Actually have to admit that this new Holy Ghost! track "Dumb Disco Ideas" actually slipped my radar. It's taken from their upcoming album "Dynamics" released on DFA Records . Sounds promising I must say. Always been a big fan and admired what Holy Ghost! done so far, so with this new one I can only hope for a new huge album to come!

The Juan MacLean is a punk rock guitarist turned life-long DFA Records devotee. In the introduction to his Essential Mix from last week, he explains how he linked up with friend, DFA label head and former LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy - he was still in live music, in a band named 6 Finger Satellite and Murphy was their sound engineer. MacLean quit his band and through a bit of lucky happenstance, began making dance music. Along with the encouragement of his friend Murphy, he was responsible for the label's 2nd release, a 123 named By The Time I Get [...]

While James Murphy is off doing whatever he does these days, ex- LCD Soundystem drummer Pat Mahoney has started a new band. Museum of Love sees Mahoney move from behind the kit to lead vocals, with The Juan MacLean' s Dennis McNany (aka Jee Day) providing the production/instrumentation. The duo's first single, "Down South", will be released on June 18th via Murphy's DFA Records, but you can stream it now below. It's a far more artsy sound than some might associate with the LCD/MacLean camps, with Mahoney busting out a croon like an overly theatrical David [...]

Welcome to the anti-EDM post for today - the post where hypnotic grooves matter more than obnoxious drops. I'd like to take this moment to introduce the new collaborative project of Pat Mahoney (founding member and drummer of LCD Soundsystem ) and Dennis McNany (aka Jee Day , member of The Juan Maclean and founder of Run-Roc Records). They have come together to form Museum Of Love . Pat and Dennis met 14 years ago, but that doesn’t matter. Born of friendship, 10,000 tallboys, 400 bistro burgers and 10 million cigarettes – here is the Museum of Love. Dennis writes most [...]

Let's drive away "Down South" with Museum Of Love , the new project of LCD Soundsystem member Pat Mahoney and the Juan MacLean player Dennis "DJ" McNany, aka Jee Day. This gorgeous house track is the duo's debut single for DFA. Needless to say, it's already on repeat. There's more great things on the way. Museum Of Love are currently at work on their debut full-length, which should see the light of day later this year. They have also made a song together with Shit Robot for his upcoming second album. We couldn't [...]

Pat Mahoney's opening solo gambit is an absolute peach, directly summoning the spirit of Arthur Russell as part of Museum Of Love with fellow DFA-er Jay Dee. Exactly the type of off-kilter pop that should be topping the hit parade. Get the WAV here .

Somewhere in my formative teen years I developed an affinity with vocoders and this song satisfies this. If you like your electronica less serious and more about funky basslines that make you dance then this is for you. Tippy Toes's passion for analog synths is evident in this particular remix and having used their magical fingers on LCD Soundsystem tracks and Midnight Magic it's clear they know what they're doing. This track and many other goodies including a remix from Daphni is available on Sinkane's Mars Deluxe Edition [...]

Not long ago, we featured SHIT ROBOT 's new track 'Feels Real'. We also dug through the past decade to produce a flashback piece on DFA Records . So as you could imagine, we got a bit excited upon viewing Shit Robot perform his new track at DFA's 12th birthday party! Presented by the Red Bull Music Academy, the party was held at New York's Grand Prospect Hall on 25th May. With a massive DFA lightning bolt facing the crowd on either side of the stage, Shit Robot customised what was [...]

DFA Records producer and DJ, The Juan Maclean, recently hopped on BBC Radio 1 for his Essential Mix. Maclean played a few of his own tracks that were released via DFA, but spent the majority of his set playing tracks from artists such as Maxxi Soundsystem, MANIK, PBR Streetgang, and Disclosure. Arcade Fire lanzó su exitoso álbum 'The Suburbs' hace tres años.

Last weekend DFA Records celebrated 12 years of music by throwing a party in Brooklyn. Naturally Red Bull Music Academy played a large role in the event where the sounds of disco punk could be heard blocks away. If you weren't there don't worry, RBMA is now streaming the set from label founder and LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy. Murphy starts the set off with "Summer Nights In Harlem," from The Fantasy and moves through a carefully chosen set list ranging from disco to funk and back. James Murphy DJ Set From DFA 12-Year [...]
