We were asking that question ourselves just a few short weeks ago. But that was until we got wind of Irish quartet DELORENTOS , it didn't take long for us to realize that we were sleeping on some fun times. Let's say you happened to wonder what a band that was a mixture of The Futureheads , Kaiser Chiefs , and We Are Scientists sounded like? Well the guys in Delorentos are taking a hard stab at finding out. They got tasty jams on their latest album In Love With The Detail [...]

Kieran from the Dublin band, Delorentos was sweet enough to send me some tracks off their latest album, In Love with Detail. What I really love about this band is their range—they can rock out, slow it down, and short of doing the hokey pokey and turn it all around, produce rock pop worthy of a road-trip sing-along. And they will be in New York this weekend for the Craic Festival at Mercury Lounge (update: tix are sold out :( This makes me sad even though I already know I can't make it.) Sadly, [...]

The Dublin Quartet 'Delorentos' drop in... How'd the four of you get together?... and the name "delorentos"? We got together about 3 or four years ago over a mutual love for music and gigging and started to write and play. Some of us had played with each other before and bumped into each other when our other starter bands had fallen apart. We chose the name delorentos cos we didn't want to have a "the" name or a name that already means something. We wanted something for us [...]

The Duke Spirit - photo As this year's SXSW Festival draws nearer, we'll be bringing you some highlights of a few of the many bands to look out for. Put these bands on your schedule if you're going, or on your radar if you're not. Delorentos are an impressive group of four young men from Dublin. The band have released a number of EPs and singles since 2005 but debuted their first full-length album, In Love With Detail [...]

I am starting to get a little more email than I am able to keep up with while I am in school [don't get me wrong, this is a problem that I like to have] so in fairness to all you struggling Keith Richards' and Thom Yorke's out there I will collect some of the songs that I received each week and put them into one post so you, Dear Reader, can enjoy them as you should. Enjoy. Art of the Week: The Finnish Embassy by Finnish [...]

Since rock and roll's advent there's been a steady stream of buxom babes ready and willing to hold down ½ of the standard rock band rhythm section of bass guitar and drums. We're not sure exactly what it is that seems to draw more women to the bass than any other instrument, but perhaps it was Carol Kaye , notable studio musician of the 1950s and 60s, and the person who played bass on... I have a mouse problem. Not the fuzzy, cheese-eating kind of mouse, but the gray, lifeless, and as of recently, not working mouse that is plugged into my USB cable. About a week or so ago it started saying we didn't have the appropriate hardware installed for the mouse and that our USB port can't recognize the device...needless to say it's made my blog browsing a bit of a challenge. Luckily we've got a laptop so we can finger-navigate the web long enough to bring you a great track by the Dublin indie-alt band Delorentos. [...]
There were only ever four real contenders for this once the voting started. The top four albums below trail-blazed from day one and the others all languished behind. This year almost 200 of you voted for 61 different Irish albums with 354 votes counted in total. That's three more albums than last year. This blogs championing of the number one album below has left me in a slightly awkward position but perhaps it was inevitable. No doubt, there will be a few cynics who discount the results as a canard but this was a public poll [...]
I'd be lying if I said the Delorentos were my thing, but I respect the hard work they've put in to get where they are now (even if that includes spamming newsletter signups way back when). Even though I'd been aware of their music for about four years, I only heard a tune of theirs recently. Anyway, the original of "Stop" is a pleasant catchy indie pop song, of the ilk that Phantom FM lap up. Being awkward, I of course prefer the Jape remix of said tune. What do ya think? [...]

Delorentos - Stop This is a weird little one. At first it seems more like a bag of tricks than a song, with a rhythm that switches between Franz Ferdinand and Arcade Fire, and a fiery-tempered "Hey!" that's not so much 'No Cars Go' as it is The Cars. But this is no bad thing: if Delorentos tried to be something they weren't (as the lyrics suggest) they'd fail, but here they're clearly comfortable, playing by gut rather than playing by ear, and though I really shouldn't like it for the fact that [...]

We've hit the motherload this Tunesday! Tracks for download for the next 7 days from Derry electro cats The Japanese Popstars , Dublin's Delorentos , electro indie-pop from Groom and the best ambient music from what I can only guess is the illegitimate love-child of Brian Eno and Richard D. James; newcomer Brian Robinson . (more...)

01. Ford And Fitzroy - " The Weatherman's Refrain " . It opens with an Explosions In The Sky -esque single-notes guitar riff then launches in with the lyric of the fortnight (" it was filled with B-flats and with F's "). If you'd do dig this at first, let it sink into it. It crawls into my head constantly (and I love those great bass runs). " And when, when he's feeling lonely, he remembers the [...]

I Saw a Live Show and it Was Great! I really never, or almost never, well quite rarely, repeat the same artists, but I've just been listening to the new record by the Delorentos and it is fabulous! So so so so good! They will be huge! So, even though they were Monday's SOD, here they are again. They are tuneful and charming, hugely clever songwriters, and full of energy and boundless pop fun. And I want you to say that you heard them here first! Now I'm going to really date [...]
Found in my Inbox The Delorentos are a spunky quartet out of Dublin that will be playing this Thursday at Sin-é and later at SXSW. They really have a charming quality and an unusually diverse sound that walks a nice line between poppy and indie while avoiding most of the annoying senses of either. Basis of Everything [...]
[mp3] any other way - delorentos wait for the electric guitar to kick in one-minute in. from the self-financed e.p. leave it on [buy] . [mp3] neon - delorentos acoustic version. dublin-based delorentos is your cognoscenti approved pick for the craic fest in nyc this week. we admit that delorentos sound a little bit like a lot of bands on the scene today. and yesterday. and yester-80s-decade-day. but they have a few things going for them: a great live rep in ireland. (they [...]

Two or three times a week I'll get a friend request from a band on myspace. I rarely add them, but I always give them a listen. Ninety-nine percent of the time they're terrible. But I've yet to turn on the "block band requests" feature because I figured someday I might get a request from a really good band I might not have discovered otherwise. Last night it finally happened. Delorentos is a foursome from Dublin that play angular indie rock that is [...]
