One of the strangest ADD-type things I suffer from is finding a fitting desktop wallpaper for my computer. I hate desktop clutter, which is pretty much why I hate Windows - tell me why I can't move the trashcan off the desktop in 2011? - aside from other reasons. Anyways, it feels like I'm always changing my desktop image because I can never find one that is unobtrusive enough or soothing, or mostly, just something I can ignore. Thankfully, I recently discovered Simple Desktops , which is a "a collection of desktop wallpapers curated by Tom Watson [...]
Given the volume of music available for consideration on One Track Mind, we invariably have to pass on a lot of tasty morsels. [tweetmeme] In a desire to share even more great, free music with you, the Sunday Sampler offers a handful of tracks without the usual critical and biographical write-up. Less talk, more tunes. Nice Purse "Heart Medley" from Black Medal [ released 8/10 | indie-pop ] [ download [...]
Electronic pop duo Desktop hail from Detroit and share a member with Electric Six (Keith Thompson, who joins Zach Curd here for this band), compile music that's as winsome as it is engrossing and maybe have one of those tremendous band names that you can never forget. Going with the one of the stock wallpaper options on your phone, computer or iPad doesn't say...
Desktop is a new electropop duo you should know about. One member is from the band Electric Six and the other has worked in The Pop Project. Their music sounds like it, too. These guys have some sweet drum machine action going on, and there's only 200 vinyl copies of their debut EP. That's rare. Download, stream, and buy the three tracks from the EP over here:desktopjams.org
"Ten Strikes" is the new single from O'Spada which sounds very similar to their previous one "Time". Thankfully, Keith Thompson & Zach Curd of Desktop stepped in... **Summary** Go to website for downloads, videos & more.

Isn't it funny how "My Boo" , a thirteen year old R&B/ booty bass cut performed by an act a majority of folks (minus bloggers of course) probably wouldn't be able to name without some Google aid, has suddenly turned into one of the most covered/ re-tooled tracks of '09? Following DJ Solly's chopped-up re-working of the Ghost Town DJ's single (posted here back in July), the past few weeks has seen a few other new takes off "Boo" bubble their way to front pages all across the blog patch, and un-surprisingly, we heart every single one [...]

Introducing DESKTOP. So they're like these two guys, Zach Curd and Keith Thompson who make music. Keith is such an Aussie name, except these dudes are from the U.S of A. Disappointing. But unlike most things American these guys aren't absolutely annoying or crap. Plus they hail from Detroit - instant coolness. This isn't Zach and [...]

Desktop is Keith Thompson from Electric Six ( Gay Bar !) and Zach Kurd from The Pop Project , a ' stevie wonder, new order and 80's detroit techno ' fuse-jam. Pulling gushy electronic chords and a never ending chant assault Desktop are a unique pop experience. 'Fired Up' is off the debut EP made completely via the world wide web (the two never actually worked in the same room) and marks sneaky progression.. leaving you to think the lick was over come 2:40 only to roar back with plenty of snare and glassy [...]
Desktop is Keith Thompson from Electric Six & Zach Curd from The Pop Project. Desktop is unlike Curd's & Thompson's other projects, meeting somewhere between Stevie Wonder, New Order... **Summary** Go to website for downloads, videos & more.
If you hadn't guessed already I've got a soft spot in my heart for the blips and bleeps of the current generation of electronic indie pop. Detroit duo Desktop bring blips, bleeps, swooshing synths, atmospheric guitars and enough pop sensibility to make this all too brief EP an easy sell. Think of it as dance music at a time when we could all could use a reason to ignore our concerns and just dance. "Liberty" leads off the set with its quirky '80s techno leanings. "Fired Up" is the funkiest of the bunch with a driving beat a [...]
Download audio file (Desktop-TooMuch.mp3) Desktop - "Too Much" "Too Much" opens like the kind of mannered micro-soul slowburner you've probably come to associate with Junior Boys - a deep plunge of gleaming synths, percolating hi-hats, and a taut guitar note nervously ticking just under the surface. But while JB's Begone Dull Care from earlier this year settled [...]
Trying out a new way of doing Bands to Watch features, let us know if you prefer this way or not! Today, our 130th Band to Watch, Desktop . They say: Desktop is Keith Thompson from Electric Six and Zach Curd from The Pop Project, and is unlike Curd's and Thompson's other projects, meeting somewhere between Stevie Wonder, New Order and 80s Detroit techno. Thompson's thick and driving bass lines and Curd's rich, reverb-drenched harmonies stand out as highlights of their debut self-titled EP. The [...]
