As one half of Demdike Stare , Miles Whittaker already has an ear for jarring, rhythmic pulse. Venturing off for his newest side solo-venture, Whittaker has produced the earthly, bruising Faint Hearted LP, that's fairly apt to the name. The tracks range from crushing industrial drone to modern twinged German electro-house, with plenty of shaking personality split in between. Demdike Stare have returned with the start of a new series titled Testpressing , serving as an output for the duo's more 'unusual releases'. With a penchant for noise and jungle, Testpressing#001 is a hellish ride of clamour and destructive dischord. A-side "Collision" begins with a penetrating, screeching wail from a wall of distorted frequencies, whilst in the background a series of irregular beats and clanks are slowly accumulated and reordered until they resemble a full on jungle interpretation. Athens' one and (quite possibly) only industrial electronica duo .message may not have the most SEOptimised, nor emphatic of monikers although Murky Pash is undoubtedly one to get dark hearts racing. A grim lurch of creaky doom, portentous breaks and drops, and gnarly synth grunts it's almost Grecian in its great monumentalism as it rises to crumble over four thoroughly compelling minutes to recall Demdike Stare , had the London pairing been inspired by slo-mo trance and not occult transcendency.
