I might make this a regular monthly update on the blog this year and Irish bands aim to battle the recession by thinking of new ways to fund the release of an album. Here I talk about the ways Delorentos, El Hombre Jokes, Yngve & The Innocent, The Walls and The Pale are attempting to bring their sounds to the masses! Delorentos - Pop-Up Shops from @jamesvincentmcmorrow twitter [...]

Since the shenanigans surrounding their second album release, Delorentos have found everything they do framed by that certain part of their back story. It didn't help that, despite the promise of lead single 'S.E.C.R.E.T.', You Can Make Sound was not quite the record it could have been. Since its release, the band have maintained their position as the Irish indie band it's ok to like, before reappearing at the end of last year with a series of acoustic shows and an EP (complete with smart magazine) that offered the glimpse of a brave new dawn. [...]

Esse post dedico ao Ulysses Marins (@ulyssesmarins), ex-colaborador do site, que curte horrores a banda. Delorentos é uma banda sensacional da Irlanda formada em 2005. Já lançaram dois discos, "In Love WIth Detail", de 2007, e "You Can Make Sound", de 2009. Ambos merecem a conferida. Recentemente, lançaram o EP "Little Sparks", com quatro novas faixas [...]
Delorentos return to electric action in the new year with the release of their third album and a set of full band live dates following their recent acoustic shows. Little Sparks , released on January 27th, contains twelve tracks and was recorded with Mercury Music Prize Award Winner Rob Kirwan (PJ Harvey). The band play the following live shows in support: SAT FEB 25th – THE BUTTON FACTORY FRI MAR 2ND - DOLAN'S, LIMERICK SAT MAR 3RD – CYPRUS AVE, CORK THURS MAR 8th – JOHN DALY'S, MULLINGAR [...]
After working his magic on Lisa Hannigan, doing most of the videos for her new album, including my favourite 'Knots', Myles O'Reilly has turned his attention to Delorentos. They recently played a handful of acoustic shows around the country, including Triskel Christchurch in Cork, and above is an example of [Read more]

DELORENTOS are your PLAY IRISH artist this week! Jon Richards will be playing 'Did We Ever Really Try?' from the band's current EP 'Little Sparks' all week on Galway Bay FM @ 3.30 and as with every week you can listen to the song here by checking out the wonderful video for the song. I love the 'Little Sparks' EP and book which landed in my door today! It's only available at the band's gigs and well worth the cash! [...]
The one thing I don't do on the blog enough is to discuss the videos that can accompany a song or single from our wonderful artists. In the week when the MTV awards came to Belfast and went with only Gaga's outfit and Beiber's spunkiness the topic of trends here's the best new videos from Irish bands! [Tipping my cap to Nay at Harmless Noise who writes so eloquently about music videos and where I discover the best videos!] ----------------------- Rams Pocket Radio - Dieter Rams Has Got The [...]
It impressed us as a venue for the recent John Vanderslice gig and now the Unitarian Church on Stephen's Green in Dublin is going to pay host to three more live events. Elevens kick things off with an EP launch show on November 11th, followed by Delorentos on 25th and Halves (pictured and surely a band born to play such a venue) with special guests Jennifer Evans and the 3epkano string section on December 9th.
Delorentos make a welcome return with the first track off their forthcoming Little Sparks EP, 'Did We Ever Really Try?' sticks to a similar Delorentos formula, which isn't a bad thing because they know their way around an infectious chorus. And if you like to look at the band you'll [Read more]
Fresh from recording with Mercury Music Prize-winning producer Rob Kirwan (Bell X1, PJ Harvey, Editors, U2), Delorentos preview January's third album with the four track Little Sparks EP on 18th November. Rezlow have today released their debut single '7 Days' and it's a grower. The most remarkable thing about Rezlow's debut release is that it's only the second official single that singer Terry Sutton has sung on during his fifteen or so years as a Dublin troubadour. A chance meeting in 2008 lead Terry to the arms of Rezlow and now the band have music to listen to. For those readers old enough to remember Terry doing support to Damien Rice in the Olympia or [...]

Ryan Sheridan performed in Boyles, last night as part of his countrywide single tour promoting the radio hit 'Jigsaw'. The gig confirms that Ryan is a fantastic performer with superb vocals. Support for the gig was one half of Navan's hotly tipped rock band Red Queen Contest . Cormac and Paul takes turns with lead vocals and harmonise on many of the tracks. Their stripped down acoustic set really showcased their songwriting talents and hints at a superb debut album in the making. [...]

The intimate confines of The Workman's Club plays host to this the first of two Dublin dates on Delorentos' The Sanctuary Tour. Tying in with the release of 'Sanctuary' as the third single from the band's second album You Can Make Sound , the tour is Delorentos' biggest to date, taking them nationwide. The band have been very busy in recent months, with European dates and string of festival appearances over the summer - including a stellar set at Oxegen, which saw them very much hold their own against the might of Vampire Weekend who [...]
The second single from Delorentos' You Can Make Sound album gets a dramatic video treatment....

The critically acclaimed four-piece will be performing at the all-ages Halloween Festival at O'Moore Park in Portlaoise today and will follow that up with dates in Limerick, Waterford, Carrick-on-Shannon, Cork, Tipperary, Galway, Westport and Derry in a tour that spreads over the next
Enduring Irish band Delorentos release their second single from their second album You Can Make Sound.
