I'm not even going to make an excuse. My list of mixes and tunes really range across a huge spectrum of forward thinking music on this week's edition of Weekly Flavours. The choice cuts range from dreamy rnb stylings from Kaytranada and all the way to acid-inspired, dark trap music... The post Weekly Flavours [010] [Future Bass] appeared first on Noise Collective .

I must profess I hadn't heard of Warsnare before Seclusiasis big cheese Dev79 sent me his new EP, but one thing's for sure: 'Brutalist' is set to be one of 20132s finest releases. Opening with 'Murderous Times', a beautifully melancholic ode to the slowly dying planet with vocals from Fille De La Lune, 'Brutalist' packs a hell of a punch. At times mellow, at others upbeat and energetic, this EP draws on a hell of a lot of influences with a very dense production. There's so [...]

Seclusiasis and its grime-focused counterpart Slit Jockey have been entwined since day one, with cross-pollination being an integral part of their mission statement. However, it's only in the last year or so that the two labels have really stepped up their collaboration with the Seclus Jockey series becoming more prolific than ever. The Seclus Jockey series of free mp3 singles bridges the gap between the street bass sound of Seclusiasis and the gritty 8 bar grime pedaled by Slit Jockey. The last free single was a collaborative outtake between Starkey and [...]
Philadelphia-based electronic label Slit Jockey Records has been around since 2005, bumping the ever-changing sounds of the UK and EU electronic dance music underground with DJ nights, mixtapes and a loose collective of collaborators. The new Choice Cuts 2, released today, collects many of those folks together for a bass-heavy throwdown, including label founders Starkey ... Continue reading

Another past KOTJ contributor, Dev79 recently dropped this little beauty and it's possibly the most laid back release he's put out in a while. Whatever you're expecting, you're not even close. The title track 'Sweating At The Seams' is a full-bodied house number with squelchy synths and a well-rounded bassline to keep it driving. Followed by the already well-received 'No Place To Go', these first two tracks hint at an exciting new direction for the Seclusiasis and Slit Jockey boss. If I could describe 'No Place To Go' [...]

First off, if you missed the Street Bass Anthems 5 yellow wristband deal, don't trip - they got purple jawns out now. All this month Seclusiasis have been running a competition with Juno Download offering budding producers to remix DNAEBEATS ' 'Red Curry Popsicle', taken from the new album 'Tangled In Technology'. I'm sure I don't need to explain to you how big an opportunity this is, but I will anyway. DNAEBEATS' credentials are second to none, gaining plaudits as tour DJ for The Gift Of Gab's (Blackalicious) Escape To Mars, he's also worked with the likes of MF Grimm, Quannum Projects, Psalm One, Mistah FAB as well as the mighty [...]

It's been just a couple of days since Dev79 told us all about Philadelphia and what it means to him. Well, it seems only right that I tell you about his new EP for Made In Glitch and what it means to me. As the name suggests, 'Some Smut Only Comes Around Once' is pretty filthy (see 'Proper Gagging'). But that's not to say he's sacrificed substance on this one, finding the sweet spot between bass, house and glitch with just the faintest hint of R&B. [...]

Philly is ace cuz it's raw like that. It's a gritty, grimey city that loves to hate. Add to that the talent pool here is on some bonkers shit. So many crazy talented musicians and artists here that are straight murking shit. Yet getting shine here is often serious battle. Which is why you often see Philadelphia artists seek recognition elsewhere. The last few years I've felt a bit more of an appreciative vibe within the city, which is great and I hope that continues so we can have a better self-nurtured scene. I've [...]

I've been sitting on this one for a while in case of a day like today. Since I haven't posted any mp3s for you today, here's one the lovely Dev79 sent me. Tagged: Dev79 , Jammer , Lord Of The Mics Allstars

You can grab this Dev79 raw chop'n'screw'n'street'n'bass'n 'grime remix on Absorb 's free EP " I'll Bring It " alongside 3 others remixes by Terror Danjah, Unit27 and Starkey. Check it out HERE !

"Emo purple future bass". There's a collection of words you don't see together very often. Well, apparently it's the style of music Sonkin created when he remixed Dev79 's new collaborative single with Thrills . The new remix marks the return of the series of free mp3s released by Seclusiasis and Slit Jockey . It's been a while since the first installment so I'm sure I'm not alone in celebrating its return. The original track 'Hey Low' is taken from the upcoming Dev79 & Thrills [...]
