Liverpool Sound City 2013: Martin’s Day 3 Roundup

Liverpool Sound City 2013: Martin’s Day 3 Roundup Bands of the day: Goonam, Ilona, Night Engine Venue of the day: Mello Mello The previous two days of Liverpool Sound City 2013 had seen the music kick off around 6 PM, but as a special Saturday treat, the Korean delegation arranged a showcase at the Kazimier Gardens from the unearthly hour of 2 PM. As well as showcasing four of the country’s finest bands, there was a delicious and in-no-way-an-incentive-to-turn -up spread of native Korean food and drink. [...]

Liverpool Sound City 2013: Mary’s Day 3 Roundup

Liverpool Sound City 2013: Mary’s Day 3 Roundup Third day at Sound City 2013 , and I was flagging. Martin made the perfect suggestion that we should check out the Korean bands day showcase, where there would also be free food and booze on offer. Besides, I'd not been to the Kazimier Gardens yet, which both him and John had waxed philosophical on their home brew and laid-back atmosphere. Afternoon sorted then. I didn't photograph any of the bands, as we had Martin with us there, so check out his review of day 3 for those. What I mostly [...]

Liverpool Sound City 2013: John’s Day 3 Roundup

Header photo by TGTF Head Photographer Martin Sharman Saturday’s frivolities at Sound City 2013 began at the naturally striking Kazimier Gardens, where the Korean day showcase was taking place. You can hear about and see great photos of the bands from Martin, but for one, the food and atmosphere was exactly what you wanted at around three in the afternoon, when your football team has just been mercilessly relegated from the Championship (yes, I’m bitter). That being that the booze was gently flowing, the sun was beating [...]

Delphic. Clark, Koko.

It's a bad wind that don't blow somebody some good, or so the hackneyed old adage goes and so it seems on a blustery Camden eve for Barry – the solitary inhabitant of a nearby phone box perma-clad in sunglasses even at this, the death of night. He's his eight cans of Special Brew, and a wicked tongue with which to lap them up – a devilish flicker of beard protruding forth form his chinny chin chin. It's hideously chilly out as we draw close to midnight, and yet there's an inexhaustible hope hidden deep within him as he spacks [...]

Disco: Delphic – Collections

Delphic – Baiya (Shadow Child Remix)

Delphic – Baiya (Shadow Child Remix) Shadow Child AKA Dave Spoon is one of the rising stars to watch, using his new alias as a means to put across music without being judged by his original tunes under Dave Spoon. Could the fact that he is managed by the same agency that represents Swedish House Mafia be a sign that the people in the inside of the industry are thinking that this UK house scene is the next big thing? We'll have to wait and see. Download Free Here No related posts.

Delphic: Collections

Delphic: Collections Delphic: Collections - This week I decided to listen to something that would keep me awake, something lively, fun, and easy on the brain. Delphic ’s latest release, Collections , served as that avenue to my satisfaction, or at least it seemed to at the time. This is the trio’s second album release since Acolyte in 2009, and it feels as though they’re really starting to settle into their own sound. Throughout my sampling I could pick out little things from each song that reminded me of other artists [...]

On the Horizon: Qtie Alright, Qtier.

Breeze past the inexpressible band name, and London trio Qtier are a quite singular, strongly positioned proposition. Like a calmed Darkstar, or Delphic rewired to incorporate even a smidgen of subtlety Kind is as yet their coup – a cushioning gauze of intricately manipulated electronics and intimate vocals that's delicate as gossamer, yet still pulsating as much of Pantha du Prince's estimable kingdom of a back catalogue. It's a keeper, and one which can be kept and indeed treasured once Bad Life get around to releasing the band's as yet untitled second EP, presumably around the [...]

REMIXED: Delphic Pay Tribute To Amy Winehouse’s “Rehab”

REMIXED: Delphic Pay Tribute To Amy Winehouse’s “Rehab” Brit band Delphic paid tribute to the late Amy Winehouse by uploading their 2013 update of "Rehab" on Soundcloud a few days ago. It's a blog-happy trap beat exercise that takes some fun turns during its 5-minute span, and is bound to go down well at house parties. This reminds me how I used to be obsessed with their massive tune "Halcyon" back in 2010, and that I still need to listen to their new follow-up. Grab a free download of the remix below, and check out the video for [...]

MP3(s) of the Day #742: Delphic

Manchester's Delphic are at it again with the latest in a string of confounding actions. In January it was the less than wowing release of 'Collections'. The latest? They've taken 'Rehab' by late cult soul singer Amy Winehouse of the pop genre they've professed to love so much and remixed it. Seems as random as the time they covered Cheryl Cole's '3 Words' in the Radio1 Live Lounge. I'm not a fan of Winehouse, but I'm wondering, was this really necessary? [...]

Premiere: Delphic X Amy ‘Rehab’ Free Download

To celebrate the start of their European tour, Manchester trio Delphic are giving away a special tribute they made to celebrate late great Amy Winehouse, and her seminal track 'Rehab'. Delphic's tribute doesn't run rough-shot over a classic, but instead tastefully gives the track a new lease of life combining pitched vocals, trap percussion and leftfield synth pop stabs. As well as that, the trio have put together a new mixtape of dance music that ranges from odds and sods from the bass movement to full-fat electronic bangers. [...]

Phoenix – Entertainment

Delphic’s New Album “Collections” Is Now Available On Kitsuné!

Delphic - Introducing 'Collections'
The delicious Delphic have just released their new album "Collections" on Kitsuné in France! Available on iTunes! This Manchester rock'n'electro trio formed in 2009 and composed of the young Richard Boardman, Matt Cocksedge and James Cook, knows how to create a delicate balance of euphoria and despair, placing itself between the best of modern day pop to the [...]

Delphic – Collections

Delphic – Collections By David Beech February 06, 2013 After the break-up of their previous band Snowfight In the City Center , guitarist Matt Cocksedge and multi-instrumentalist Richard Boardman , both bored with the guitar driven sound of the aforementioned band, decided they wanted to make music that people could dance to, thus recruiting singer James Cook and (live) drummer Dan Therman and laying the ground work for what would become Delphic. Inspired by the Madchester scene and Peter Hook's New [...]

Album Review: Delphic – Collections

Album Review: Delphic – Collections "Underwhelming and uninspired, Delphic fall prey to the infamous ‘Second Album Syndrome’..." Delphic  |  Collections After bursting onto the alternate scene in 2009 with debut album Alcolyte ,  Mancunian trio Delphic returned to the studio to record their effort, hoping to recapture the intricacy and subtle tones of its’ predecessor. Delphic won so many admirers with their fresh, enchanting sound that Collections was always going to be under a great amount of pressure to live up to such high expectations.  Regrettably, the album is unable to contend its’ older brother as it drifts [...]

Delphic - Collections

Delphic - Collections Delphic posted a very telling interview on their website in the wake of releasing ‘Collections’, the band’s second album. Their debut ‘Acolyte’ (released in 2009) was a reaction against “NME guitar bands”, an album that was “heavily dance influenced and featured euphoric builds set to hooky melodies”. Though underappreciated by the mainstream, ‘Acolyte’ certainly lived up to these claims. Yet, in the band’s own words, with ‘Collections’ “we have changed quite drastically…we had to rebel against ourselves and against the current trend”. [...]

Adam Green & Binki Shapiro - Here I Am
Adam Green & Binki Shapiro – Adam Green & Binki Shapiro [Rounder/Decca] Ele é metade do Moldy Peaches e ela um terço do Little Joy .
