Don't panic everybody. I'm back. I've got an inconsistently speedy internet connection, a pocket full of dreams and disco musix for the masses. Let's get some HD cat videos up in this mo'fucker! I've kind of forgotten how to blog so I'll stall for a bit. What's been happening with you cats? Working hard and drinking harder? Gosh, I sure can empathise with that one. No but seriously, let's get down to business. I'll start off with a couple of things that I wanted to put into that last Delishcast and, in the end, just couldn't quite [...]
In 1966, in the wake of the critical acclaim from the masterpiece Pet Sounds , and coasting on the fame and fortune he'd earned for single-handedly competing with the entire nation of England for two whole years, Brian Wilson boasted to the press that the next Beach Boys album would be better still, grandiose beyond reckoning, as evolved from Pet Sounds as Pet Sounds had been from its predecessor, the goofy Beach Boys Party! album. Finally on November 1, 2011, we'll be getting the official, Capitol Records, Mike-and-Al-sanctioned confirmation that he [...]

It's quite amazing to think that seminal prog-rock act Rush has sold over 40 million records worldwide, yet they continue to get shown the cold shoulder by the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame selection committee. The Canadian-based power trio , who recently went indie moving from Atlantic to Roadrunner Records, have announced that they will release three separate six-disc box sets, that focus on the Mercury Records years, which ran from their 1974 self-titled debut through 19882s Show of Hands , that they've dubbed Sector. Each set, which all will hit stores on November [...]

Aaron Eckhart ( Erin Brockovich, Thank You For Smoking ) has officially signed on to portray Beach Boy Dennis Wilson in the upcoming biopic, The Drummer .
I am all about recycling, upcycling, composting… anything that reuses materials that are already on this earth. If a friend wants to use jeans for insulation or to make a quilt out of old clothes, I will be over in an instant! But recycling music? I was not keen on this idea until I heard [...]
The guys in the Allah-Las (one of my favorite new bands from L.A. who I'll be writing about at length shortly) just hipped me to this video for Dennis Wilson's "Lady" aka "Fallin' In Love" from 1970. According to Beach Boys lore the song was originally intended for use on the the album that became [...]

Say what you want about Earth Day but awareness and appreciation for the Earth's natural environment is pretty much a no-brainer. It's not about green corporate logos or throwing the wrapper for your Big Mac into the trashcan (instead of out your car window). It's about doing your part to keep this little blue ball we live on beautiful and thriving. We at MOR like oxygen, green leaves and clean water as much as the next guy so we've put together a playlist of songs appropriate for this special day. Break out your bicycle, put on the headphones [...]

tricia rosensohn [Club Pacific mix by Farmer Dave, Turquoise Wisdom and Chris Ziegler coming later today!] Farmer Dave is known and loved for his music, his collaborations (with everyone from Elvis Costello to dios malos) and his homemade Hot Nuts, which you can purchase anywhere people seriously know what's up. And now he's starting a night of his own in his new hometown of Venice, taking over an underground '20s speakeasy once a month for F.D.'s Club Pacific. [...]
Cass McCombs' fifth full-length, Wit's End, is a natural progression. His early material showcased an infatuation for intricately produced psych-rock, never becoming indulgent enough to be fetishized because they were presented in a distinctive singer/songwriter format. His songs have always sounded alarmingly personal, even if the degree of distortion and pounding hooks prevented his lyrical [...]

Goodbye Red Volvo, I remember the day I first met you. Your previous owner sitting across from me at a table at the Ritz Diner in New Jersey, biting round Oxycontin tablets in half and discarding the remainders in an ashtray. You could still smoke in public in those days. You sat alone on the side of the parking lot next to the neighboring dance studio, all…red, and…red, quite frankly I didn't notice anything about you that struck me one way or another on that morning. Just that you were red, and I was ambivalent about driving a car that [...]

Christopher Owens reached indie-rock gold by the end of last year. After steadily putting out a handful of singles throughout the year - "Hellhole Ratrace" in July and "Lust for Life" in September - he released Girls' debut full-length, Album, to nonstop acclaim. A year-end list felt invalid without Girls' laudable effort reaching the top [...]
The Beach Boys - "You're Welcome" MP3/download [holy GOD listen to this now!] Emeralds - "Magic" from Solar Bridge MP3/download You've probably read more hype-laden copy about The Beach Boys' Smile album - also known as Smiley Smile, which is often sold in tandem with Wild Honey - than you can stand; I'm not here [...]

With 2010 marking the 40th anniversary of Jimi Hendrix's death, fans in the UK will be able to get a intimate glimpse of his life in swinging London as part of the Hendrix In Britain exhibit at the Handel House Museum . As an added bonus fans will be able to tour the two-floor apartment that Hendrix lived in at 23 Brook Street from September [...]

Filed under: News , Movies Dean O. Torrance, Kittyhawk Graphics A film about the life of Beach Boys drummer Dennis Wilson , who drowned in Marina Del Rey in 1983, is reportedly in pre-production. Today we're going to pull out a record from my own collection - Holland , the 1973 album from the Beach Boys, one of my favorites from the band. By the early 1970s, the days of hit singles (and even hit albums) were behind the Beach Boys, mainly because Brian Wilson's control of the band had dissipated as he faded into a haze of drugs and mental illness. The band's manager (Jack Rieley, who also wrote lyrics for some of the Beach Boys' music) suggested the group cut an album in Holland in hopes that a change [...]

I´m reading Juliet, Naked at the moment, which is quite hard to put down. Really should get busy to bring you edition 16 of Wild Weekend now... Ok, ok, here goes. The iPod´s on shuffle once again, and a surprise six pack in the works. No songs from Nick Hornby´s rockstar hero Tucker Crowe alas, but a whole lot of other goodies nonetheless. Such as Fallin´ In Love by American Spring, a Brian Wilson produced pop gem from ´73. Penned by Beach Boys brother and drummer [...]

Ryan (StopMe): My God it's been a long time since I did a TEN4SE7EN (Work commitments being the excuse). I've missed it and hopefully this post will be the first of many: On a trip to HMV I found they were selling last year's über-deluxe Chris Rea triple-cd/double-vinyl/book 'The Return Of The Fabulous Hofner Bluenotes' for the insane price of £8 English pounds. I'm never really listened to the guy before but at that price it was worth a punt. It's chock full of classy Blues numbers and clever Shadows tributes. The smouldering [...]
