This beat is the freshest of the fresh. "Glad I Met You" by D. Gookin. Check it out on Soundcloud here .

by Bill Pearis Kwes We've got some news on the Django Django front. As you may remember, BrooklynVegan is presenting the band's Stateside debut at Glasslands on March 10 . The show was supposed to be with Kwes, but unfortunately due to visa issues, he had to drop off the bill. (He's hoping to still make it in time for SXSW.) Opening instead will be New Haven electronic prankster D. Gookin [...]

I stormed into the claustrophobic room and slammed my hands palm down onto the table situated in front of the suspect. "Listen up Gookin! I've had enough of your games. Do you realize how much trouble you're in? Wipe that smile off your face!" "Detective Penfold, I don't understand you. Only a moment ago we were having a nice, pleasant conversation. You left the room in a jovial mood, but now you're back and clearly upset. Why is that?" "Hey! I'll ask the questions here Gookin. Got that?" "Of course [...]
Photography: Marat Alihmanov So good so good, I am totally in the mood for this kind of music! You can find the EP with the fifth song here , do name your price if you like it! D. Gookin - Inside D. Gookin - People D. Gookin - Remember [...]

[RSS Readers: See post to listen to audio] Future Islands musicianship surpasses soo many artists of his genre, his talent oozes out, sadly I haven't seen him live but now its a priority. Since the first time I heard D. Gookin I thought he was from another world but I had some much respect for this live show, its leaps beyond Dan Deacon or Tobacco when it comes to weird energy and psychedelics, I can't wait to see how he does this as a one man show tomorrow night [...]

Moodgadget is presenting an amazing showcase of electronic music on August 30th at Glasslands (Brooklyn, NY). The artists featured on the bill have donated a killer set of exclusive tracks for free at ISO50 . The collection features Mux Mool, Teeel, André Obin, Foxes in Fiction, D. Gookin, Jacob 2-2, Beacon and Starfawn. The last two acts in the list are new to me but sound very promising, especially Starfawn 's "Diamonds are Dust". (via [...]

I'm not sure what to make of New Haven electronic producer D.Gookin . I've been grooving to his new tune 'Unbraid the Knot' all morning, but it's a confusing beast. D.Gookin, A.K.A. Mike Birnbaum seems to have taken a chaotic, breaks inspired experimental dance track and crammed it into the box of a sweet melodic Electro Soul tune, and the end result really works. The big noisy beats and distorted percussion are off set by smooth vocoding and a catchy riff. 'Unbraid The Knot' has a raw sound, this just tends to add to it's charm. D.Gookin [...]

I've been groovin to this so hard all day... thought my cubicle walls were just gonna collapse. I know nothing about D. Gookin besides the fact that he hails from D.C. and makes sick dance grooves. Another shout out to producer Brenton Duvall and his must-have iPod playlist. If you haven't checked it out, take a look at his top jams over at SunsetInTheRearview . Download: D. Gookin - Glad I Met You

Welcome to the third-ever " On The iPod " feature. This feature was created about seven months ago, and I was hoping to make it a more regular feature, but, totally understandably, it takes people a while to prepare their list of what could be their Top 10 Songs of All Time. To refresh your memories, let me recap what this feature entails. We are asking people, be they artists, listeners, or fans, what they would do if they were stranded on an island with an iPod that held only 10 songs. Which songs would they [...]
One of the many mashups from the Transplant II. Enough about the song already.... In other news a tree branch took out my cable. No worries I can still watch TV since we have a dish. However no internet. So this may very well be my last post before the big trip over to Finland. Hope [...]
![[WEEKLIES] In Reality and In Dreams Weekly {Remix} Playlist](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2609716_lg.jpg)
Photo Courtesy Check her work, it's really good! This playlist is created with credits to ISO50 blog. I renamed the playlist from There Will Be Echoes to In Reality and In Dreams because I think some if not most of the remixes have an underlying dreamy and a slight romantic feel despite the upbeat party mood. The tracks are related to the Moodgadget label, and has reached about almost a thousand downloads since the 4th of June 2010, so I think it's [...]

Chrono Trigger illustration by RAOXcrew Download audio file (Glad I Met You.mp3) D. Gookin - Glad I Met You

Last week I shared with you the start of a 4 [maybe more?] part series of covers that some of my friends did that was free to download here . Here is volume 2: Calmer covers Bob James : I think when I asked Calmer to cover the Taxi theme song he thought I was joking but I actually wasn't I always play this song when I DJ late nights. He does a great hazy looped cover which shows off his drumming skills and that was what I was [...]

Cover Art by Alex Cornell Since the success of the first exclusive FREE EP that we did on ISO50 I asked for some musicians for more tracks of covers and edits. Synth Pop guru D. Gookin takes our middle school favorite teen classic single 1979 by Smashing Pumpkins to a raw fantasy land of where Dan Deacon, Luke Vibert and Tortoise collaborate to do our bidding. The Worst Friends duo take the gentler side of M83 and nudge it just enough to open up the [...]

Glad I Met You Download audio file (13GladIMetYou.mp3) Wish we could say more about D. Gookin except that he sounds nothing like this picture suggests. This is quite an old tune from the American keyboardist, it sounds perfect grouped amongst any odd Sorcerer or Hatchback tunes you may have laying around. Set up your deck-hair and enjoy.

interrupting the play-by-play on that inquiet remix - sunday afternoon seems like a good time to drop a few notes on what music i'm listening to at the moment. nothing too fancy, just feels a little overdue. traffic sounds leigh (host of 2ser's tape relay who, as far as i can tell from stalking her on mess+noise, is currently whooping it up with some kind of vincent chase lifestyle) recently put me on to eero johannes , for which i'm very grateful. he is a finnish dude signed to planet mu who [...]

At 16 I hit a crisis—I walked away from the classical training I began 10 years earlier. I didn't give it up entirely, but I decided I wasn't going to pursue becoming a classical cellist as a career. Very quickly the musical void left by the absences of practicing multiple hours a day was soon filled by electronic music. I was introduced to avant-garde electronic music at an early age; so making sounds on the computer didn't seem odd while all my friends were out starting punk bands. I eventually fell into [...]
