Drunk Music Review is Caitlin Behle and John Sebastian. Caitlin reviews a show while progressively getting drunker, while illustrator John Sebastian turns the drunken reviews, which could be ridiculous, sloppy or just plain insulting, into a comic. Notes: The captions that end with the hashtag #DrunkMusicReview were pulled from Twitter during the show. Also, the chart at the bottom of every illustration shows the drink tallies for the night. When John Sebastian and I wrote our first Drunk Music Review in October 2011 , we thought [...]
Yesterday was a perfect day. It was warm and sunny and the morning was filled with the sounds of bird songs the way spring mornings are. I did all the outside chores I'd been holding off until the weather got warmer. My new palm tree was assembled, put on the deck and lit up last night. My neighbors phoned and said they were thrilled to see it. They called it iconic and likened the tree to the Citco sign at Fenway. This new palm tree is taller than the old. Some of my friends used to have to duck under [...]

Whoa-ho-ho, there. Looking to rock out once more time before X-mas day? Here's our abridged Holiday version of Weekend Diversions that'll no doubt bring you yuletide cheer. FRIDAY THE BINGERS They look like such nice young men... is what I assume many grandmothers say about Chicago trio The Bingers due to their penchant for dressing up in suits and ties. Despite all appearances the band has no problem getting down and dirty with super fuzzed-up [...]

Dpony - Desert of Calculations More of an art project than a 'band' and more of a 'film' than an album, this Hooray for Earth side project is actually an entire experimental movie. When Noel Heroux , Zambri's Seth Kasper, Josh Ascalon + Johnny Woods teamed up to make a record, I suppose the logical thing to do was to craft this visual piece and, why not, release it on VHS tape ! Of course, if you're without the old player, you can always do it the modern way and download [...]

Mansions On The Moon dropped part 1 of the next 5 releases off their Lightworks freEP, with a really synth driven track called, "Desert." For this last EP Ted, Lane, and Ben were in the lab with Pharrell who helped produce the entire project. These guys were already putting out really solid material, but things are about to jump to the next level. Download: Mansions On The Moon - "Desert"
Last year (and the year before) I got way too busy with this thing called life and missed out on a lot of quality music. I am here to rectify the error of my ways, month by month. Sorry for the delay. Been extra busy writing books, covering film festivals for Bloody Disgusting, and watching zee American [...]

Words // Adam Sharp Scott did a little 'catch-up' post last week, and I figured I should probably do the same since it's been awhile since I've shown my face (or, you know, my name) around here. Just because I haven't recommended anything recently doesn't mean there hasn't been anything worth listening to. Here's what I've been into lately. 'Highway Cars' - Desert Noises These kids (seriously, they all look [...]
Grails - Predestination Blues (by The Fact Facer ) I told you I was on an Emil Amos tip today.
Om - Cremation Ghat I & II (by terabyte23 ) Live 2010-12-18 @ Doug Fir Lounge, Portland, OR with Robert A. Lowe aka Lichens.
The first moment that we heard rumblings of a new M83 release, we were excited. Very excited indeed. It'd been three years since the apparition of Saturdays = Youth , the last album and so the news of new M83 sounds to come was very, very welcome indeed. The next update informed us that this latest release would be a double album, resulting in further heightening of our excitement. When the first track, 'Midnight City' appeared for our aural consumption, the anticipation hit unbearable heights as the striking synths dug deep into our psyches, [...]

Today's Live Performance, a whopping 2 hours and 14 minutes of Jean Michel Jarre Live in the Moroccon Desert, surrounded by loads of native African/Arabian musicians, so I guess one could and probably should call it "Electro-Meets-World-Music", all in HD with excellent video and audio. "Water for Life" was the theme UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Jean Michel Jarre chose for an exceptional concert among the sand dunes in Merzouga in Morocco on 16 December 2006, organized with the support of the Kingdom of Morocco and held under the auspices of UNESCO. The [...]
Filed under: Video , Exclusive , New Music , New Releases WMG On a recent tour, the synth-pop foursome SPEAK undertook a 16-hour drive from their hometown of Austin to Los Angeles. The trip took them through Texas hill country and scenic Southwestern desert -- environments just right, they figured, for filming a cover of Neil Young 's 'Tell Me Why.' As drummer Jake Stewart explains, the group had been [...]
