This weekend marks the inaugural run for Atlanta's brand new Shaky Knees Festival , and I'm stoked to be there to experience it! The two day festival will be held in a newly completed park next to a prominent Atlanta music venue, The Masquerade . The schedule and lineup is a bit light compared to other festival heavy-hitters ( Bonnaroo, Sasquatch, Hangout ), but for a first year festival, the lineup is pretty amazing. The schedule is 12-11 Saturday, May 4, and 12-10 Sunday, May 5. Nearly every act scheduled to [...]

Spring has sprung, and I for one am ecstatic. I'm ready to shed my coat in favor of tank tops, and don strappy sandals instead of boots. But for some, spring's arrival isn't as welcome. It signals our slow-but-steady entry into 100+ degree temperatureland, and even the promise of sno-cones and watering holes can't subside that fear. Alas, there are some songs that just put me in a happy mood, giving me that extra spring in my step, in more ways than one. (Forgive me, they can't all be winners). I've got an upbeat playlist that's sure to help you [...]

It's been a while since we've heard anything new from Delta Spirit, but this past week has been big for the group - releasing two music videos, one which for their brand new song. "Running" was written specifically for the AMC drama "The Walking Dead" and honestly, it sounds like it would be a perfect fit. It's a slow moving arrangement, which suits the show perfectly.

I was first introduced to Delta Spirit by a friend of mine while chilling outside with a group of friends on a beautiful evening passing around a hookah. In hindsight, I can't think of an environment much more perfect than that to have discovered one of my favorite new indie bands . Yamaha is the closing song on Delta Spirit's most recently released (March 13th) self-titled album with Rounder Records . The inspiration for Yamaha stems from the hardships faced while the band [...]

Delta Spirit has released a video for "Yamaha," a track found on their most recent self-titled LP. It serves as somewhat as a tour documentary as front man Matt Vasquez shot the entire video throughout their latest run of U.S. shows. If you've ever been looking for some insight into what all goes on during a Delta Spirit tour, well, here's you chance to find out.

Delta Spirit released their official tour video for "Yamaha" this week. The clip was shot and edited by the bands own Matt Vasquez . Check out the clip below. Also, the band wrote a song for The Walking Dead titled, "Running". It can be found on The Walking Dead Original Soundtrack, Vol. 1 .
Some cracking videos for some cracking songs today. Delta Spirit have offered up their video for Yamaha and Sad Baby Wolf have a live performance of their cover of a Jesus & Mary Chain classic. Singer-songwriter Sam Sallon's animated video for You May Not Mean To Hurt Me (But You Do) is well worth watching, and The Whispering Tree's video for Where Have You Gone comes from their forthcoming Escape EP.
Good morning, folks! Here is a collection of songs that range from toe-tappers to contemplation kindlers. If 8tracks is working correctly the playlist should have a nice flow to it. If not, well, I think you can deal with it.

HT faves Umphrey's McGee will return to headline Red Rocks in Morrison, Colorado on June 7th, but instead of the more jam-centric co-bills of years past, this year they're bringing Americana acts Dr. Dog and Delta Spirit to round out the lineup. In addition, UM will play the Chautauqua Auditorium in Boulder on June 8th. A pre-sale for VIP packages tickets to the two shows will take place on Wednesday, February 27th, at 10am MT/11am CT via UMTicketing . The Chautauqua general [...]

In the style of Bob Dylan , Delta Spirit has made it clear they don't take kindly to being pigeon-holed. They are not an Americana or roots-rock band. But, you can't really blame the critics for labeling them as such after their debut album, Ode to Sunshine . Recorded live in a cabin in Julian, CA and released independently shortly thereafter. But, when the band's raw spirit and palpable passion reached the ears of the fine folks at Rounder Records , home to Alison Krauss and once home to the late Woody Guthrie, [...]
Big Day Out is typically a festival I avoid like the plague. The crowds alone are enough to put a fella off catching the host of great bands they get to play, but this year they nailed the lineup so hardcore that I couldn't resist. The lineup boasted some of the biggest named indie acts of the last 10 years: Band of Horses, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Foals, The Killers, Vampire Weekend were some of the huge names that graced Gold Coast Parklands on a steamy Sunday mid January. [...]

Austin City Limits is amazing week in and week out as it is, but when one of my favorites hits the stage for the 30 minute showcase, it always seems to capture something special that gives me a brand new appreciation for the music and the artists I admire (one previous example: John Prine's 2006 appearance when he introduced me to Blaze Foley's "Clay Pigeons." This weekend's premier episode with Delta Spirit and Bob Mould brought that same type of moment for me when Matt Vasquez (of Delta Spirit) introduced and sang the [...]
Austin City Limits doesn't care what genre a band is associated with, they care whether your band makes good music. With that in mind, this weekend's episode of the longest-running music TV show features two acts from completely different realms - Delta Spirit and Bob Mould. Friday, January 25 [All Times ET] My Morning Jacket on Storytellers [Palladia 9PM] Soundgarden on David Letterman [CBS 11:35PM] The Grascals on Jay Leno [NBC [...]
