Delicate Steve @ Subterranean From Chicago to Columbus to Austin, FP saw a lot of awesome shows in March. Today we continue our live music roundup for the month that was supposed to be warm but wasn't -except for the week we spent in the land of free beer and barbecue. Talib Kweli & Bun B, The Shrine, Chicago, 3/1 Bun B has regained his prominence this decade, thanks in part to his guest appearance on Killer Mike's " [...]

New Jersey experimental / instrumental outfit Delicate Steve put on a hypnotic and absolutely transcendent performance at PhilaMOCA last time they were in Philly, and local live session crew Out Of Town Films were on hand to record the sound check. The Luaka Bop artists are continuing to tour in support of 20122s phenomenal Positive Force LP ... Christian Peslak treated fans to a rare solo show for the Sound Dessert SXSW Day Party. If the name rings a bell, it's because the guitarist is a member of the (mostly) instrumental rock band, Delicate Steve. Peslak has an incredible side project called SaintRich (with Delicate Steve's Steve Marion), which takes a more bluesy direction and features Peslak on vocals - as showcased during his set. Delicate Steve booked a ton of shows for SXSW so it was especially amazing to have Christian squeeze in a solo gig on top of it. He's a true 'lone star' [...]

Before even reaching Boise’s downtown there was something different in the air for this year’s Treefort Music Festival . Namely, there were construction cranes cutting through the Boise skyline, a sight unseen for at least seven years. Most notable is the skyrise sprouting at the corner of 8th and Main Streets, a site previously referred to as The Boise Hole, for its ambitious plans for large development and subsequent loss of backing — it was literally a giant hole in the ground for more than 10 years, a downtown void for a decade, the mental presence of something larger, but [...]

This year's music lineup begins on Friday with a kickoff concert featuring Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Flaming Lips, and The Darkness. The rest of the weekend includes performances by Matt and Kim, Sharon Van Etten, Father John Misty, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, De La Soul, Lee Fields & the Expressions, Cults, Delicate Steve, The Soul Rebels, and [...]

Going to see Delicate Steve last night might be one of the best spur-of-the-moment decisions I have made in regards to live music. I had suspected that their music would be better appreciated live, but I was not expecting to get my socks blown the f*#k off. Â When describing the band to my plus one prior to the concert, I said, "It's weird, they are primarily instrumental but it always sounds like someone or something is singing...I think you will dig it." Â And check. The tiny, smoked out venue was more crowded than I had expected, and we [...]

Delicate Steve @ 4Knots Fest 2012 ( more by Chris La Putt ) Like nearly every notable musician in the universe, Delicate Steve is going to be playing at this year's SXSW Festival and has planned a tour around the occasion. The tour kicks off on March 1 at the Stanhope House in Stanhope, NJ and hits NYC a few days later for a show at 295 Kent on March 5 with Celestial Shore and Total Slacker . Advance tickets [...]

We're finally getting our favorite musicians of 2012 out there. Remixes & heavy sampling have made up most of the other best music of 2012 , but the rest of these are all originals (at least for the most part). I also decided to change it from 20122s best musicians to the most promising. They may be our favorite musicians of 2012, but they're probably all new to you - except Frank, Madeon & Miike maybe. Also remember, not every one of these may be your favorite style, but you'll [...]

Christian Peslak and Steve Marion of Delicate Steve have an amazing side project under the monkier SaintRich . A full length album is in the works, but for now the single "Sorry/Sadly" offers a taste of what to expect on the record. Christian takes the lead on vocals - and has the voice of an angel. While there's definitely traces of Delicate Steve, SaintRich veers into more bluesy territory. If you love Delicate Steve, you won't be disappointed! Hopefully more is on the way soon!

In March of 2012, Boise, Idaho made its first real foray into music festival hosting. Approached with the intention of showcasing emerging artists,  Treefort Music Fest  featured a slew of bands that call the PNW home and further legitimized itself with acts like Of Montreal, Why? and beloved Boise locals, Built To Spill. The inaugural festival was a resounding success  with first time event hiccups somewhere between nonexistent and unnoticed. It was four days of magic that left the city and visitors alike reeling with exhaustion and excitement akin to the aftermath of [...]

I can say what I want. I can say that Delicate Steve's layered harmonies give me a feeling that can't be classified as "good" or "bad." I can say that the New Jersey-bred group’s absence of lyrics puts it's music on a different level. That before listening to this group, I really didn’t appreciate modern ... Continue reading ’
