March was an overwhelming month for good music, as we saw releases from a ton of awesome artists like Action Bronson, Big K.R.I.T., Curren$y and more. While a 16-song playlist doesn't do the month much justice, we tried our best to give you a summary of just how awesome it was. Expect to see new tracks from Bobby Womack, Swizz Beatz, Sene, DJ Spinna, Danny Brown, and more, on this mix that ticks in at just over an hour. DJ Spinna is one of the most underrated producers of all time. He turned out a great remix of Dela & Blu's "WhatUWanna" from Dela's Translation Lost album. I could really go for a full Blu/DJ Spinna project. Spinna is releasing his "WhatUWanna" remix on limited 73 color vinyl May 1st and Dela's Translation Lost album gets a double disc re-release May 15th. Stream the new "WhatUWanna" below:
Last year French producer Dela dropped off Translation Lost, an album that didn't quite get the attention it deserved. One of the reasons that it did get attention, though, was because of its multiple Blu features. Taking things to the next level, Dela sent a Blu assisted "WhatUWanna" to DJ Spinna, who flipped things around and took it back to the 'golden age' of hip-hop. This single will land on a limited edition 73 from Dela due out May 7.

French producer Dela showed us how he can speak volumes with [...]

The Word Is Bond continues it's annual mentions to the most noteworthy talents in hip-hop from 2011. Producers; whether forging the foundations for MC's to jump on, or crafting instrumentals to be enjoyed in their own form... 5. Exile Exile is undeniable. He could have maintained a strong reputation purely by continuing as one half of Emanon, but his presence behind the boards with some of hip-hop's game changing MC's in recent years has introduced his talents to a whole new audience. It's been a strong year of guest productions [...]

The Primeridian & Tall Black Guy - Darling Lure All Natural Inc.: 2011 It takes one listen to Primeridian & Tall Black Guy's debut Darling Lure to know they hail from the school De La, Pete, Tribe, and Dilla built. But while the aforementioned legends birthed production styles and songs that will bless headphones for as long as there is electricity, Darling Lure will not be as fortunate. The sound found on the thirteen tracks is neither stale, nor overly reverent, yet it does seem like it [...]

Dela - Translation Lost Drink Water Music: 2011 While Montreal/Paris-based producer Dela's sophomore release, Translation Lost , may suggest a disconnect of some sort, nothing could be further from the truth. Building on the success of his debut, Changes of Atmosphere , he returns with a record filled with hard-hitting drums balanced by refreshing melodies to create a hazy sound that is all his own. This time, Dela goes for self on six of the album's 13 tracks. This focus [...]

The highly acclaimed Paris/Montreal-based producer, Dela, is back with his sophomore album, following up on the brilliant "Changes of Atmosphere" with "Translation Lost." Changes of Atmosphere featured an eclectic mix of artists and Translation Lost is, thankfully, no different as Dela sets to display his versatility with varying beat styles and speeds on an album that is sure to please fans and newcomers alike. Dela stated on his website that he hadn't planned to release an album, however, after toying with an MPC 1000, a turntable and computer speakers, beats quickly accumulated and one thing led to another. [...]

Dela returns with his sophomore album full of dope collaborations & his signature slap. Dela produces schitt that I can feel. His Robert Glasper beat tape still gets stupid rotay round these parts so I support all things he does. Super solid sophomore release on this one! Good schitt sir! & respecognition to Drink Water Music for hooking up with him to bring his next opus to fruition. Peep two cuts from the album featuring the homie Blu. Dela [...]

It's tricky coming up with a sophomore album. One could say it's about taking the essence of your past work and bringing it to another level, without doing the same thing twice. With that in mind, Paris/Montreal based producer Dela teams up with Drink Water Music to deliver Translation Lost, the follow up to 20092s Changes Of Atmosphere. It started as a simple beat tape. Freshly installed in Montreal, where he was planning to put music on the side for a little while, it only took a couple weeks before Dela felt the need to put together [...]

After a few weeks of a great momentum, Dela's Translation Lost released yesterday, but not before highlighting one more cut featuring Blu . "Made this one around Feb 09 too. I had actually sent another beat to Blu (that I later reworked & used for a "I Will" remix). He wrote to it but on second thought he was like naah I don't know about this one. So I sent another beat and he sent back the recorded joint a few hours later. Initially [...]

Dela has a knack for making minimal beats that put you in a jazzy hip-hop type of trance. His idols, such as ATCQ , are responsbile for his overall vibe but ultimately he's able to create his own sound. You start to recognize when you are listening to a Dela beat without being told who it is. Now, we got a new leaked track called "Lucy's&LooseLeafs" from his upcoming album entitled Translation Lost. This makes his second official album and it dropped today. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Download: [...]
