this week on Tuesday, but the new releases this time of year are few and far between. We decided to compile some tracks for your listening pleasure as you hang with family and friends around the tree, or cuddling up with your significant other in front of the yule log. Props to Vague Space for making our job pretty easy, by hosting some rad Christmas flavored tracks. Cheers. The Raveonettes; Christmas Song [...]

Next to share their favourites of the year is part man part canine Barry-Sean... What a fantastic year for music this has been for me. I don't just mean for music that has been produced this year but more about the music that I've discovered from previous years (or, more accurately in most cases, music that has been discovered for me). And, because I've spent a lot of time going backwards and forwards to London on the train, I've had loads of listening time. Hurrah! So here we go. Here's my top ten songs of 2011. [...]

Our third top ten contributions come from Starbar and JaMS who job share in the office. This is JaMS first entry in to the guest top ten spots, but first up is Starbie... 10. Laura Marling – I Was Just A Card 9. Slow Club – If we're Still Alive a 8. The Decemberists – This Is Why we Fight 7. Lana Del Ray – Video Games a [...]

For the second of our 'guest' top ten posts we are pleased to welcome the finger-choppin' Banner to the roster with his first contribution to the end of year best of lists. " It's been a great year musically and especially as this year I became a dad. I'd like to thank Doctor Roddy and Chris T Popper for their steady supply of CDs this year and especially for little Max's mega mix from which I've selected some of my top ten tunes. I would like to have written a bit more about the songs but unfortunately I [...]

Last night, Rhode Island's own Deer Tick stopped by Conan to perform "Funny Word", one of many whiskey-soaked anthems off their latest LP, Divine Providence . Behind a Kurt Cobain-designed Fender Jagstang - which is all too fitting given the band's previous alter-ego Deervana - vocalist John McCauley trudged through the messy rocker like a true Westerberg scholar. If there's any band that matches its sound, it's Deer Tick. A beard, some flannel, and a support group of scraggly hair are all key ingredients to any grand bar band. They've got it [...]

[Photo courtesy of MaryAnne Ventrice. See her portfolio [ HERE ]] After their recent, raucous performance at Webster Hall, we saw a very different sort of Deer Tick -related performance this past Wednesday night at Glasslands. Ian O'Neil, who has been Deer Tick's guitarist since 2009, and previously played with Titus Andronicus , gave a relaxed, intimate performance of old standards as well as numbers from Deer Tick's divisive new album, Divine Providence and new solo numbers (presumably) of his own . Sticking primarily to a more country-folk sound, [...]

So these are not really in any order, in fact you could say they were "OUT OF ORDER!" I found myself listening to an album a lot, then not really listening to it again until I DID listen to it again. Here are the ones I listened to the most, and therefore I guess they are the best of the year, I guess. And again, let me stress that in true non committal Electric Mustache fashion, these are presented not in any specific order, and also with videos instead of album art/mp3s, because video are way way easier. [...]
Here are a few more videos that we've enjoyed recently. First up is a welcome return for Goldheart Assembly and a song called Linnaeus that comes from their second album due out in spring next year. Also keeping it pretty mellow is Kathleen Edwards with the video for her forthcoming single, Change The Sheets . [...]
Originally released to MTV in a family-friendly censored form, the NSFW version of Deer Tick's video for "Main Street", the first video off Divine Providene , is available to watch. Watch the video directed by Colin Devin Moore. http://rpc.blogcatalog.com/ http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ ping

Deer Tick has been busy since the release of their new album Divine Providence and now they have a full blown music video to prove it - compliments of MTV?? But the confusion doesn't stop there - fireworks, unnecessary slow mo, trashing instruments and ridiculous pyrotechnics all have me wondering what Deer Tick was thinking with this one. It's a shame to see such a good song treated in this way but it looks like the guy with the spray paint got it right "this video sucks." Check out the special uncensored version below, where [...]
An explosive and destructive video for Deer Tick 's "Main Street", directed by Colin Devin Moore
From the first song on Deer Tick's new album Divine Providence , you can tell this is going to be a departure from the rootsy sound of Born on Flag Day . Divine Providence is mostly a party album with plenty of highs and lows, and a bit of twang. Check out the new video for the single Main Street off the new album. It starts off with a single small explosion hitting Deer Tick 's keyboardist. It soon expands into a full-fledged explosion, and just continues to get more destructive from there. By the end of the video, there's nothing left, just smoldering ruins. Oh, and there's also some urine, so you might not want to view this one at work.
