RA.312 Deetron - 2012.05.21 Swiss beats. Deetron: A name you can depend on. The Swiss DJ and producer has been in the house and techno scene since the mid-'90s, and he seemingly hasn't put a foot wrong at any point. Whether it be his exceptional three-deck mixing or his elegant productions for label home base Music Man, Sam Geiser is the definition of consistent. Of late, however, Deetron has been outdoing himself a bit. Last year's Starblazer single for Rejected was one of the most charted tracks of 2011 on Resident Advisor, while his two-disc mix [...]
As we near the end of April and gear up for the next Bank Holiday, the number of emails flying into my inbox from promoters, DJs and PRs with a veritable amount of new events is becoming a little... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

We've been big fans of the Bristol house experts, October & Borai , for a short while now, and Level Abstain is an absolute perfect follow up to their huge release on the underrated BRSTL . This is only the second release for the young vinyl only Never Learnt imprint, who's debut with Nyra was a well received twelve inch even that even a label worth it's weight in gold would be proud of. Not ones to be complacent, I'm glad to see Never Learnt were [...]
Underground SoundsA pinch of nu-disco and a handful of bouncing bass. Recipe for success. download: James Curd - Decadance (Richard Richard Remix) download: Azari & III - Into The Night (Softwar Remix) I'm not really sure how to explain this track, but I can say from first hand experience that it's a dancefloor monster. At the right hour of the AM this one does unmeasurable amounts of
What better way to start off the weekend than in the deep end? First up we have this absolute bomb of a track from Maceo Plex's own Ellum Audio "Sleazy Riders Collection" that comes out just in time for Miami. Head over to Beatport to scope the full compilation, the other efforts are definitely worth checking out, my two picks in particular being the Lukatron and Sync Mode trax. If you're in

With his discography stretching back more than a dozen years, Sam Geiser can rightfully be regarded as a house and techno veteran, having notched up nearly 30 single releases, one full length album, and a staggering number of remixes since his debut in 1998. Hailing from Bern, Switzerland, Geiser first appeared at the end of the 90s via a series of hard looping techno releases on labels of the day like Phont, Primate and Intec. Since then he has been steadily refining and evolving his productions, coming to the wider attention of the electronic music community with Detroit-soaked slices of [...]

Photo by Peter Zachary Voelker A post that is seriously long overdue is this remix by young French producer Davka . To be honest I don't think the original by Deetron & Seth Troxler is all that interesting, but Davka added something to it that blends in with original production so well it makes you think it was always supposed to be this way. And it seems to be a trend throughout his remixes, his remix for Sound Pellegrino's Bassface for example can convince you the Thermal Team is actually a robotic [...]

Absolutely loving the Miguel Migs - Close Your Eyes remixes from Osunlade and Deetron. Osunlade takes us into a dreamy soulful day dream while Deetron starts us off on a similar floaty vibe but slowly and subtly weaves in some feel good ravey bits. Top top stuff! Miguel Migs f. Meshell Ndegeocello - Close Your Eyes (Osunlade's Yoruba Soul Mix) Miguel Migs 'Close Your Eyes feat. Meshell Ndegeocello (Deetron Remix)'

BALANCE 020, a two-disc compilation mixed by Sweden's Deetron , will be out Tuesday, November 8. Featuring a selection of classics and lesser-known tracks, this mix seeks to prove that vinyl and digital mixing can coexist. As Deetron puts it, "This compilation is a celebration of the gorgeous format that is vinyl and a praise for the endless possibilities the digital world has to offer." The track selection and structure of each of these two sublime mixes lovingly and carefully reflects that inherent choice of medium, while at all times reminding the listener why his highly accessible, humanistic sound [...]
This first one is the type of song that just seems made for those intangible moments in life where you find yourself staring out over a sunset or reflecting on the deeper side of things. Everything about it from the perfectly layered bells and bassline to the dreamy vocals that float over the track combine to make it one of those songs that listening to it strikes an emotional chord. At least it

Our Matt Oliver recently sang the praises of Miguel Migs' latest album, Outside the Skyline , calling it "a massive lesson in doing the simple things well." One of the album's best tracks is "Close Your Eyes" featuring the inimitable voice of Meshell Ndegeocello. Migs handed over the tune to several remixers - Deetron, Osunlade, Uner, Woolfy, Shades of Gray, Orio Calvo and Alex Gomez, Dave Mayer and Dutchian Soul & Salva - and is graciously giving away the Salva Remix. Download the single below and buy the single when it drops on November 7.
I had the joy of hearing this record a few times over the weekend, and there is no doubt it's an absolute burner. The original version from Gerd is a ripper, especially when that bass line hits for the first time. Sure enough the Alden Tyrell and Serge remix also holds it own and makes the original Royal Oak record worth the money. But then Royal Oak releases a huge remix package from Deetron and the one and only Mr Fingers. Larry Heard takes things in a very different, but beautiful direction. His age [...]

8th birthdays are usually tremendous affairs. Cake, candles, balloons, presents, maybe a clown. No such frivolities for Phonica Records. Instead they booked out the normally wonderful 3-arched Great Suffolk Street Warehouse and pulled together one of the most impressive lineups South London has seen all year. With Matt Tolfrey's Leftroom arch playing host to both Benoit & Sergio and Visionquest, and the Phonica arch featuring Joy Orbison and Soul Clap , you'd think you'd have the night covered. But it was former-Phonica-employee Heidi who had, for us, the winning arch. [...]

Back on the 26th of September, two favorite producers of mine Deetron & Ripperton collaborated to bring us their newly created moniker Roots Panorama . The record is being presented to us by the French label, Versatile Records & is titled Threee. The original is nowhere to be seen but the release does have two solo Deetron mixes & a Ripperton mix. Below is a preview of the Deetron Beeetz mix, it really blurs the line between house & techno. If you digg what you hear, don't be shy to grab the [...]
It's a sunny day here in southern california and I've been relaxing pretty hard, so we're gonna keep today's post on the slower side of things... I've been bumping this one out of the speakers on my balcony all afternoon while I just stare off into the ocean. The way the synths wash over this track is really relaxing and almost tropical.
