by PhotogMusic.com

The Polymorphines is a Ottawa garage rock band that has been together since 2008 July 30th will be a special night at Mavericks. They are releasing The Slip EP after touring on their widely praised album Transistor Sistor in 2010 (Get Bent Records ). Having recorded the soon to be released The Slip EP with Tim Kerr (Mudhoney, Big Boys) in Austin, Texas in Winter 2011, the boys brought chaos and debauchery to all 10 American dates they headlined in their first Southern States tour this past Spring. The four-member group has gotten tighter, making [...]

by Midday Procrastination

Texas natives Harlem continue to their North American tour by playing tonight at the Green Room in Montreal. I won't be able to make it because of the glory of the United States, 1940-1965 (exams...) but don't follow my lead, go see these guys rip through fun song after fun song from their excellent 2010 album, Hippies. These fellas play a nice brand of garage-ish rock, but it's not particularly fuzzy or lo-fi. Instead their appeal comes from just flat out good songs and the feeling of good times that come with them. Check the music [...]

by Fensepost

Down the street, in a garage, a sonic protuberance is waiting to penetrate your feeble mind. Generally music occupies a wide frequency spectrum; especially fancy major label recordings. Devil Eyes acknowledges the spectrum and declines most of its necessity. Who needs slight cymbal splashes at 21khz? No one. A bastion of fuzz, Devil Eyes compresses and condenses rock and roll to its fundamental quality. Noise. Sounds like shoving popcorn down some poor bastards snorkel. The album features two instrumental tracks, Noctilucent Ghost and Teeth. The former elicits, for lack of a [...]

by MAGNET

Ever since Robert Johnson sold his soul to master the blues, the devil has been a cornerstone of rock 'n roll.
